I have a toy poodle that was a rescue and when I got her she was skin and bones and mats. I got her all cleaned up, vet check and hand fed home cooked meals to her. I take her everywhere, we play with toys together. When I got her she weighed 5 lbs now after 4 years she weighs 10 lbs. She is so smart and learns quickly, jumps straight up on the chairs and spreads Joy wherever she goes, she is happy in the morning and even in the evening she yawns and smiles. She wants to be with me always, I am 72 and I appreciate her.

Mine had anxiety when I left her, as I took her to my hair salon every day. We were not separate much, and sleeps on my bed. Then I got another dog and she is fine never missing me when I went out. A Bull Terrier was her best buddy. The Bull Terrier died at 11yrs first, she was so sad & stayed close to me as we needed each other.

My girl came to us when she was nearly four years old and came from a family with mom and two little girls. She does have separation anxiety and we don’t know if we caused that or she came to us with it. She’s never liked to be alone and we always try to ensure she’s never alone too long. I hope she lives as long as I do and I’m close to 75. She sleeps with us and rarely goes in her own bed. ☺️

My toy poodle is one year old, attached to me. But when I leave him home with others, he is ok. He gets extremely exited when I return, it doesn’t matter if it was 5 minutes or 5 hours. Same level of excitement. He likes to chase his cat sisters all the time around the house. He follows commands mostly. He was fast at potty training when we first adopted him. Adorable little creature. I think he understands me when I talk to him. At least I’d like to believe so.

We sadly just inherited my Mother-in-Law's 6 lb (!!!) white toy poodle (Lily is 10 years old) and she is the silver lining to the horrible Fall 2022 we have had. MIL passed very recently. I love this dog. She is blossoming at my house which already has 4 Treeing Walker Coonhounds (all 75 lbs+). The animal is so smart. We just had to get used to looking down in our house now! Such a munchkin. It's funny to see her try to play with my hounds who still don't quite know what to think of this little angel. She has her forever home with us xoxo

Our toy, Mojo, was pitch black from a breeder, but now gray at almost 18 years old. Been a marvelous companion for the two of us. Quiet, clean, lovable, and redefines "lap dog." Unfortunately, he has been deaf and blind past two years, but he's a trooper and still tries his best to be a snuggly, lovable dog and we give him an extra measure of love as well. He still a happy dog.

One of the best ways to avoid your poodle (or any dog) from having Separation Anxiety is to try and leave them in short periods of time, come back, then lengthen it like from 15 seconds, to 30 to 45, etc. It will give them some assurance that you will come back and they're still safe. And never leave your poodles bored. They are part of the working breed so they needed physical and mental simulation. You can give them dog puzzles to pass the time when you need to go out or train them a new trick because they love pleasing their owners.

My little 11 month old red toy poodle boy, Ollie, is just getting out of his teenage terrors and I couldn’t be more relieved. During the day, he is the chillest, laziest, most cuddly dog. At night however, he turns into a raging nibbling psychopath! I would mention that toy breeds are more susceptible to dental issues in the teething stage as a lot of the time, the adult teeth grow faster than the baby teeth can fall out. This causes the adult teeth to grow not in the correct place and is just incredibly painful. Actually, our boy got 11 baby teeth extracted at 7 months, but the vet still missed two. He only really stopped teething I would say at 9 months but it really impacted his bite inhibition training plus our bond. We’ve finally gotten to a much better place, and I would never trade him for the world.

Yes..my 13 week old toy acts very naughty at night, when he's getting tired, and breaks all the rules, so I'am happy to put him to bed..he sleeps all night from 7.45 pm until 7am so I'am lucky there..but I never knew what I was in for with the hard work during the day, taking him outside every hour training him, and watching him constantly as he wants to chew everything including me..I have little bights every where on my arms and hands, be glad when the puppy stage is over..

Even though i leave him alone once in a while, but when I come home he has a dessaster all over with his training pads. But i think he well behaves and stays asleep. Then when i get home he happy im home. Another issue i have is putting him inside the cage. He barks alot when I put him there while i clean. He gets so mad!. The bitting is awful, he is playful, and sleeps all night. I assure to play with him and get him tired so he sleeps all night.

My mum said she will never be allowed in her bedroom, but it didn't take long for he to say Borami will be sleeping in parent's bed haha Borami is sensitive, alert, but sweet and loving. She is also good at being alone for a few hours, and always welcomes us with happiness. She became a good member of the family.

I have a toy poodle who was 2 when I got him. He was rehomed to me from a home with lots of dogs (breeder) and was very sensitive. He weighs 10.5 pounds, so he's not tiny. He's super affectionate, very gentle and peaceful, and very playful with fetching and catching balls. He is very smart. I don't pick him up all the time and I try not to overspoil him, though perhaps I do to some extent - as he sleeps with me. He loves people who he knows when they come over. So he is very social as long as the person is very loving nad sweet towards him. He is alone for several hours a day while I work. Not ideal, but he seems okay with it and I think saying there are 5 things you must NEVER do doesn't consider the individual dog. I will be retiring in 2 years so it will be better. He doesn't like children at all. I used to have a 12 year old on my street walk him, but he now hides under the bed so I have to find an adult who can walk him just a bit some days if I am later than usual. I know it's not perfect but he is alone 8 hours 4-5 times a week. He needs a lot of encouragement with people. If they take the time to get him on their side, he is a lover boy. If someone couldn't care less about him, he is uncomfortable. Luckly, I have most totally gaga crazy dog lovers visiting in my home. Well, you know I can't help that he is alone while I work. Life isn't always perfect that way. He doesn't show any signs of upset when I leave, but when I return home from a day at work, I make a big fuss over him and make sure to play a lot with him. He is loving and sweet and I believe he is a very happy little dog. I adore him!

