As long as it wasn't poorly made. I would have waited couple of years before starting to give away gifts. Remember back when you were a kid and made really bad drawings? Don't wanna be that guy as an adult =P Just sayin.

@@teogabrielsson4717 I can see what you are saying, but it's all about staying within your skill limitations. My dad watches this channel and he keeps telling me to make the first keychain I made for him years ago from a Michaels bag of scraps. This past Sunday he told me he still uses it every day and loves it. Thanks Pops!

This video reminds me of 2016, when somebody released a very similar style video for Kydex holsters…. Now the market is saturated with garbage and it was a race to the bottom for who could sell the cheapest holster just to try and stay relevant.

Thank you for making this more accessible to everybody! I like that there are a bunch of things to make and you can do anything from delicate, like fine leather goods (wallets, purses, things like that), to heavy duty hard use items (tool belt carriers, knife sheaths, holsters, etc). You can go so many different ways, and there's a project for everybody. Just don't look at your first project or two and think "wow I suck at this, I'm gonna quit." Everybody's first project comes out like this. Start with inexpensive leather, and lower cost tools. Baby steps. Practice stitching, practice setting a straight stitch line, practice cutting angles and curves. Build a basic skill set, then build on that. Making things is very good for you, it feeds some part of our souls that wishes to be productive.

I just bought my first leathers and tools and what actually surprised me is that I didn't really need many tools to get started, what you really need is leather, needle, thread, something to punch holes, something to cut and glue. I'm from Spain and for literally 60€ I just bought 0.5 m^2(5.4ft^2) of veg tan leather, 1.5 m^2(16ft^2) of chrome tan leather and some needles and thread. The leather is in pieces of around 0.5x0.5 m (1.64x2 1.64 ft).

excellent video!!! your quality in production of the video tutorial alone is inspiring leave alone the already wonderful explanations of basic tools, possibilities (i didn't even consider belts man i was looking at my longtime purses, satchels and luggage when initially considering this). wonderful video and resource and even if i never end up committing to this craft, i very much hope someone who's as drawn to this as the people that have crafted the beautiful leather pieces i've owned and encountered clearly were. this is a wonderful introductory video and i hope it finds lots of folks. i think that a lot of us, particularly younger folk but truly folks of all ages feel a strange sensation of knowing "everything" but still feeling ultimately lost. in that regard, i believe a trade like this is where we can focus our minds, bodies, and souls, not through any over saturated form of help but through the satisfaction (and frustration, particularly in early stages, but as you explain, the satisfaction through practice and inspiration) of craftsmanship. it's powerful. thank you for sharing a way to start.
