5555: Painting ARC Troopers for Star Wars Legion [How I Paint Things]

It's okay. Nobody's over it, yet.
Whether you're looking to recreate Fives on the tabletop or just need some pointers on how you can paint your ARC Troopers, or even just the markings of the Clone Troopers of the 501st Legion, here's how I'd tackle it. A little patience and the ability to go back and tidy up those straight lines with Corax White is surprisingly easy once you get your eye in, and it's otherwise not terribly different to painting anything else that's part of the Grand Army of the Republic.
This miniature is a 3D print using the 'ARC troopers - modular kit' from Anvilrage Studios, which you can find on their Gumroad page here: anvilragestudios.gumroad.com/
Printed on an Elegoo Mars 2 Pro at 30 micron layer height - 2.3s exposure time on the normal layers, and a retract speed of just 35mm/s to keep from yanking supports off the parts.

While I don't play Star Wars, the paint scheme would work great for troopers in Star Grave. hell, even a Space Marine team would look nice like that.

They are! I've really been enjoying painting Star Wars stuff recently, it's a blast to go back to some of the things that first got me into sci-fi and space opera as a kid.
I impulse bought some Legion... and this is making me think I should build and paint it all...

They're really rather nice kits, the official Legion stuff. Plus they look cool as hell once they're done!
This is the first time i've seen the end product of a legion clone model that doesn't look like the paints weren't thinned (no offence to those who's clones I've seen). But holy shet, thou has the neatest hand movements ever

It can be a bit of a trick, but I find the easiest way to get the most from it is to think of it more like a shade like Agrax or similar - working over the top of it doesn't take long either, and you preserve that cool, clinical white recess.
Great tutorial & fantastic mini, these are really realistical figures. I suppose the next ones will be some not-bad batch from Skullforge.😊

For the most part it's either Citadel or Army Painter stuff, usually medium brushes or regiment brushes - the 'standard' across most ranges. Unless specifically calling out a grubby old drybrush or something, that tends to be what I'm using.
quick guide on how to use them on the table here! Unless its strike team echo you dont play them at all
Despite the Clone Wars movie being bad most of things to result from it have been real good, personal favourite for me is The Republic Commandos.

Thinking of buying the arc trooper model set. Don't play legion but is a fan of starwars and Warhammer like models although I have no experience painting them. Any tips for a beginner?

I had one! ...then it broke. 🤣 I'll replace it eventually, but the elbow grease in the meantime is good for my fitness or something.

How did you get your corax white to look so bright? Mine is still a little greyish

My mistake. I just realised spray primer corax white is darker than base paint corax white
At 10:27 I feel like there may have been a better shade to use. Comment and Like for algorithm.

ngl will probaly never buy or paint these even tho i love star wars but could u try to paint the clone camo guys lol thay would be cool to see

@@SonicSledgehammerStudio so there just typical clones built for forrest environments there like a green almost like guardsmen but have slight common to them and have green glass for the mask instead of black I always thought they looks cool since they fit where they fight

@@jacobheller3146 I think you're talking about Commander Gree. He's the only Kashyyyk trooper who wears a regular Phase II helmet with a green visor instead of scout armor.
