Poland was a bit scary in the 90's. There were mob groups, that had a lot of influence and power. They were operating in big cities. Once a car blasted near me, as I was walking outside my apartment. Turned out that the owner of jewelery shop had some beef with the mob, and they took him down with a car bomb. Another time I was a witness of a shootout. Those were really crazy times. But in the late 90's those gropus had been busted - since then Poland is mostly peaceful, and safe.

Not known fact: On this day in 1941, the Polish government-in-exile in London sent a declaration of war to Japan. Curiously, the Japanese politely refused Poland’s offer, suggesting that the proposal was not entirely serious.

@@kensolojapato clarify, the reason was Japan considered Poland one of the most friendly countries 2ith a common interest and the war declaration was forced upon Poles by Britons. Both for Poles and Japanese Soviet remained the real enemy and both collaborated till the end of the WW2 in any anti-soviet espionage. Sadly Poland ended up being occupied by Soviets till 98 and the American occupation of Japan is like a dream compared to what the Soviets did to our country.

Well, Poland is an old country, you just don't see it every day, because of new architecture. But if you know where to look, you can find things at least several centuries old. And if you really know where to look - some things that predate Poland as a country.

Years ago, people didn't smile at each other in the street. A stranger, too kind and friendly, was suspect. There were times when you could talk freely only with your close family at home. It started to change after the 90's. Do the Japanese really think that false policemen are driving on Polish roads ?! :D As I live, I have not seen a single one! Yes, indeed, beggars are hardly visible here. In my housing estate (Warsaw, right side) there is ONE, only ONE. He has some mental problems and as far as I know he cannot help himself. I've never been to Japan - are you really seeing Yakuza members on the street? Such as in Japanese dramas? Finnaly, I don't understand why the Japanese look enviously at Europeans? Why?

About history we have a bit more than 1000 years of written history it's not young like USA or Russia but it isn't as old as Italy, China or Japan. But then we are always in world top 10 for number of wars, battles fought or wars and battles won (more than ancient Rome or China) so it might be shorter history but much more packed with events.

Quite frankly Polish and Japanese cultures are surprisingly similar hahaha Garyoza is pretty much Pierogi, lets he honest they are exactly the same, the manner of talking to strangers with honorifics and all, pretty much the same, walking barefoot at home, the same, national pathos and honor the same, even the admiration of Western European or American foreigners is the same (however weird you might find it). Poland is probably closest culture to Japan you can find in this part of the world hahaha

Polish History dates back to Sparta times so yes, it is very old. The problem is that we don't have a lot of evidence of those times because they were all destroyed when Poland became a Christian country in 966.

it depends on what date we are looking at. In 1582 it was 815,000 sq km; in 1612 it was 1,000,000 sq km. In 1920 it was "only" 389 720 sq km. South and Eastern Europe changed so many times and evolved into many other countries after all these wars. Lets say it could be better and it could be worse as well. Definitly history of Poland is great thing to study.

In my opinion Japanese people are very polite but feel like they scare of the world ! We always say take holiday Japanese way ! That means five days around the world ! In a way that shows luck of knowledge in Japanese society! Example Everyone think India is dirty and full of crime But I travel to India four times had wonderful time meeting amazing people and seen lots beautiful historical buildings and some parts are clean but some very dirty and some traditional! And I never experienced any problems related to crime!
