    Not just that, birds themselves literally are dinosaurs! They're a specific group, referred to as "avian theropods," and they fall under the clade Maniraptora, which includes birds, dromaeosaurids ("raptors"), therizinosaurids, ornithomimosaurs, etc.

    No machinery ordered from the Acme Company was present in this kitchen, which would be a reason for these birds to feel safe enough to enter - although none of those Acme devices ever succeed in capturing any roadrunners regardless.

    @@WaaDoku Search up microraptor and come back... Hoatzin is literally the modern day microraptor. Hoatzins are even born with spurs which they use to climb as fledglings. Roadrunners look much more like typical bird species, not even the most dinosaur looking cuckoo sp. Feel extremely offended about the chicken comments... they look nothing alike. Also chickens have a wild alternative- Red junglefowl. Ouch again...

    When my sister lived in Texas, these birds were all over the place. They’d race along side your car and then stop at the edge of what they considered their territory. Don’t know if they were challenging you to a race or escorting you out of what they considered their property. Really neat birds, always thought they were smarter than what a lot of people think of them….

    @@jena.alexia They are a big bird, but not as big as emu. More like Kookaburra or big rooster size. Cockatoo. They are definitely humorous birds. If some pass nearby, it is a special day for sure. I've never seen a Roadrunner indoors before. This kitchen is a Magical Place on Planet Earth.

    Not really small they stand like a foot and a half tall sometimes a little more. They tower over something like a chicken. Also the rare time they actually fly you can see how huge their wingspan is with full broad wings. Also they are very smart inquisitive guys. A lot of fun to watch.

    These little guys are so cute. They do get quite a bit more majestic when they get bigger, though. Seeing the rare one start/stop his way through the yard and hop effortlessly over the fence with a single flap is really something special.

    The rattling noise they make used to scare me as a kid while quail hunting with my dad in azrizona because we had just seen jurassic park lol. Roadrunners are so cool now that im older.

    They are such cool and interesting birds! I grew up in a desert town in California and roadrunners were a regular visitor that literally would walk/run down the road in front of my house. My elementary school mascot was the roadrunners. 😊❤

    We had two Kookaburras diving into our pool today. Bathing time. When I feed them they have a habit of taking my whole finger into their beak. Their ‘bite’ force is not very strong I’ve discovered.

    I know that roadrunners are in the same family as cuckoos, Cuculidae. Funny, the kookaburra is not in that family, they are in the Kingfisher family. Huh! I had to look it up because I assumed with a name like kookaburra... Both delightful birds!

    It's interesting to see how friendly wild birds can be. In Australia it's possible to get this familiar with some birds - magpies & currawongs, rosellas and kookaburras

    2 weeks ago I saw one in the late afternoon at Pacoima Spreading Grounds residential area - I was riding my bicycle and the roadrunner was like 10 feet in front of me - amazing plumage - I was surprised!😊

    We had a road runner constantly showing up to this place I used to work at. She kept trying to build nests in the engine bays of the semi trucks we used, we had to keep removing the nests because if someone started the truck up with her in it she’d most likely be killed. Eventually she got the message and made her nest in a nearby bush

    I have been feeding roadrunners for about 4 years now. (raw hamburger) There are different ones each year, I think. They are so smart! They will look in the window at me to get my attention. Creepy! When I look at them they look so mean, so yes I am thinking dinosaur birds too. My bird only likes me. If anyone else is around he/she leaves. One has walked in my front door before. And he likes serloin the best. When I buy cheap burger, he only eats one and leaves. ha ha ha ha

    Yes, Roadrunners can differentiate people they know and trust from people they don't know. I've read that it's not good to feed them raw hamburger. I feed them dried mealworms, like buy in big bags for their chickens.

    That’s really neat that the roadrunners all know and trust you. Try giving them thawed, frozen mice instead of the hamburger. This is closer to something they would catch and eat in the wild.

    My favorite bird, the roadrunner. I had 2 roadrunners that I was feeding, the male hasn't showed up in a week after coming everyday. I'm worried about him, the female(his mate) still comes everyday and I name them both of them and talked to them all the time, well now just her. I hope in winter when food is hard to get the male comes back, I miss him, he was a good pet, very friendly, and he took food from my hand.

    @@antonios7353 No he never came back after the July fireworks The mate was coming for about 6 months and found another mate she never brought her mate by and they both disappeared for good. I hope they didn't get eaten by the hawk that was watching me feed them. I felt like a kid, I name them and felt horrible after they stop coming by. I have been hearing the mate call lately, I doubt that it was them. Thanks for asking. They were so cute to me.

    They are now both gone, they don't come anymore. I hope they are still alive. I was so attached to both of them. I haven't seen any roadrunners this year but I hear them near by.

    funny thing is, many of the dinos on Jurassic Park probably looked more like roadrunners than however they looked in the movies, esp. velociraptor (which had feathers and a long tail like a roadrunner)

    I thought they were really hard to find and very shy, but I guess they're not very shy at all and not hard to find you got six of them in your kitchen. you should go to the pet shop and invest in some mealworms for them so next time they come to visit you'll have a snack for them and get them a bowl of water. Very cool😎😀😁
