For people who complain about waiting in line, come in when it’s not busy. Google maps will tell you what times the store will be busy, and not busy.

Customers have no respect when they shop. They tear things apart without any regard for the associates who technically don't have time to clean it all up. It's frustrating as hell

Omg customers complain about waiting all the time!! I honestly tell them "You have a choice..." Wait or leave. I couldn't care less either way lol

And then as soon as they finally leave, we (the employees) complain about how they were in the store for an hour and trying on things, wrecking dressing rooms, then leave to only buy a couple items

I recently worked in front of a retail store as a Salvation Army bell ringer. It was only for 6 weeks. Some thought I was employed by the store. I said " no way jose"! Never will work for ANY store!

That's the only time I work retail is to just pick up some extra cash. Busy doesn't bother me, makes the day go by faster.

Try spending 2 or 3 hours perfect folding and a customer just destroys everything in a few seconds now you standing there wanting to commit murder

Man I swear you're gonna blow up and get much bigger, this is unreal

@@fiirephoenix3166 Me too. Worked at a grocery store from October 2016 to April 2017 as a Courtesy Clerk from April 2017 to November 2017 I then was promoted to a cashier but quit in November. I thought working at a clothing store would be easier. Well, I was wrong. Thanksgiving came and the fitting rooms were a disaster and the women's department was a disaster. I couldn't keep up. When it came to deciding who got to stay the let me go. I now work at a sporting goods store. I don't hate, it but I don't love it.

I work in retail. I sometimes get asked "do you work here" when I'm clearly shopping myself. Guess I just look like someone who works in a store. Last time someone asked me, I could even answer their question haha. I work at the train station at the moment, the most frequent question is about train departure times. Do we look like time tables to you? Do you have a bin? Yeah, but why don't you use those huge trash bins all over the train station? My train leaves in one minute, is that enough time for you to make me a coffee. No, a good qualtiy coffee takes more time. I hate it when a customers wants to pay by card, but hardly hold the card long enough. They run off to catch the train, but the transaction did not work...

The worst is the customers who drop a pair of pants beside you. on the ground. legs inside out. they don't hand them to me, just throw them down when looking at me.

"It's the weekend, what did you expect?" or "It's the first of the month, everyone got paid. What did you expect?"

Seriously, you don't want me to type what me and my coworkers say about the customers in private!! LOL but I will say, we come up with the great ones and then we laugh and laugh and then realize we have to go back out on the floor and get more crap from the customers before the day is over.

Some customers have superiority complexes. "Why should I have to wait in line with these common plebs?!" lol

One time when I was the only person on till (which is most of the time in fast food) a customer at the back of the line said: "Do you think you could put someone else on till?" I don't remember what I said to her. My manager was standing next to me doing manger-stuff I think he responded to her. But what I wanted to say is "Well seeing as there are only 3 people in front of you - including the person I am currently severing - no."

I work at a bakery and there is no line. People just stand around the display like a horde. You just have to know who came first. I won't serve people on the phone (I'll say something oh you're on the phon,e then I won't bother you)

I'm working a JCPenney. I'll be there for a year in June. It's much better than when I worked at Journeys haha. It's pretty chill. Nowhere near as crazy as my job at Journeys.

I've had to write out math on receipt paper for customers so many times, and they still pull the calculator out on their phone...They think I'm pulling some kind of trick on their phone and have changed the rules of addition. Then they really get mad when I hit "total" and the sales tax is added. I got to the point where I am just honest with my customer. De-escalation with angry customers is my goal. I tell them look- we are understaffed, my coworker didn't come back from their break, a lot of people called out today. Most of the time I can calm them down where they don't ask to speak to a manager (my manager will just tell them the same thing I told them- I KNOW how to do my job, honesty is not against company policy). As long as you stay calm and polite. Don't cuss, don't start arguing, do say you're sorry for their inconvenience if you have to refer them to the customer service line (that YOU KNOW will put them on hold for half an hour). I still have to call my manager over, but I have to call them over a lot less, then they can get their work done, and maybe then I don't have to stay as late after my shift is over. I think every retailer is bare bones staff now, customers need to realize we don't always have "backup that we can call", yes where is that magic hidden employee? Sometimes the customer even sympathizes with me and realizes I am a human, but that's rare. Also how much does it suck to be a cashier all day then go to buy your groceries and have to ring yourself up at the robot checkout? Is it just me?

One christmas the day b4 a customer complained she had to wait a long time . So I said you know what day it is

Yeah, I got to the point in my job, I just tell customers how it actually is. We're understaffed, people called out today, my coworker never came back from their break, etc. It's much easier to tell the truth than keep up the bulls***. Then they sometimes deescalate and sympathize with me. So then I have to call my manager over less for help with my angry customer, and my manager leaves me alone because I let them get their work done instead of having to call them over every 5 minutes. As long as you stay polite and calm when explaining the situation to the customer, most of them get it and calm down themselves. Some even realize you are a human.

As someone that's worked in retail for sec Ed Co up yr in a bubble that is a safe zone if fuck up the safe zone yr in garrteens that it's not yr fleat but as soon as u get out of that safe zone when u fisnh high-school since yr not in that safe zone yr left to all the bs pll will throw at its a big reality check when finish high-school working in retail becomes a hole dirent story

Go to the mall and go to every store and apply to every single one, usually a few will let you set up an interview after that, if everything goes good you'll have a job

Some customer's are inconsiderate pigs that feel entitled the customer isn't always right! Lol ....

Depending on the customer I give them a few seconds to think about their question and look them in the eye. If they still don't get it, I'll say something like " like you can see on that price tag, it says ...)

I worked at Walmart....injured my leg working as a people greeter...after a while I became a cashier.....developed severe anxiety and depression from the job
