5 Tips for Posing and Photographing Awkward People
Many of us are extremely awkward in front of the camera. Even for me, I've film over 100 videos for KZread now, and I still feel unconfident in front of the lens. Empathy is the name of the game when you want to posing and photograph awkward or introverted people.
Assess how you, yourself, feel in front of the camera and come up with solutions to those problems. Ask your subjects how they feel and don't be afraid to experiment with ideas to warm them up for the camera.

it's a good refresher!
1. Make them sit comfortably instead of standing to warm them to the idea of photos. 2. Sit, kneel, or lay on the ground for easy relaxed poses. 3. Have them interact with their clothing for some easy go to hand poses. Having closed up limbs feels more secure than an excited pose with arms in the air. 4. Have them breath and close their eyes. Then open them to a relieved expression. 5. Show the photos to them and get excited because it'll help them lighten up.

These are great tips. I always have a hard time getting my friends to open up when they're not use to getting their pictures taken. I'm def going to incorporate these into my next shoot. Which coming up shortly btw.

I've just found one of your video thanks to my recommendation. It's funny because i don't really do portrait but i started to watch it anyway. I have to say you're a very "pedagogue" person (not sure of this expression in english, its not my native language) and you're chill. Great format, you go straight to the point with good example. Honestly i'm happy, for once, the youtube algorithm have done is job perfectly ahah ! Good work, i will keep an eye on your channel.

Great tips but please understand that introverted does not mean awkward or shy. Those are different things. An introvert is just someone who gets tired by being around people, nothing more, nothing less.

OMG I WAS ENJOYING THIS VIDEO UNTIL 5:29 WHEN YOU SAID "PEACE!" IT RUINED THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE FOR ME!!!! WHATS UP WITH THAT MAN!!!! LOL For real though my students were laughing at the title of the video when I pulled it up and I turned to them "I don't know what you guys are laughing at, you've all taken your share of awkward photos!" Great video, How to videos always come in handy for my high schoolers, especially coming from younger photographers.
