    Not a silly question at all, but no not for this tactic. Keep them hard and crunchy and they're more small fish proof that way!

    Had a problem with these bombs. Literally lost 2x 10g today on 2 Carp landed the carp and bomb had gone which had come off the stem that holds it I think it needs a small top rubber to hold it on better

    A simple figure-of-eight is probably number one. I sometimes use a very long twizzled loop tied with a triple overhand. You could even use a palomar knot.
