Prepare and warm up yourself
It’s important to prepare yourself before the small talk, just as a football player does the warm up before an important match OR a lawyer jots down important points before appearing for a court hearing. If you are a shy person this is the most essential step to master small talks. What you can do is shortlist hot topics and your experience related to it, this would help you to talk about these topics confidently and would never be short of words.
Be the first one
Are you one of those who is hung back when it comes to starting a conversation. Well, then be the first one , just be confident and start the conversation. To begin the conversation, start with a smile, make an eye contact, this gives a positive signal to the other person and creates a positive energy. Now then just hit the nail and start the conversation.
Listen actively
Listening actively helps you to pick up facts in a conversation and build a mental picture and continue the conversation gracefully. Listening actively gives you the time to construct phrases to keep the conversation moving.
Avoid unpleasant topics
Small talks are causal conversations, so avoid topics such as recession, layoffs etc. These are very sensitive topics and create an argument. Unpleasant topics don’t create a positive image about you. So always stick to lighter topics such as movies, shopping, life in the city etc., and avoid unpleasant topics.
End the conversation gracefully
As you start the conversation positively, you need to end it well. Never end the conversation abruptly and move by just saying ‘Bye’. Appreciate the conversation you had with the person and end it gracefully. This shows you value the other persons time.
We hope these tips are useful for you, and you would feel confident when it comes to starting a conversation. Do not forget to subscribe to Skillopedia - The place to learn skills for the real world.

I don't think seeing small talk as useless means you're shy or too afraid to socialize. Every little thing isn't worth commenting on. I dunno about you, but I don't look forward to talking about things I don't care about

These small talks are used to make new friends specifically, obviously you are not going to use these to communicate with your best friend but just to start a conversation with a stranger and get to know them.

I believe you meant, "introverted" people, not "shy" people. Shyness is more to do with social anxiety, a fear of social disapproval, humiliation, criticism or rejection. Introverts loathe small talk, because it doesn't lead anywhere. We prefer deep, meaningful conversations--something that small talk won't accomplish.

Not agreeing with the "small talk does not lead anywhere"-part. Small talk is KEY to somewhat more meaningful conversations, or do you just go to a random person and talk about the possible meanings of life, all of the sudden...?

You run this channel so that people can develop their personality . On a viewer's demand , Can you make a video related to my problem . I am a 20 year old guy and I am being bullied by my friends .They laugh at me , make fun of me . What should I do ? I feel dejected and frustrated . I am suffering from verbal bullying & how can I make my mind creative . Thank You .

+Pranav Pandey I'm sorry to hear that.. I'm not Niharika but basically I just wanna bail you out of this problem. Perhaps you hear people talk much about the positiveness.I also tell you about that but actually it works in a different way. Imagine you're a good guy and no one can hurt you. They bullied you just because you're scared of them. If you spoke your problem out and fight for good things, you would realise who you really are. You're 20-year old man not a child, you can do anything you want to do. Live your own life and think you can do it. Actually it does work well. Everything you have got is up to you. You are the only one to create your life. Stop thinking about being bullied by your friends and make different points between you and them by studying harder and harder. Good luck! x
