    Dicey DxD thats true and that idiot doesnt understand that legs are always the strongest body part to use for fighting cause we all use legs cause we walk run jump hop and many more legs are things that are used daily and arms are a body part that is not used as much as legs would be cause boxers have to do road work to keep up their endurance and stamina and to make sure their legs are strong so they can keep that balance and have that great footwork while at it so yes no one cant beat the fact that legs are stronger than arms

    I love how he has covered technique from Muay thai boxing and even traditional kung fu. As somebody who's done all three (wing Chun, muay thai, boxing) I appreciate the attention to detail and the variations in regards to blocking. I recently started boxing as I have an injury in my leg and cannot train MT and I'm still doing the reach to the back of the head. I wasn't sure where I learned it but it's good to know it came from somewhere and the variation that can be applied for boxing. I always learn so much from your videos Shane! It's great that even when I change Styles you still have relevant fight tips for me that can be applied. 🙏🙏🙏

    Yesterday night i got beaten up by 3 guys, I was trying to calm down a situation and was there to prevent a fight altough the guys found it necessary to blind me with flashlights, i couldnt see a thing, not even their faces, just the light and they suckerpunched me that way, 1 hard on my nose, and 1 just under my eye, i lost my balance and they immediately started kicking to my head, I needed to full guard my head and they didnt let me get back up, as soon as my mate saw this they fled away. Be carefull guys, if they are shining into your eyes you will not see it coming!

    Wow, I had no idea high level boxers ever used such extended guards like traditional martial arts, but I guess it makes sense since even risky moves can still have their opportunities. I see extended guards a lot more commonly in Muay Thai since they work nicely as a clinch entry.

    Also; when I became proficient at the, "SLAP BLOCK," I rarely felt the need for using the elbows. But that applied more to Tournaments, or, Sparring. However, if a person is well trained in this technique---You'd be surprized at, not only its effectivity, but the "Economy of movement," and how it allows you to maintain strategic positioning of hands continually. Good stuff.

    Great video man! I prefer using my guard to block/deflect straight punches, and the wing guard/answering the telephone to block hooks and kicks. Ive been experimenting with other ways of defense in muay thai lately(except the shoulder roll; I consider it far too risky to use in muay thai for so little benefit; parrys are much better and more consistent for that type of defense, imo). Could you do a defense video, like this, except show you doing it in sparring? Sparring footage is very helpful. I need to get myself a double end bag, or something like it, where I can work my defense with it. Im confined to working my defense only in shadow boxing when at home; and thats a problem cause I only have muay thai twice a week(both days we spar- each of us gets around 2-4 rounds of sparring per class).

    Sean Medina 3rd Dan here. It's very similar to any of your high blocks or outward blocks used in various forms. Not sure what kyu/dan you are, but by about blue stripe you've probably seen most of them. Just let your arm travel outward and more vertical, and the key is to meet the kick before it gets too deep in your guard and you end up eating a tough shot. Good luck. 👍🏾

    Thanks! Another thing I'm curious about is throwing jabs and straights to the body in Muay Thai. If you crouch down like you do in boxing, you're open for a headkick. Meanwhile, if you stand straight and throw a body punch, your face is also exposed. Whats the right way to go about it? :)

    Nice Video! The outstretched arm and elbow block reminds me of wing-chun, with its stung-sow and bung-sow. It follows the center-line concept, which was explained to me as protecting the "box", which is the space between the forehead to the groin and between the shoulders when I started kickboxing. More prove that all fighting styles are more the same than they are different!

    @Aggressive Tubesock yeah I'm a POC. I honestly get more shit from lefitsts and threats from them than conservatives. Just because I don't agree with them on gun control and economic stuff even though I'm socially liberal (I'm libertarian) white people except for literally less than a handful have all been kind to me. And I live in North Florida close to Alabama and Georgia. Don't make generalizations.

    Dude, again your using wing chun, straight up biu sau to bong sau. Does this mean your going to post a video retraction from your previous about why wing chun doesn’t work? It annoys me so much that mma uses wing chun and then say it doesn’t work. Please at least mention that this is taken from wing chun and be decent

  • @dadren687

    @dadren687

    I agree. Ive taken wing chun and currently jeet kune do. JKD is more aggressive and uses western kickboxing - real sparring. All the wing chun moves come out in some way even though im kickboxing. They are just not easily identifiable in combat. Drill the moves enough and they will happen. Unfortunately, purists who do not spar with clinching and takedowns etc, and just drill wing chun without kickboxing, they will find themselves lacking terribly imo.
