5-ish Ingredient Celery Root Soup | How To Cook Celery Root
SUBSCRIBE ➡️ bit.ly/2KyiBAF
Celery root is such a great but fairly under-used ingredient. It’s super versatile, really nutritious, not starchy at all, and it tastes like celery. What more could you ask for? I decided to throw together this really easy celery root soup and I only used about 5 ingredients, give or take a couple of optional garnishes. This smooth and creamy soup is low fat, low carb, and low maintenance. It’s fancy enough for a dinner party, but simple enough for a weeknight dinner. It also makes a perfect desk lunch.
Celery root-which by the way is also known as celeriac, is the perfect veg to blend into a soup for a number of reasons. Reason one - it’s big and substantial. If you get a nice big one, you can get a whole pot of soup out of just one celery root. Reason two - celery root blends so nicely into a silky smooth consistency, which makes for a luxuriously creamy soup, without needing to add cream or other dairy products.
Thanks for watching!

If you add a cooking apple while cooking, it will take it to the next level, because apple and celeriac are great flavour friends! Or don't add the apple, but use some orange zest instead. Delicious!

Hi...You have so much 'natural' charm that I found this vid mesmerizing...All that warmth and uninhibited openness was better for the soul than any soup could ever hope to be.. ..😊 If it hasn't already been mentioned, a pro tip for you... When blitzing stuff in a blender for a soup, I aim for a smooth or well pureed texture if that's what's required, but I want it to be 'too thick'. Then I roughly scrap the mix into the soup pot, add what extra liquid I think the soup will need to the blender jug, blitz that to pre-clean jug and pour the lot into the soup pot.....saves a lot of scraping and clean up is a sintch. Peace and icecream Kim

Ok. I’ve got it in my pressure cooker right now. Never had celery root, but here goes. You asked if there is a powerful stick blender, yes. Braun. Get the one with all the attachments! It dices, slices, chops, whisks, has a dough hook. The video says, it comes with a video, that it can chop a hard avacado pit… impressive. If I had to choose which is my favorite appliance, this, and the attachments, is it!

I discovered celery root when I first got to Germany and couldn't easily find celery. Doing keto, celerate route has been a great substitute for carrot. I did use the stalks in ZUPPA TOSCANA, But they do need to be cooked a little bit longer than the regular salary.

In parts of Croatia, a hunk of this root is often used to flavor soups and stews. I’ve made this four times now and it’s wonderful. My husband like this with potatoes. I like to garnish with some bacon and onions.

This is a wonderful pot of soup. I made it exactly as in the video. I have never bought celery root before because I never knew what it was or what to do with it. I went to a little polish market and there it was. So I bought one, came home and found your video. I love the mellowness of how the celery comes through. Oh, and I love your videos, Paula. Celery is controversial! To me, not liking celery is like not liking water or something! My DiL HATES celery which causes me no end of cooking issues since I put it in everything, but the drama is fierce at Thanksgiving regarding the dang dressing. 😂 Also controversial is the thickness of soups! I’m with you, Paula! “Thick” does not mean “congealed.” This discussion most frequently comes up about Clam Chowder. I wonder if wars have been started and marriages ended over food arguments. 😂😂😂😂 (Two other foodie conflicts in my family are noodle vs. rice for the after-Thanksgiving turkey soup; and, lots of gravy vs. a little gravy and Yorkshire Pudding with the Christmas Prime Rib. My parents (RIP) developed a rotational system for these two issues, the WRITTEN RECORD for it meticulously kept with the decorations so no one could pull a fast one. That’s how a good marriage works things out.🤎)

I learned from tv cooking show that it’s often best to just try to leave out most of the liquid and just try to put most of what’s not liquid (cooked veg or whatever) into the blender. You then pour that back into the pot of liquid to mix them back together. I always give the soup a little heat before serving.
