    I don’t know if you remember but I commented on your last drill weekend video 7 months ago mentioning how I was in the process of enlistment into the FL ANG. I am proud to say I enlisted in March of 2021 and am leaving for basic and tech school in December. I’ve been in student flight and have loved my short time in so far. Congrats on your career since you’re separating soon!

    I joined the Army National Guard at 17 in 1963 ( one wk. before Kennedy's assassination) & served 6 years! I tried to join the Air Guard first & took the AFQT with a score of 85, but they had a long waiting list, even then! The difference: Air Guard serves one weekend a month, while Army Guard served 4-4 hour drills per month! The experience is good for young persons to gain maturity, but get few if any "Veteran's" benefits! It's not fair!

    With deployments you are typically sent on a mission that correlates with your job. If you are helping with the state, for disasters and humanitarian relief and things of that sort, your assignment is often unrelated to your job but is always something that is trainable and easy to pick up

    We used to but the local family that owned them(3-4) changed the store name and parent company affiliation. It might have been a coincidence with the name because after researching the “east coast” chain they apparently have had no stores in Alaska. BTW, the reason I thought you might have been in Alaska was because of the hotel signs you showed, one sign appears to say “Anchorage…” which is the largest town in Alaska and is home to JBER(Elmendorf AFB/ Fort Richardson), it was probably a hotel sign with reference to the nautical term “anchorage”! So I hope you had a good career, I spent 10, 6 of which were active duty and my primary AFSC was “security”! I have 27.5 years in public safety and medically retired in 96’ from the fire service/EMS side. Thanks for your videos! rt

    I just applied for a entry level aircraft mechanic for the air national guard. I’m wondering how the process is like? Do we have to do combat training before we start the position? Are we considered soldiers? Do we have to go into active duty? Are the positions like regular 9-5pm’s where we can go home afterwards? Are we enlisted or deployed by default? Can we live in an apartment or hotel if we don’t want to live on the base? If we don’t live on the base is it covered or are we reimbursed? I apologize for the all the questions, I’m just pretty new to the military.

    As with any military branch, you can be deployed by the president wherever and whenever, really. Especially war times. You are a part of the military, period. And to my knowledge, you will do basic boot camp training and gun play. Nothing too crazy like the navy or army. But i mean it’s a need to know just in case.

    The only caveat to that is you are subject to deploying at any point throughout the semester/school year. Start school in Aug but may get deployed in October. There is usually several months notice for a standard AEF rotation deployment but there may be a short notice contingency deployment that may mess up your semester.

    little late but i was just wondering, is there a general role in the ANG or are they all specialized? I’m in hs and a recruiter told me there’s 50k signing bonuses along with being part time, just not sure how truthful that is.

  • @clarekirste

    @clarekirste

    2 ай бұрын

    Every role is specialized and some roles come with bonuses. Talk to your recruiter about which jobs are available and which ones come with bonuses. 50k is unusual but it is possible. When your recruiter gives you the list of available jobs, make sure to consider what you want to do and if it has a bonus attached. Bonuses are fun, but you also want to be happy with what you're doing. Good luck!
