The funniest part about all of this is that 50% is literally the number in my personal life. Me and my closest cousin sat down and did the math. We've been to 24 family weddings during our 32 years of existence. 12 of those couples aren't married anymore.

What's scary isn't the divorce rate but the dwindling rate of marriage. It was highest on average in the 40's around 12-13% with a high in '46 of 16.4% I believe which was likely due to post WW2. The most recent data shows it at 6.5%. So while divorce numbers are actually at an all time low, it's purely due to the all time low marriage rate.

The truth is that the overall divorce rate for any number of times getting married is over 60% and that doesn’t include the rest that are unhappy that stay in a marriage. That’s the reality. No reason to even take a chance to find out. The single life with occasionally dating or being in a long-term, but not married, relationship is the best in my opinion. 👌🏻

I think the biggest problem with marriage in the US, is people do it because it's expected of them. Most people aren't marrying because they believe they've found the one, they're marrying because they're getting older and it's abnormal to not be married by a certain age. I worked in the wedding industry for years and I'd say about 50% of the couples I worked for are now divorced. It was also obvious to me many people marry for the wrong reasons. I will get married if I ever feel like I really want to spend the rest of my life with someone, but I'm not getting married just because I'm 35.

Totally agree. I would see even long term relationships for men are mostly not beneficial aside from cosr reduction. We all know familiarity breeds contempt and less sex from women. @@iminheaven3505, yes, about 70% of divorces are initiated by women. But, that doesn’t mean the women have broke in the marriage, that simply means they filed first. I personally think there’s a fair amount of sex more for that goes on that is wholly detrimental to marriage. It comes from both the ultra feminist camp, as well as the reactionary masculine side. The idea that the other sex is a problem is horribly detrimental to human beings in general, and marriage in particular.

How many people work at your job, what's the average education between all of them and in your town, did they get married young, same race or mixed race couple, different or same political and religious beliefs were they faithful, either of them have any issues with mental health, how often were they intimate, how many kids do they have, did they want them? what's their wage, did they own a house, did they live together before getting married, how long were they married, etc, etc. These are all things that play into it as it's different for everyone statistics are based on smaller sample sizes and are heavily skewed based on the area where they are done and people lie. Your experience with 10 people having been divorced means nothing the job you are in can even play a part in it. Most people I know are clinically depressed or have been diagnosed with autism doesn't mean everyone is in fact autism is extremely rare and clinical depression is also very low. People tend to gravity towards those similar to them or different enough to make them interesting to the other person to engage personal experience is not fact statistics are not fact and aren't accurate the same way a polygraph test is not admissable in court. It's hard to prove the actual accuracy of these things because so many factors have to be accounted for that it's impossible to get an actual concrete idea of what divorce rates are given how vastly different people tend to be in most aspects of their life

1: New shiny object fallacy. They think the new feelings is going to last. But it won`t 2: Their partner may have lost interest in sex, so they feel alienated, lonely 3: Their partner may have personality dissorders like narcissism or other toxic traits 4: They get brainwashed by media to think magicaly. That life should in reality be a constant euphoric high. When in reality life is about handling " discomfort" like boredom, stress and so on in a mature way. You can see on the people who think that life should be a " adventure" that they never grow up, and never feel content. And that they soon get bored with their spouse. Then get divorced to later get divorced again for the exact same reasons. That is they are fools. My conclusion is that this game is alot like the stock market most people lose, and can`t handle the swings. Or they get fooled by randomness. The trick is to find a mature partner and " stick with it".
