Nice. I use tube smokers, but the bonus tip will definitely be useful for those of us who use pellets as well as those using saw-dust type wood. Cheers.

Thanks for the dust in the oven to dry out tip. I live in Darwin Australia which is very humid. I have struggled for 10 years with keeping the generator smoking. To bloody easy now. Thanks mate

Brilliant stuff, Mate. These Pro Q CSGs are superb bits of kit. Lighting - I use one of those long neck lighters from the Pound Shop as I got bored of chucking melted wax all over the place and me! Cleaning - The oven cleaner is a great idea, currently I just give the CSG a quick blast with a gas torch and a couple of knocks to get rid of the cruddy stuff. Drying - Yep! Essential.

Cheers Cider. hope you’re well mate?
Thanks for the video. Have been hot smoking WSM with great results, but started cold smoking with similar generator, spiral shape, using alder sawdust from Cameron, but it keeps going out. Would appreciate any thoughts on why it won't stay lit. I'm using a propane torch to light it. Thanks.

providing you’ve got fine dry dust it may respond to mixing with a little beechwood dust as it burns reliably. load your generator, with a 60/40 mix alder/beechwood and you should be good to go. some dust’s just don’t want to burn 🔥 👍

@@Coldsmoking Thank you for your quick response. This afternoon I looked at the sawdust from the same company and noticed one was labeled as "extra fine" and the other was fine sawdust. I put the extra fine in the generator and it burned and smoked for hours all the way through. I've ordered a spice grinder in hopes of milling it down to the same consistency as the extra fine. At least I know the problem is with the dust itself now! Thank you again! Cheers!
When drying out the wood chips in the oven at the temp you stated in this video 120C(or 248F), is there a possibility that the wood chip combust and possibly catch fire or start smoking? just curious if at all even possible? thanks for a great video!
@Coldsmoking

For that to happen you’d need the oven to be at around 300C. at 120C your just 20 degrees above the boiling point of water so theres no danger of combustion occurring.
Would the ProQ work well in a Weber kettle grill?

yes, it should work well, as you’ll be using it as a cold smoker just make sure you keep it out of direct sunlight. 👍
In the country I live are not available that so little wood chips comercialy ; would You like to tell me a way to have it starting from a tree trunk? Thanks You from Venezuela

you could use an electric wood planer set to fine. this will give you fine chips and dust
You can use a gas torch to burn off those tar deposits.
@Coldsmoking

yes I have seen this done but using a gas torch can damage the fine wire mesh on the smoke generator.
It's ok.but the smoker doesn't have any handles. Hard to move. The chips from proq constantly go out. Really frustrating.

proQ gad two handles as per the picture
please wear a gloves... it so important for hands but not for a next smoking... what should i suggest? stay it in vinegar or just clean with high pressure water... easy and better for your health... smoke already is not so good...

neither method is as effective and a good rinse in fresh water is fine
Maybe you could stop trying to BLOW MY FACE OFF with those stupid-big popup captions...? I'm old, but my eyes aren't that bad.
