    Hey Chris I would like to add a few things to each point: 1. Have a strong cardio workout also helps you get deeper and more healthy sleep. 2. I wouldn’t hit the gym. Most of the exercises you do at basic doesn’t require gym equipment. But gyms can still be useful if you want to use them. 3. Ask your recruiter for help for training for road marches. My recruiter issued me a temporary ruck sack to train with on my own time. Really helpful. 4. One problem I saw was people not used to eating three square meals a day. Prepare by getting into the habit of eating a breakfast, lunch, and dinner and eating clean protein rich foods. 5. NEVER fall asleep during class in basic. 👍

    My uncle just got out of basic, and from the things im hearing out of him there are a few key things: Running. A lot, like 6 - 10 miles a day screaming cadence the entire time. Calisthenics. Sit ups, push ups, pull ups, and flutter kicks. Think about ~300 of each a day, with the exception being pull ups around 50 or 100. Long distance marching. Get used to ~75 to 100 pounds weighing you down, and marching 15 miles a day. HITT cardio. Think more like an obstacle course, but for hours on end over and over. Eating healthy calories, lots of them. Protein, carbs, fibers and natural sugars from fruits, vegetables, and meats. Very little sleep, like 20 hour days. Finally, your mental game. In the end, its all a mental game, and you need to keep in mind that you'll reach the end and that this isnt forever.

    I knew I had to prepare big time. 2 years prior after high school graduation. Besides Basic Training and Infantry School. I was more worried about making and graduating Airborne School. I was very scared about failing Airborne. I ran for endurance and speed, did pull ups up to 15-20, rope climbing, and did many push ups. Did very well in Basic and Infantry School after 15 weeks. I was still scared. Got smoked but I had a great time in the 3 week adventure. Got my 5 jumps and got my wings. I was very happy. The stuff I learned from Airborne School was physical Fitness was paramount. Air Force and Navy pilots would make landings with airplanes, Paratroopers have to make it with their bodies.

    If you can't do a push up, sit up or pull up, I found that going to the gym and doing the sorts of lifts that simulate those motions (e.g. chest press, abdominal exercises, pull downs, etc) are a good stepping stone into doing the actual thing. Once you can do the actual thing, though, then I have to agree. The only way to get good at them is to do them

Serving in the military has been on my mind since my high school graduation in 2017... Right now I am trying to condition my body for basic training (if Lord willing I am eligible to join...) I got in a tad bit of trouble with law enforcement when I was a teen... My long term goal in life is to serve as a Pastor/Christian Minister at a church or educational setting. But I would consider it an awesome privilege to serve the Red White and Blue. I specifically enjoy your 88M videos! That is an MOS I am currently looking into! On point battle! Lots of great info here people take advantage of the foresight he's providing. Our Eagle ruck march (final march in Infantry OSUT) ended up being 52 miles, so DEFINITELY start conditioning months before hand to be able to walk with pack/weight for extended distances, endurance is key in that and in general tasks and other systemics, there will be a lot of repetition. Especially with combat arms MOS's, the "tactical athlete" mindset is very important, you will have to push yourself far past any comfort zone. Many will lose between 10 and 30 lbs. of fat weight unless you're already lean/skinny, then you will gain at least 5 to 10lbs. of muscle during OSUT in particular. I miss the DFAC eggs honestly hahahahaha, they were delicious. He's on point about the DFAC/chow hall as well, in Infantry OSUT, the first week of reception and in-processing at 30th AG you will have the option for short order/more fast-food style foods, but for the duration of training you will not-- and coffee and soda/pop are off limits besides the coffee in your MRE's (the current MRE menus are great so y'all going in/shipping out this year should feel lucky)-- in the DFAC you'll be limited to water, orange juice, milk, and powerade, try to limit your caffeine intake before shipping out or you will have the worst caffeine withdrawal headache for at least 4 days to a week.

    For a well rounded diet in my opinion is the Filipino Vegetable Dishes. Many of them are simple to do, with simple ingredients. May not be for everyone, but if you need everything in one, Filipino Vegetable Dishes are the way to go. A good example is, Sari-Saring Gulay. A dish mixed with common vegetables and any type of meat you want to add in there and some common spices like onion and garlic, and even bell pepper if you want.

    Do you have a choice when you go for bt? Or do you have to go the first chance you get? I'm going for my medical in 3 days and I'm worried about not having enough time to prepare before they want to send me. I need to have a cyst on my tailbone removed surgically which will take 2-4 weeks to heal and then I'm worried I won't have time to train/prepare or that I'll still be sore or recovering when I go/they won't send me and I'll have to restart the process. Everything aside from my current physical condition is perfect, I qualified for every starting position/occupation I have no criminal history or past drug/alcohol use and a long family-line of soldiers all the way back to ww1 my dad even served with one of the recruiters. So I'm hoping they want me enough to not turn me down now just because of this surgery. I need to get out of this shitty little town 😓

  • @skar516

    @skar516

    4 жыл бұрын

    Max Combs weights are good too because the acft is being implemented. Primarily squats and deadlifts. Def want to work on shoulders as well for the ball throw. Calisthenics are DEF your friend you’ll want to run, do pull ups, planks and all kinds of core workouts. If you’re a little weak in any of these things don’t worry they WILL square you away but it would make your life a whole lot easier to get it done. Also keep in mind that your MOS will require you to qualify up to a certain standard while doing the acft. So you might want to research whatever test score you have to get. Right now they’ve suspended a lot of stuff cuz of COVID but when it’s all over they’ll go back to that to test. Some duty stations after basic are also running the apft as well. So I’d say both man long story short.
