500ft MST Fiber Optic Install with Long Customer Education
90% of customers that are switching to streaming full time have a hard time learning, even when they already have been doing it. Video has most of it untill I get to the audio part or his amplifier my camera dies.

The amount of patience you had with this gentleman. His daughter should have been there for the install since she pushed him to do this
These poor old guys. Thrown into the 21st century with no clue. Thanks for helping him. Imagine him calling Spectrum and trying to figure this out on the phone with a call center.

... Except they're not just throwing into the 21st-century like some kind of frozen man in the ice that was just thawed out overnight. They had literally the exact same amount of time to acclimate themselves and grow a custom to new technology as every single other person that was exposed to it in fact, they even have more because they have an entire basis, historically, speaking from having dealt with prior technology in the past that they can now apply logically to their use of new things, whereas someone who has no context and no prior experience with any of these things is actually more of a disadvantage than they are so this excuse that just because someone's old that they inherently are just bamboozled by any kind of technology is kind of hilarious.. The reality is that many people are just dumb. They're just dumb, but that's just kind of the reality is they're just not very bright people and they don't apply themselves.
you know that customer is going to call in asking for help unfortunately, that will be a trouble call.. it was always fun explaining stuff to the older people
You're a good guy. Thank you.
I did this for my father. We got rid of spectrum only kept one cable box in his house.. he like the that guy .. it’s a learning curve .
liking the zip tie trick, i think ill use it when i need to.
What a complex install for little gains, not your doing aside from too much tension on the last APC connection inside. Why 2 splices along with having to dig a trench is crazy. I am not a field installer but that busy road cable run should have an assistant to avoid a disaster. Also not sure about your zip tie trick with that much tension from house to the pole but I guess it gets the job done. Remember you posted this so I assume all comments are welcome.
nice work!
Zip ties for masonry anchors? Interesting. I guess it works.

Yes sir all day, even the drop hooks.
Makita sells a battery powered microwave, coffee maker, and even a sweeper, vacuum cleaner. just anything you could stick a drill battery on you can buy and want on a job site.
voll nett wie den mann geholfen wird güsse aus germany👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
may i ask why you hold the fibers while theyre being fused?
It's a nightmare when these elderly people go to streaming to save money and are told by sales that it is the same. Then after a 3hr install they don't want it🤯.
Is that an AFL/Fujikura or Corning RA?
You installing dedicated or shared fiber - guessing shared for a home pc on carpet for fiber wow
That basement reminds me of the basement in the movie The Silence of the Lambs. Creepy...... lol
Whats is city?
"That's Spectrum for ya." You just said you were a Spectrum contractor for several years. It's contractors who are rushed to get the job done doing that crap.

Depends on the contractor, This is same amount of time I would spend on my customer ed when I worked for spectrum. Plenty of customers broke out the notepad.
Hello budy, how are you? I'm Fernando, I follow your videos and write from here in Brazil. Would you like to know the salary of a fiber optic technician? Thanks!!

Você tem provedor amigo? Conheci esse canal achei interessante o jeito que eles fazem a instalação, tudo por fusão
bro don't leave fiber cuts all over the place, someone or an animal is gonna have a bad day
watching from phillipinnes
With all that customer ed, I hope you're getting paid by the hour and not by the job.

By the Job , and all the customer ed was for the cable company and not the internet I was installing.
One of the most painful FTTH I have ever seen… you need to be trained by someone that knows what they are doing.
Spectrum does so much extra work you have how many splices to the Ont?? Goodness I know it works but push drop is the way to go. Just slap a end piece on once you have it to the Ont

Or maybe, don't cut the factory terminations off? It does rub me the wrong way that there isn't a single disconnection point in the entire run. The outside slack NID has a coupler in it. The inside box should have one too.

Its just how we are expected to install here.
Why not just push drop into the house? One less splice you have to do

They want install drops to the meter first even though no grounding is needed.
