You go to A.I.T.(MOS Training) Then you go to your duty station. If your Reserve or National Guard, you are then released from active duty and pick up your first DD-214, and then you are sent home to report to your Reserve or National Guard unit.

@@Anakin-Skywalker. Not at all. The Reserve and NG drill once a month and have at least two weeks for annual training (AT). AT usually occurs during the summer but it all depends on the unit. When a Reserve or NG unit deploys they go to what is called a mobilization site or MOB site. They are issued Title 10 order which places them on Active Duty Status. They are at the MOB site from anywhere to 1 to 3 months or more depending on the deployment and what the unit will actually be doing. After the deployment is over they are sent back to the MOB site for demobilization. They will then receive another DD-214 as they are being released from Active Duty back into their Reserve or NG status. The NG is the oldest component of the US Military even pre dating the US Army. The are the original minute men militia. Still answering the call to this day.

Initial Entry Training (IET) is just the start. Go Infantry like I did, and you'll go from civilian to fully-MOS qualified Soldier in 22 weeks (14 in my day as both a Trainee and Drill Sergeant). Most other MOS' will see you complete nine weeks of Basic Combat Training (BCT) followed by Advanced Individual Training (AIT). When you enlist, each little step is a milestone. If you're in White Phase (weeks 4-6) of BCT, the Red Phase (weeks 1-3) units are "Cherries". If you've earned your Soldier status and are in AIT on Fort Jackson, the BCT Trainees are like little children to be ignored. Never mind that weeks earlier you were in their shoes, you've made it, and they haven't. Once IET is over, the real transitory period begins. You're an MOS qualified Soldier, but you have to adjust to your unit, master your job, and above all else, prove yourself to your leaders and peers. If you're married and/or have kids, you've got to find the right balance of being a good family man/woman and Soldier. It's up to you to take care of both your personal and professional lives; dropping the ball on family is an obvious no-no, but most leaders will only give you so much leeway when it comes to using family as an excuse. "SGT, I'm going to be late this morning, the baby kept me up all night" might fly once or twice but will eventually lead to consequences. I spent 21 years in uniform and now just make lengthy (and arguably worthless) comments on videos like this. During my time in, though, I did just over three years as a Recruiter, two as a Drill Sergeant, and was an Infantry NCO for 18 years. I like the positive and informative content a lot of you creators are putting out, and judging from the comments, it's very beneficial to those in the training pipeline or thinking about enlisting.

Can you make a video for reservist transitioning to Active Duty? I seen a lot of videos on YT about what happens if Active Duty switches to a Reserve Component, but not one for those like myself switching to Active Duty. What should a reservist expect and should know upon making the successful transition to Active Duty?
