I leave for basic in 6 days, although I'm pretty nervous I can't wait to experience it & become a better me. (UPDATE): Finally graduated BCT a few days ago, I am now in Arizona for AIT. (UPDATE #2): Done with AIT, too easy. Graduated damn near top of my class. Off to airborne. (Final Update): Finished airborne a while ago, now to wait out my contract lol. It’s all relatively easy just do the right shit at the right time in the right uniform.

@@IffyEdem You got this! I will tell you one thing, even though physical fitness and the ability to complete every task in training is very important to honing a soldier’s skill, what really makes a warrior is the willpower to NEVER quit! Take those missed opportunities as fuel for success and sometimes as a soldier, you have to dig real deep into your most darkest corners of your soul to find the last bit of energy you thought you didn’t have to emerge. Fire needs fuel and when you’ve ran out, you need to start looking within for something to keep you going to victory!

Army vet...did my trading on Tank Hill at Ft Jackson, SC straight out of high school. I arrived June 26. I went down road to Hollywood for my AIT In Unit Supply. It was so hot in the BDU and chemical suit. My recruiter fail to tell me about the gas chamber. It was a 4 month challenge for me at 18. I was in the best shape of my life. I could run 4 miles like it was nothing even in jump boots. We ran to school in uniform, back to lunch, back to school, and back to barracks after school. I met people from everywhere. It was a great start in life. These video just remind me. The wake up calls for PT usually involved banging of trash cans. We traveled on cattle trucks. Road marches....such fond memories....

I went to Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Anyone going to BCT that wants advice: Dont finish first dont finish last. Do what your told quickly and listen to whats being said. If they dont tell you to do it don't do it. The thinking has pretty much all been done for you, just do what your told. I strongly advise you start getting up super early and get accustomed to exercising at the crack ass of dawn. After the first maybe 2 weeks it wont be so bad. Start doing pushups everyday you get up. I advise atleaste 20 before you leave and aim for 20 pullups if you can do it

The BEST thing you can do is… Keep your mouth shut until you’re told to talk. Do EXACTLY what you’re told to do, EXACTLY how you’re told to do it. Don’t cause any trouble, and stay far away from anyone who does. Now GO GET ‘EM!!! 😡👉🏻 🪖🇺🇸

Contrary to what some might think, it really isn’t necessary to scream at people 24-7 to get them to do things (or not do things) you want. That shit makes for some great movies 🪑🍿📺, like Full Metal Jacket 🪖, though 😁.

@lostinthedesert-hp4bw 🤦🤦🤦 I don't believe you understand what military boot camp is supposed to be. It's not about simply yelling at people to get them to do what you want. It's about inducing stress Into someone and see how they react. Do they buckle under pressure or do they find their bearing and move forward. Do you have any idea how many of these people have never faced any type of adversity, had someone tell them "no" or provide structure? I met guys in bootcamp that didn't make it past the first day. I met others that didn't last a week. I met others that broke down after reality set in that they could not just call home for help anymore. Some couldn't tie their own boots because mommy always bought them slip on shoes since they were a kid. We had to teach them how to tie their own boots. Some couldn't fold their own clothes because they never had chores growing up and all was taken care of by someone else. We had to teach then that. We started with 128 recruits and only 78 Marines graduated. No shit you can just ask someone to do what you need them to do, but that's not the reality of what you may be throwing these young men and women into. You are building them to potentially go to war and have to kill or be killed by an enemy that doesn't give a shit about yelling at you. You break under the pressure of someone just screaming, you're gonna die and just get others killed in the process. Bootcamp is to weed out all who won't make it. Because if it was easy, EVERYONE WOULD DO IT.
