Rules WWE Wrestlers CANNOT Break

Being a WWE wrestler has a lot of perks, but it also has a lot of rules. In this video, I review an article sharing 30 rules WWE wrestlers need to follow and reveal if they are real or made up.

It's a very old-school rule that was used to get non-finishes back in the territory days. the NWA always had a rule about throwing your opponent over the top rope. WCW just kept it for a while It was also a rule in AWA. But that wasn’t a rule that existed in the WWF.

The rules about not wearing blue pants in NC on Wednesday and about not being able to wear high heels in the town of Carmel come from a silly tongue-in-cheek article from WWE themselves, written on their own website, called "Five WWE rules you didn’t know existed" from 2012. At the bottom of the article it says "NOTE: The preceding rules may or may not be totally legitimate." And was written by two writers who are known for writing silly articles that aren't necessarily factual or "storyline canon". So... Men's Health didn't do a great job of actually checking their sources.

Do you have to practice speaking on the mic? How nervous were you being on tough enough vs how nervous you were preforming in front of thousands in an arena. Everyone starts watching at different times. Although I watched casually as a kid during the Hogan and Macho Man era, I didn't really get into wrestling until the late 90s because of the N64 wrestling games. I kind of dwindled off of wrestling after Eddie Guerrero died and only came in here and there to see how it was going. CM Punk peaked my interest a little around the pipe bomb but they also had the muppets and crap on the show and I was wondering what the hell happened. This new era with HHH in charge looks promising but I'm still watching clips only and not the whole shows anymore.

Stumbled across this channel in my recommended videos. Now I've been power-watching since yesterday! Maven is a really good host. Very easy to listen to and every video is both interesting and well edited. And importantly, the videos don't outstay their welcome. Some people on KZread go on and on and their videos drag. Maven is to the point, and any segues are always interesting and worth their time in the video. Superb job maven. Keep up the good work.

Hey @MavenHuffman I think the "Appearances must be approved" one is referring to a wrestler showing up at a comiccon, a singing or even another wrestling event as a guest appearance. WWE would have to approve that appearance. It's badly worded but based on the little description I am fairly sure it is that and not referring to a wrestlers physical image. Great video though as always. Anything that brings the fans a little closer to the product and understanding it I absolutely love. Keep it up.

It actually depends. Once upon a time WWF never mentioned WCW and vice versa but there were times when it couldn't be ignored like when Rick Flair brought the big gold belt to WWF or when Madusa threw the WWF women's title belt in the trash on Nitro but when the Attitude Era was in full swing all bets were off. But back in the territorial day cross promotions were commonplace. Bob Backlund wrestled both Harley Race & Rick Flair(NWA) and Nick Bockwinkle(AWA). Superstar Billy Graham wrestled Harley Race. Dusty Rhodes would wrestle in NY a lot. Also, I don't think the WWE thinks of TNA nor AEW as actual competition so there's probably that.

The "no chokeholds" thing brings to mind the feud between Kurt Angle and Tazz where Kurt accused Tazz of beating him with an illegal chokehold (the Tazzmission), but it was just a story gimmick.

Choke holds actually are NOT allowed. You have until the count of 5

@@lewisb85 Under the chin is a submission hold my dude. But if it transitions into a choke the ref gives you a 5 second count. Monsoon was great at calling out illegal punches and choke holds. Monsoon would point out “closed fists” are not technically permitted, nor are choke holds.

@@lewisb85 they are not allowed to apply "real" choke holds so that breathing isnt restricted (for example hells gate is applied in such a way so that no pressure is being applied to the throat) this is why most times commentary will use a phrase like " modified choke hold"

I think the 'appearances' thing might have been referring to things like charity shows and other events. But overall, great video. Man, if someone had told me 20 years ago I would enjoy watching Maven do something other than get his ass kicked...

Are used to watch WWE wrestling as a teenager a lot and I actually remember you Maven. I just never knew what happened to you why you disappeared in 2005. But I did enjoy watching you along with other wrestlers and thank you for making my teenage years awesome.
