I love students using manipulatives it not only helps them but also helps their confidence in trying.
I love my pattern blocks and I just started using the base ten blocks. It was eye opening to me when I started seeing my kids understand the “why” the concepts worked instead of just “here’s a rule”. 😁
Love the pattern blocks for fractions and the base 10 blocks for decimals and whole numbers. Your Mix and Math 360 is a HUGE help for me.

Hi Ana! I am so glad this was helpful for you! Hope you are having a wonderful school year!
I wish we had time to use these manipulatives in Pre-cal class.
think it’s great to have upper grades use manipulatives. It can really help them get a better and stronger understanding of fractions, patterns and all of that!
I love all of these different ideas to help kids learn math and help relate it to the real world, so they can understand it better.

I am so glad that you found this helpful Alana!
Base ten blocks are great for teachers to have as a Math manipulative because they are very flexible, for example you can change the value to decimals.
Love the pattern block idea for teaching fractions.

How can I use Cuisenaire rods effectively in my 5th grade math class?

Hi Lorraine! They're great to use as unlabeled fraction tiles (if you don't already have them), equivalent measurements and measurement conversions, or use to represent tape diagrams. Also, you can use them for fraction multiplication (fraction of a whole/fraction of a fraction). Though, for that last example I prefer to use pattern blocks, so that is only if you don't have access to pattern blocks!
Can you provide the Omni-cube link? I looked on Amazon, but was not having any success.
