I liked that she pointed out that making math and fractions functional in life is a great way to teach students. This is very true for so many students.

Having the right mindset is so important. Math and fractions really are helpful in our life so helping our students with activities that they can use it in would be so helpful.

What I learned from this video is that from hands-on to algorithms you have to ease into it because it could cause children to freak out.

Making fractions visual and very hands on so they can grasp the concept easier than it would be to try to teach them by talking. Having pintrest ideas or resources from the store will really make it easier for you to teach and simpler for the students to learn.

Will you share your answers to students “why do I have to learn this?” questions? For me some answers come naturally. Like with fractions: cooking, time measurement, oil changes, sharing a pie ect but other subjects are more difficult and I feel this generation really thrives when they know the why. Thanks!

I think teaching fractions can be so much fun. 1st step is to put the kids at ease. Math doesn’t have to be scary. Using visuals and manipulative is something I would use as well. Thank you.
