Ugh, yes. Inconsistent people, in general, make me pull away. If I’m having to guess things, like hearing from you, it makes me confused and confusion makes me pull back, so that I don’t feel confused; I feel better. And if I feel better when you’re not around, well, I start to want to be without you.

A man who is self centered, or controlling. I learned the red flags of a narcissist by being involved with one for 20+ yrs. Run ladies. It only gets worse as you become more involved. Years later I met a wonderful man who is perfect for me. 5+ yrs now. Very happy.

This happened to me early in a relationship, where we promised to be completely honest with each other, and that was something we both valued highly! I called him on not doing what he said he was going to do, he got a little fluffy at first, and then got a hold of himself and then completely apologized. That apology, when I was not easy on him at all, grabbed my heart! He is turning out to be a high value man of his word, that I appreciate more every day!

What makes me pull away is when my man is insecure about himself, seeks repeated reassurance of our relationship, is jealous, is dominating to such a degree which limits my freedom and independence.

He asks about my projects in life or what I like and then he puts it down, or worse, tells me it's not a goal and what I should do. 3.He gets physical too fast. Touches with his hand on my body when I'm not even there yet. 4. He can't stop making everything about him. 5.excessive bragging. 6. He doesn't respond to what I talk about, but starts talking about something completely different. 7. He assumes too much. 8. Too self assured that he is the hottest piece in town. 9. “Giving him the opportunity to invest.” YES! I finally caught on to that in my current relationship (going on a year) and the reward for us as women is incredible. While the waiting may seem hard for the moment, your mind is so much more reassured when you let him take initiative and then you get to reward him with your response. There will come a time where you can give more, but still give him space to pursue. It’s the best and the sweetest that way :) Let him pursue in his way. Of course ask for your needs too…something I’m still trying to figure out! And manage expectations :)

Also. In my case I fell in love with my guy over a month before he told me. But I let him be the first to say it. And I think he fell in love with me way sooner…just needed to find the right time and way to say it. It was perfect and I’m SO glad I waited for him to say it.

what causes me to pull away from a man: 1. Being unreliable (constantly being late; not following up on what he says), 2. Being disrespectful (swearing, name calling, ignoring me in public), 3. Being overly flirtatious with other women when I'm with him, 4. only talking about himself, 5. being too unpredictable and pushy, 6. being overly "feminist" (not holding doors, insisting every time that we share the bill, etc.).

I pull away when the man slacks. I've been in a relationship where he started off strong (he was active, respectful, fun, and he was proactive in life). Then as soon as he feels comfortable and earns that label, all of the things that drew me to him, fall by the wayside. He became inconsiderate/disrespectful, lazy and slobbish, didn't have fun anymore and sucked the joy out of life with constant negativity, and finally he became stagnant in life. I was in that relationship for years, even sticking by his side for a year while he was being ugly. I gave him the chance, until his negative attitude was transferring onto me. I'm guilty of #1, btw.

Thank you for the advice. I've been married for 15 years and honestly, I don't know how to "behave" on dates.

Shaping yourself to get him to like you only sharing the parts you think he’ll like and not your uniqueness (instead be yourself so the right one gets to discover you). 4. Declaring your love too early (let him lead the emotional pacing and don’t outpace him here. You lead the physical). 5. Needing to define the relationship without giving it the room to breathe (instead give it the time it needs to define itself). Ha! I did all of these with my best friend early in the friendship. How embarrassing. Good thing he’s a good man who could handle all that and stick around through and past it. I’ve never had such a good relationship in my life (friendship or otherwise) so I’m glad I got through it too or I’d have missed out on someone and something so precious to me.

I wasn’t sure if I should in case it’s not helpful for the person who posted the video but for me, sometimes even after watching a video through a couple times I don’t remember what the points are (I really like this man’s videos because it makes it clear. Some don’t at all) so I wrote them for me, and once I was done I figured I may as well.

I guess, when a guy wants to pull away, then it simply means that he doesn't want to go any further because he actually didn't fall in love. However, if the two had a great fun together, why not continue as friends? Friendship is much underrated. I hope to start out as friends with my future partner. There's no pressure on doing lovers' stuff since there's no relationship goal. However, if a guy is afraid of commitment or he doesn't want to put a label, he certainly qualifies for eternal friend zone.