My baby boy, Toto is a 16 yo tan mini whom we rescued at 1 yo. We fell madly in love and he’s been my shadow ever since. He’s the sweetest most Angelic pup I’ve ever had and I worry about him. Lately he’s been making a sound like an owl - high pitched, rapid trill and seeing the vet tomorrow. I’m scared to death of what he might tell me. He’s arthritic and loves massages. He snuggles and snores and is my furry child. His ashes will be placed with mine forever. ❤

I have a Cavoodle, too! This video mentioned “toy” poodles, but other than the ones that looked like true puppies, the rest looked like the larger mini poodle. My Cavy is hybrid with a mini poodle (and apparently a back and white King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, cuz Mia is white with charcoal gray & black), and she is bigger than I thought she’d be. She’s 20 months old and weighs around 15 lbs. She has nice, long legs, and a surprisingly long body. I think she has more of the KCCSpaniel in her than mini-poo. She’s very smart and incredibly sweet. Aren’t you and I lucky to have such an adorable breed!! 💞

She’s starting to alert bark, although she still doesn’t know what’s important and what’s not to bark at. Acknowledge it when she barks, but don’t let her bark for long whenever she does it. That way when she does it at night, a quick no should get her to stop. Also try exercising and mentally stimulating her more during the day rather than just letting her sleep.

I would just like to inform your about how only, 00:8 seconds into the video I saw a clear problem. I would just like to tell you about how although Toy Poodles are small it is only the second smallest poodle. It goes from poodle to miniature poodle, to toy poodle, and the smallest, tea cup poodle. This is a detail that in the future you should express. I would also like to explain that not all toy poodle behaviors are to be treating as you explained in the video. My own toy poodle loves attention, kids, and strangers. Not to mention how obedient he is saying he gets carried quite a bit. Certain aspects of the video, as a toy poodle owner, I can relate to, but some are just stereotypes that should be addressed. I appreciate the time you took to reading this, I feel that these things should be stated more in videos about how "All of the species or breed act in one way".

Oh I have a 13 week old blue black toy poodle...he is beautiful, but I will be glad when he stops biting me, and I'am finding him difficult with food, doesn't like anything I purchase for him..I buy gluten, wheat, and maize free (grain free) food, from pet store, have changed twice now, but he wont eat either, so I'm cooking him a variety of different minces, and trying to get him to eat vegetables mixed through the mince, but looks at everything with disgrace and walks away, so Im throwing his food away constantly and trying to hand feed him a little here and there..he's a very naughty boy, but I guess he's still a baby...any advice would be helpful.. Cheers Sonia

Hi My toy poodle is the same and he's now 7 months. He is a very fussy eater, and we have wasted so much food. We do not stress about it though, we just put a little food down and if he doesn't eat it, I just take it away and add things he may like to it, like different meats and he eats kibble from a bowl too. I hand feed him chicken pieces too which he likes and little pup treats. We have tried not giving him any treats but he still looks at his 'dog' food in tentative disgrace, which is something I have never known before with a dog. How is your dog doing now? did you find anything that he settled on?

I have a toy poodle and she loves to go out but she doesn't get along with other dogs, she looks like she wants to but then fights and bites them so I have to keep her away from other dogs, is there anything I can do to stop this behavior? I would love to be able to take her to a dog park or let her play with other dogs.

Way to stop it is by socializing your pup more. Frequent association with other dogs will enable your pup to learn proper interactions and reactions to other dogs. She may be reacting that way because she is uncertain of how to communicate properly with other dogs. Socialize her more, preferably with calmer dogs, but do it in a controlled environment, so you’ll be able to observe what goes on and stop your dog before she becomes aggressive.

our toy poodle Piper went to doggie heaven suddenly and we are heartbroken. Searching and. it will hard because she was perfect. We are home 24/7 and if we go on trips we either took her or had sitter stay at our home. Quite neighborhood and everyone on the block has a dog.

They’re small dogs, so a lot of running and jumping on a hard surface will have a harder impact on their legs.

The only thing is that she have to work and the poodle will be home all day in his crate until she comes home. You say it can cause Separation Anxiety. I don;t like that.

we have a teacup poodle. i disagree with point 4. unfortunately there are times we need to leave him alone all day. when we do this we tell him that hes staying alone and he goes and sits in his bed and goes to sleep. never ever has he had a problem. never ever tried to destroy something. we always take him for exercise afterwards but as far as we can see he seems to sleep literally the whole time. maybe we got lucky...
