50,000 words in a month | NaNoWriMo Wrap Up

A month-long vlog from November 2023 documenting the process of trying trying to squeeze writing a 50,000 word novel into a busy schedule. How'd it go? A lot like me trying to fit into pants I used to wear in high school.

It may have been grueling for you at times, but thanks for giving a peek at what a project like this is like.

Well done! Great achievement! Not only the writing, but putting up this riveting video. I hope you do another video like this in the future even if you say you won't. I think whatever anyone writes is worth it, even if unfinished, because it can be returned to later like you say, or you might use ideas from what you wrote in something else you write. I even imagined while watching this of ... a mystery book about a librarian writing a book in this one-month time slot ... and then toss in a murder too, titled Red Snow or something!

Thanks very much! Red Snow sounds great! I always say that EVERYONE has at least one novel inside them. And as for making another video like this in the future... you never know... let me get some distance between me and this one! Haha. I'm a little burned out. 😄

I am half way into this video and it is interesting and enlightening. As a reader I can appreciate more now how hard it must be to write a novel although I doubt Stephen King has too many off days. You have a nice word processor (typewritter) and you son seems pretty darn cool. Lookin forward to part 2 tomorrow. If I had to write a novel, I would have to make a story board like the movie directors.

Thanks for watching! I know it's a long one! Take your time getting through it!! The word processor is a Querkywriter. I bought it for myself as a housewarming gift for my new house! I was going to include a small segment in the video talking about the Querkywriter, but until Querkytoys wants to sponsor me, I think I'll leave out the free advertisement! haha.

Well, your character makes a significant appearance. At one point in the book, the horses are in need of care and Salty Veterinarian Adventures is contracted to provide that care!! He's an old military veterinarian who served in Burma & India during WWII, caring for camels, elephants, and horses! Now he's a traveling Vet! 😉

Thanks Erik for this sneek peek into your writing life. It is very inspiring to finally head back to writing myself, again. Something I've been putting off because of all kind of plausible reasons. My first action will be to purchase that cool retro keyboard I see you working on. Perhaps it's an idea to make a video on getting a fully finished novel published. Again, thanks. I always watch your video's.

thanks so much for watching! i've doubled down on my writing and my writing career. i once had a novel under a publishing contract but the deal fell through and the experience left a bad taste in my mouth. But I can't let that stop me from trying again. Good luck with your own writing endeavors. And I will say, the Querkywriter/iPad combo is awesome, but it's expensive. but it makes for a very, very nice writing experience!

@@gronskeibooks That's too bad, the bad taste I mean. I'd love to read something you've written. I published two novels here in The Netherlands, in my own small publishing house. They didn't do anything commercially. It's tough to be noticed with almost everybody writing books nowadays. I bought a Qwerky-imitation (shipping from the US to Europe is insanely expensive) keyboard. Looks amazing. Thanks for alerting me.

I have yet to read Madame Bovary! Perhaps this would be a good year to pay her a visit! As for my location, i'm not exactly super private about it, but I try not to advertise too much. There ARE clues in the videos, so put on your tweed deerstalker, and start investigating!! 😃 Thanks for watching! And maybe keep an eye out for a Madame Bovary video in a few months. Who knows?
