I worked in the indies around the same time Maven was in WWE. I spent about 6 years bumping every weekend, taking chairs to the skull, breaking tables with my spine, etc. Now I too have three bulging herniated discs, deterioration, a messed up neck.. I’m only 41.. I feel like the last three minutes of this video really spoke to me. Nobody really seems to understand the impact it has had on my life. Thank you Maven.

Maven addressing the incident from 10 years ago when he was a bouncer in NYC is very classy. I am going to assume anyone reading my message knows about the Reddit post in question, which is still up and searchable on Google. The TLDR version is that someone recognized Maven in 2013 as he was bouncing and Maven told them to take off in a mean, not-so-Maven way. We can assume Maven looked this up as well, saw it, felt bad, and made this short apology in the first half of this video. Cheering you on Maven. 🙂

Here we are all these years later and I'm hearing the tales you tell, the experiences you've shared with countless others, the highs and the lows. Your honesty and willingness to be open about everything that your career entailed is downright refreshing. The funny thing is that after Maven eliminated him, Taker took Maven out of the ring but he didn't go over the top rope... meaning that Maven was never eliminated from the Royal Rumble. Based on that the match never ended that night, as Triple H wasn't eliminated either. One of them must have gone over the top rope at some time in a subsequent match though... It is possible that Maven was in fact the real winner.

Can vouch for Maven being happy that you come up to him. We used to work on the same floor earlier this year until July and we got to speak a couple times. He was very friendly. I tend to not want to bother public figures as a NYer but when you see Maven all the time while you’re both working, you gotta say hi eventually. Was great to meet you Maven. Hope things are still going well at the place you’re working at. Be well.

I am dealing with the same exact pain and bulging/ herniated discs in the same regions of my neck and much like your experience it came out of nowhere like a, "slap in the face" and it also came in at the exact same time yours did, back in '17. Living everyday struggling to get out of bed in the morning really affects quality of life so I can sympathize with you there, brother. But knowing I have a family to provide for is what makes me push through it, and I have a very low pain tolerance. If you had a specific routine or exercise or stretch you do that alleviates some of that horrible pain I'd appreciate your advice, man. I used to watch you back in the day as a kid, I still even have your action figure somewhere in my old things.

You give insight to not only fans but people who may not be wrestling fan, you also make the information digestible. Plus your voice has this tone where you speak clearly and it’s easy to understand. Can’t wait to see where you go in the future, wishing you the best.

Maven, I grew up in England with the attitude era as my grand introduction into the world of professional wrestling; watching the likes of Austin, Rock, Mankind; hell, even Vince winning the title. Yet I remember you eliminating The Undertaker from the rumble as if were yesterday. For someone to undergo a radical transformation from rookie to being forever etched into wrestling history with one move was awesome. Here we are all these years later and I'm hearing the tales you tell, the experiences you've shared with countless others, the highs and the lows. Your honesty and willingness to be open about everything that your career entailed is downright refreshing. I'm sure a lot of us have interviews/ documentaries about in ring careers and life on the road; but your take and general outlook on the whole thing is amazing. Keep providing us with this amazing content and insight into the world of a vastly underrated performer.

Despite all of the difficulties that came from being a WWE wrestler, at least you're the first ever winner of Tough Enough. The man who eliminated Undertaker from the Royal Rumble 02, and got beat up by him, you're a former Hardcore champion, and almost won the World championship from Triple H etc. So nobody could take that away from you, you made your mark Maven !!

Just gunna throw this in here. I'm a lifelong wrestling fan and as much as it pisses me off at times I still watch most of the shows every week and listen to a fair few of the podcasts and KZread stuff that's about. But the way Maven comes across is unlike any other podcast or interview out there, most wrestlers are pretty arrogant but Maven comes across as a legit and genuine dude who not only explains things extremely well but is also very open about where he was on the card and what he achieved in his career. It's a real refreshing take and it's very easy to see why his channel has taken off so quickly. Cheers Maven for all of the entertainment and the refreshing take that you bring all of us in your uploads. Onwards and upwards!

I fully understand the pain thing. I hurt my lower back playing basketball when I was 19, of course I was young so after a few days I was fine besides a minor annoyance in the tailbone area. Then when I was 29 I got into a car accident. Then next day I went to work and felt fine, then half way through the day I was in so much pain I could hardly talk. I had x-rays and round I had a bulging disc in my back from the basketball incident, and a combination of the car wreck and my age had finally caught up with me. I got through the pain and it was managable, but then about 6 months ago (I'm 42 now) it flaired up out of nowhere. For 3 days I could sit at all, I could only lay flat on my back and it took months before I could function again. Back pain sucks :(