When I first start talking to a guy, if he persists on telling me that he isn't a cheater and that he always does everything for the girls he dates, but is always the one to get hurt, then I will walk away. When a guy comes off insecure or victimized, I can't help but know that he is a mental case and that is why he is single. I will instantly turn away from any guys who is classless, disrespectful, and vulgar. That is a huge turn off. Guys who objectify women and are constantly looking at other women and talking about how hot they are, disgusts me greatly. Also, if a guy is a constant drinker and has to get himself sauced every night, then he is definitely not for me.

This was so on point for me. I recently started a relationship with a WONDERFUL man (about 6 weeks ago). Based on what he has told me about his past relationships (major ones) they were verbally and physicaly abusive towards him. So, I thought if I showed him my true self (totally opposite of his past women) that would be the way to go. Well, I think as you said to much to fast. So I struggle with communicating to my man what I need. Even when I express it in a loving respectful way he shuts down and “feels like a failure” rather than just accepting what I need. Which is weird bc men love sex suggestions but anything else destroys their confidence

Mat, you are a really good speaker and just love listening to you. Actually it's been more than 2 years I'm in a relationship after my hubby passed (almost 10 yrs) I love this guy so much. Being too familiar/intimate too soon. Such as using “pet names” within the first few days we are talking. Saying good morning and goodnight before we’ve even met. Complimenting my appearance in a first message. I know you think I look good or you wouldn’t have matched and spoken to me. Being sexual or trying to talk about sex too quickly. I remember I was talking to a guy and within a few messages, he was asking me if I was in bed and what I was wearing to bed. I stopped matching with men too late in the evening, so, hopefully, they aren’t tempted to ask.

What is too early? I’m not asking for labels but I’d like reassurance: 1. You discuss intentions in the beginning on first date or second. 2. Reassess or revisit around month two if there is uncertainty or if things are unclear if you’re dating exclusively or interested in taking things further. I don’t see that s as an issue.

I think if a guy gets physical with you, it is better to hey call for timeout and get some clarity unless you have absolutely no problem with just being a friend with benefits with him. If you aren't, then it is time to set things straight.

I would say six months is a good time. What’s more important is establishing an emotional connection and or making sure you have some of the same qualities. It’s not really the label that matters but if he sees you as possibly the one. You both can put the label on the relationship but it doesn’t fully mean anything unless your the one for him and vice versa

And what a man does to cause me to pull away is says he loves me too quickly. Had a guy do that after two months. That was a big no-go.

So if the man should say “I love you”!first. Leading emotionally first. What if he hasn’t said how he feels after 10 months? (He’s told me he deeply cares for me)

To me, one of the biggest turn-offs is a man bragging about his possessions and/or financials. I recently went out with an old friend (also divorced) who turned every conversation topic into a way to present something valuable he possessed (10 cars, boats, homes, property, etc.) It just shut down the enjoyment of the evening for me completely.

One of the most powerful tools that you can use is to write out all of your feelings. When you keep them bottled inside, you feel like you're going to burst! So, write everything you want to tell him on a piece of paper, and then rip it up and throw it away. You can write it like a letter to him. Do it every time you feel overwhelmed by your feelings, and you will feel so much better!

What to do when you have already done all of these things and ruined everything and now not in contact but the plus point is he still said he love me but still distant himself saying he have other priorities. I know I can get him back. I have no idea how?? Pls help

Labels too early aren't needed, but what I want to know is, if we've had a few dates and want to get physical, how many others are you at thatcsane level with? Not about a label, more about being a RN and not wanting to sleep with the results of how many others concurrently. So it's a dicey discussion.

You would want to know if the guy intends to do some serious dating or just want you as a friend with benefits right? I thought that is not "too early" to want some clarity.

The guy that I was talking to , started having bad communication, I told him that I felt disconnected and he never replied to my message , the last thing I said was that he ever wants to talk he can go to my house and have an adult conversation. I feel that I screwed up and I missed him but he is not texting me
