How to Open a Retail Store in 2024

How to open a Retail Store 2024
Hey again guys, we have a had a some messages on some tips and tricks on how to open a retail store, so we decided to do a quick response video.
It has been just over a year on opening a grocery store and to be honest it has been a whirlwind of emotions. Our main focus now is to find enough inventory to offer a wide variety of selection to every customer that walks in our door!
I believe that we are programmed to need selection in order to believe our trip to a store was worthwhile. Our goal for this year was to expand our inventory into quick sales that people will buy again and again.
This video is based on a grocery store, however it can help with any questions relating to how to open a retail store. The principles remain the same, the inventory changes and the amount of time you have to sell certain items certainly changes as well.
Anyways I can talk forever on this topic and that is what the next videos are for so I will stop now.
Ray

I'm just finding your video now. Great video, and I appreciate your knowledge. I am the proud owner of 3 stores and we just celebrated 10 years in business. I too just uploaded a video with the same title as you (but 2020). I want to wish you much success, but it seems like you're on the track greatness. All the best! Chris

hey guys Im so happy to see how much you have improved ever since I saw one of your earlier vlogs. Remember I was the one who had a comment exchange with you and am also a new business owner. Retail. Grocery. Convenience. Your story is a hopeful story. i too have improved some. I’m beginning to finally be able to pay myself. Came a long way from paying out of pocket for rent. Still working crazy hours and nearing my physical and mental limits but its only a matter of time before I’m able to hire help. At this point in time, 9 months in, I still dont know if my place is going to be a success or failure. I’m going to give it another 3 months and either stay or leave. What about you guys. How do you feel about your place thus far. Do you see a good future or do you have mixed feelings. and also your so lucky to have each other side by side through this risky investment, you dont know how terrible a feeling it is to put everything on the line coupled with having no one by your side to distract you from the stream of scary thoughts and stressful moments and mini anxiety attacks lol. I wish you guys the best and much success.

So nice hearing from you again. Honestly, it is an uphill battle. People want things one week, the next week you can't give it away for free. I know we have improved but I am still aware that this is a game of patience. It will take a long time to really build it to all that it can be, and who knows if I even want to wait that long! Can you leave or are you assigned to a lease? Oh I have had my anxiety attacks often usually when I find we have to throw away more product than usual!

@@lifeasiknowit89 I have the option to sell my lease, thats the only way out. I have gotten offers from local store owners, but I'm so stuck in indecision. I've worked so hard to fix and renovate the business that it just really sucks to have to hand it over to the next person after all that I've done. I have this singular fear of selling it off only to see it flourish and essentially lose twice. but I guess this is the nature of business I guess. its definitely a learning curve.

I want to open a store that doesn’t sell alcohol or cigarettes. I know people like to buy it quickly but it goes against my religion. Also, in my area there were many police reports to people who have been DUI, or minors from the beer sold from stores. I don’t want to deal with stuff like that are bad for your health. This is why I looked to your videos for inspiration. Store that has stuff people need.

Depending where you live, you might need to be within a certain distance from the nearest liqour store anyways in order to sell it. We asked a few stores around us about cigarette sales and the profit is very low. If you have a vision for your store, follow it. You may make changes to it over time but change is good and come change, brings new opportunities. Thanks for watching!!

Hey My friend, it really comes down to location. It is honestly the most important thing. Make sure your location is accessible, and conistently open as convenience in this business is the most important thing. Everything needs to be clean all the time! Parking is almost a Must for people nowadays. Please take some time and watch our videos as there is more in depth info throughout!

Hey Jill, Well to be honest Square seems like the best option for most small retailers. They seem to have the lowest fees and easiest software to use. We do not use Square because we have alot of products that need to be weighed and priced accordingly so we use "Shopkeep." Which has the features we need to use a scale for many of our transactions.
