If the parents allowed it, not ok. If they didn’t allow it, where was the parental supervision? That’s a lot of minors. Where are the parents for all these kids? Were they escaping, so the adults are abusive? Were the neglectful and could care less what they were doing? Your statement is just blameshifting. I’m asking a valid question. But, there are commenters who thrive on antagonism.

His parent talked to him prior to stop driving without legal permission he didn't have his mom,wasn't in school,and had just came back from begging for money I think alot was goin on in his life prior to this accident

@@hyphydan I highly doubt it. Malls weren't even open at that time. They were all related so I'd like to assume it was something innocent in nature. Still, a 16 year old with no license, not even a learner's permit, and access to a vehicle is concerning to me. Where were the parents? Were they okay with the cousins driving around at that time? Did they know he didn't have a license? I'm not going to assume the worst and I'm sure losing an entire family at once has to be a more severe punishment than the justice department can give. My prayers are with them. It's just so senseless.

16 yrs. old sounds like a "driving permit" to me and probably no parents involved in this late night drive decision.

Individuals must be 16 years old to apply and if under 18, a parent or legal guardian will have to give their consent. In preparing, applicants must read the New York Driver's Manual. parents cannot control every aspect of a kid's life. At 16, he's a high schooler. He does stupid shit without his parents knowledge

I drive the Hutch all the time at night. It is poorly lit and a very windy road. It is easy to run off the road due to poor visibility, especially on a bend in the road. Road glare from rain aggravates the situation.

Provisional licenses allow for 16 and 17 year old drivers to drive with minor children if they are family members. Also driving at night is allowed under certain circumstances with parental consent. However this kid didn't even have a license so none of that matters.

I was stealing my parents' car, late at night, at 13yrs old to go on joy rides.. luckily for me, pops had me learning to drive at 8 yrs old. He regrets that now, but I returned home. I didn't have my first accident until I had my license. 🤷‍♂️

Was an adult in the car? 16 year olds in New York State are not allowed to drive at night with out an adult in the car. That adult has to have a valid drivers license.

@@rab939 Not really. 18 years old was the legal drinking age like 50 yeas ago but the state up'd it to 21 in late 70's.. Can drive at night on your own if you passed drivers education. Can join the Army with parental consent. You are almost an adult.

Wondering what circumstances would create this situation where you have an illegal driver in a 5 passenger car with 6 occupants and kids as young as 8 out after midnight. I would have been going crazy and have the police looking for them but I don't see that mentioned anywhere.
