@@Aisha-721 most of Rodentia does. And also hedgehogs. Pigs, hammies, gerbils... They sniff a few times. Lick. And then go for blood. It's made me nervous around rats and ferrets. (I don't hate them tho. I just won't handle them)

Watching you try to put the eye gel on was hilarious. I have to give eye drops and gels to my patients and some are very cooperative, but others squeeze their eyes shut tight or even blink too quick that the drops drip off their lashes. Great job helping the abandoned hammies get to people who will care for them.🐹🐹🐹

The same kind of thing happened during the 2008 economic collapse. So many pets were put down or made homeless because their humans lost their jobs and homes. When the economy tanks and no help is given to the people, their pets suffer too.

"Small link in the chain" is an understatement Scotty. I don't own a hamster or guinea pig but I've watched your and Saskia's videos and have seen all the good you've done, so "small link" doesn't even begin to cover it. A large link or the "clasp" on the chain would be more apt.

Awesome work everyone in saving the hammies. Scotty, an easy way to put ointment on is if you scruff them and hold them so they are on their backs, a bit like how homesweethammyhome was doing to determine their sex, or try to wrap them up like a burrito

Awe if I was closer I would adopt a hamster! I always keep an eye out at my local rescues for crisis.

How could somebody leave 50 hamsters in a bucket? Who has 50 hamsters to begin with? It blows the mind. I’ve had several hamsters but I had to quit because they don’t live long and it was so hard on my heart. Watching you try and give her eye drops was hilarious. She’s a great girl for not biting you.

Putting the meds on a finger and then having her squeeze her way past said finger is what we had to do with our squirmy gerbil with a foot injury. Using a utensil to apply it is always risky and more time consuming. She’s a cutie.

To work with a tiny hamster, put her in a sock cozy. It helps contain her, like purretoing a cat/kitten in a towel. Minis love cozies at any time. I had an adorable mini named Sleeping Beauty, and she was such a love bug. Edited: A toilet paper tube also works good for hamsters and small rodents when administering to them. You can just stop up one end of it and keep them contained while doing meds, etc. Thank-you bunches for rescuing and helping these precious babies.😇

Maybe try leaving her in the cage so she’s comfortable.. that may stress her out I’m not sure. Great video Scotty !!!

what doesn’t make sense to me at all is the fact it’s LITERALLY common sense if you put a male and female of any animal together they’re going to breed..accidental litters from missexed animals at the pet store is a completely different story. just another reason adopting from rescues and shelters is always the way to go.

you can put a small amount of low fat plain joghurt in front of the hamster or some other safe food they can't take away (no sugary food like honey for hamsters though!) so they sit still when you need them to. :) Happy to see them all rescued! ♥ it's crazy to imagine how these things happen.

Sweet Mother Hubbard, people are so irresponsible! I'm glad you were able to save them. I rescued my first dwarf hamster on my channel Seedful hamsters. I can't even imagine 50!!

I find it disgusting that the original shelter was only giving them such a short timeframe before they were going to be euthanizing the lot of them. I seriously don’t know how people work in them and are able to look at themselves in the mirror. Do lives really have so little meaning to them? This does not go for all shelter workers as I know some work tirelessly to get the animals home until they are left without a choice but so many of these shelters are not even trying anymore!! If you aren’t in it for the betterment of the animals you shouldn’t be in it.

O.m.g. if I was out there I would so love to hamsters but let they won't :( Now watching this brings back memories of my old hamster from when I was a kid when we lived in Toronto. Her name was Susie. She was I believe a standard white. It was so long ago. I was a kid then. Anyway I learned a lot from her as a kid I learned that hamsters sleep during the day and active at night. They do love interacting with their humans only if they trust them and they love to hoard their snacks

Wheels are best for Hammie muscular skeletal systems so that they always run with their backs straight and even across but many don’t know this 😢🤓🏥

I can't believe people do such things, makes me sick to think about it. I was wondering, when you transport them from California to Arizona do you have to have special papers to cross the border with them? Thank you for all you do for these sweet little animals.

I don't know, you could ask one of the hamster rescues I support. I did not squeeze them hard. I was extremely gentle which is why it took so long

That is so sad how can anyone do this to a animal😢 i rescued a ferret once from the r.s.p.c.a the sad thing is people buy ferrets and find they a lot off hard work and the end up in the animali sheaters please do your information on any animal you want as a pet is for life aslo i think children so only have a pet iff they are going to take good care off the animal as children get bored and the poor animal is left and somethimes they end up in a animal shelter. If you are thinking off buying a pet why not rescue one as there so many animals needing a forever home check you local animal shelter

I'm against animals been bred to end up in cages its cruel so sad I wish we could end pet shops that sell animals your a good man keep up the good work thank you for what you do for little animals

Syrians need to live alone or they will fight. Dwarfs raised together might live in pairs but do well alone. Dwarfs can also get territorial and fight with their cage mate as demonstrated with the girl with the injured eye.

Syrians 100% need to live alone. Dwarfs can live together if they are from same litter, same sex (don't want lots of babies) and been brought up together, but you really need to know what you are doing. If you have two, you need two of everything e.g. 2 wheels, 2 food dishes, etc. You will also need appropriate sized cage and one spare in case falling out happens. You also need to look out for signs of dominance, often shown by one hamster being bigger as it gets all the food. In all honesty, it's not worth the risk of waking up one day and finding a dead hamster because they had a sudden falling out. For that reason I normally always recommend keeping them individually, we can not replicate the way they would live in the wild..

I used to keep rescued hamsters I would never buy them adopt the ones in need

dwarf hamsters in pairs provide some of the funniest moments to watch when wheels/saucers are involved. I love them XD ofc all the males I've had while happily run a million miles an hour in the wheel and stop suddenly to have it spin them around and toss them out then go right back to do it again. I think they like it XD none of the females I've had ever did it but every single one of the males. So random XD crazy little fluff balls

Monkeybarring like in your video “ninja hamster” is a clear sign of stress and it is not cute! I would never laugh at my hamster if he or she was in stress.
