#5. That’s called dėgage. I am a dancer in college. 7 years ago, I had a stroke cause by a rare blood clot. My balance is weak. (Also, I have Broca’s Aphasia. I thank Bob and working behind the scenes. I appreciate him. I am practicing pliės, tondues, dėgages, etc to get back to normal again. Thank you all for teaching me. By the way, I have no pain doing the exercises, only soreness after a day. The soreness tells you it’s working.

Thanks for explaining gluteal amnesia and anterior femoral glide syndrome. I had hip FAI surgery last summer and have done all these exercises in PT, but never learned the mechanism for how the hip can “wear out” and how essential gluteal strength is to continue to protect the hip for life. I’m motivated. Many thanks!
This will be helpful for my hips. I don't waddle walk, but I have hip issues. Thank you! ❤️
I'm glad you corrected the mechanics of locking the supporting knee while on the stair, pelvic tilt. That means so much.
I can't get tired to thank you ❤❤❤BRAD and MIKE🙏🙏

Thanks for all the options! Great demonstrations, Mike!
Excellent teaching ! Thanks!
Perfect video for me. I have to both stretch AND strengthen my hip IT band from Post surgical bursitis from walking w crutches, scooter, air cast etc. Thank you Mike as well, so I can combine BOTH of your videos. It DOES all work together!

Much needed exercises. Thank you both.
Thank you Brad. Boy I miss Bob on here!
I am so glad I saw your video. Earlier this year I went to a physical therapist to help with exercises and I didn't really do them because I can't get on the floor and my bed is too lumpy and soft. So I appreciate your exercises that will help me strengthen those muscles without being on the floor because it is difficult to get up from that position. I'll check out other videos you have but I can start now with these! God always has a remedy! Thanks guys😊😊😅

If you can, I suggest considering pool exercises and get a yoga mat and if you can, a vibration plate (i’m very happy with my Lifepro Rumblex 4D). I did pool exercises every on alternate days for 1,5 hour and floor exercises on other days + 30 minutes of varied vibration. Problems solved in 5-6 months.
Great video, and thanks for your time.
Thank you
Nice one guys. I've been suffering with sharp hip pain for a week or so and can sense the onset of the "waddle walk" you mention as a way to decrease the pain. I've just followed along and done two sets of each with you and walking back and forth down the corridor there is a HUGE difference. The butt muscles definitely kick in and support the hip. So much better. "STRONG LIKE BULL!"
Thank you guys, your advice is gratefully received ❤
Thank you for this information and 🙏 for Bob. ❤

Thanks Brad and Mike ! I already do 3 of these exercises. Now I'll try the 2 other ones. I have arthritis on my hips, moderate to severe on my left side and light to moderate on the right. I really hope I won't need hip replacement in my old age.

Thanks fellas, I really need these!👍🏾👍🏾 Long-term herniated L4/5 & the retired life
I appreciate you guys so much, though I don't often comment. AT 59, Ive been advised for "bone on bone" and severe arthritis (right hip) to have hip replaced. As a former fitness professional (and competitive lifter) who has been sitting at a desk too many hours, too many years most recently my gluteals certainly have experienced amnesia. The waddle has been my walk for the past year- meanwhile my left ankle seems to be getting the worst of it...less so the knee, but it's begun to also alert me I need to address this - I was told the window for exercise as remedy has passed - I am familiar with all of these exercises and so appreciate the service you (Bob, Brad, and Mike now) are providing). I am taking the next 3 weeks to be vigilant (just finished a round of in real life PT too so the timing is perfect) with these moves. My last ditch effort. I used to believe I could fix everything with exercise...that was a lifetime ago. Now I just want to be mobile again...I've limited so much of what I used to do (walking in mornings etc) . I will let you know how it goes...On a side note my hubby bought your anchors for the wall in our home gym awhile back - I have no excuse (just I read and write for both work and pleasure- from one desk to another it seems). Is it unrealistic to think I can avoid surgery ? Can you direct me to any of your videos where you discuss things to ask and consider with regard to hip surgery that might help me have a better experience from a PT's perspective? Thank you in advance - keep up the great service you are doing by providing excellent information and help for many! Enthusiastically, Dawn
Invaluable information. In grateful appreciation Liliane

I’m so glad you have made these 2 videos. I have just been told by my Doctor, after an xray, that I have ‘wear and tear’ in my hip joint. I usually do a walk every day for about 1 hour which is uncomfortable to start but eases off after a while. I have one question. Should I continue this? I am in the UK and there is a 3 month wait to see a physiotherapist so your video is great for me. Thank you so much.

These are great exercises and great explanation of the hip joint rolling forward due to weak glute muscles. I've never heard that and I watch lots of these videos. I can do these exercises. In another video, though, I wonder if you could present some moves to increase rotational mobility in the hips - I cannot cross my legs at the knees anymore nor can I even make the 'figure 4' leg crossover to do even the most basic hip rotation stretches (for piriformis, etc). Seems like a lot of the good stretches start in this figure 4 position. thanks

@@BobandBrad Just wanted to let you know I ordered the book you suggested about Shoulder Pain? By JOHN M. Kirsch, MD. It came in today. Looking forward to reading it.
I appreciate what you're both saying, also however, people with severe TMJ problems, because they usually end up with a forward head posture, it affects the neck, spine, has thrown out the hips, pelvis, knees, and even the feet because of the way you stand. Afterall, that bone is connected to the other bone, and so forth. People with jaw disc displacement whom end up with osteoarthritis in the jaw joints, it's especially common for the body to be affected.

I have tendonitis (gluteus medius). I had pain for months, I had to rest and slowly recovered. Swimming in warm water helped. I was painfree for a few weeks, and then the debilitating pain started again, probably because I overdid the exercising because I was feeling good... My question is, how do you know when to stop? How many days /reps do you do the exercises? How do you find the 'goldilocks' zone?
Hi Bob and Brad I had my left hop replace 2 years ago Sug 16? 2021 in the hopes that the discomfort in my knee would subside like it did for my right knee. I had a TLKR on June 13, 2023 this the most excruciating pain I have encountered I don't understand which I am in so much pain from my hip, groin, knee, calf and ankle. I go to PT 2x's a wk do all my exercises everyday. I go to the senior center on off days from PT to use the bike. I am still unable to do stairs. I am at my wits end I don't know why the leg is not getting stronger. I am trying to purge off of the cane but my leg buckles Can you give me anything else that I can do. I also went to PRE-PT before surgery. Thank you both in advance. Lydia
I had a toxic metal implant put in me that almost killed me. Itt took 4 years of me going to different doctors to get a diagnosis. I had the toxic implant taken out but I am very weak I cant do much at al. I used to be a dancer with the NYC ballet and surfer and martial artist and now I cant walk. My hips hurt alot so I want to do these exercises

Hi Brad - I LOVE your show - I have a question - isn't the 3rd exercise (to strengthen the Medius muscle) the same as the last exercises (standing and lifting the leg forward, side ways and back) I have a knee problem and so I like to do my exercises sitting or lying down
@BobandBrad

They are a bit different
Hi Brad and Bob, I did all your exercises, about 10 each to not over extend myself. Tonight, both my feet fall asleep whenever i sit down. It goes away when I stand. What are your thoughts on that?
Are any of these best to be avoided when trying not to engage quads to avoid pain or worsening of knee osteoarthritis. Focusing on increasing glut strength is said to be good for knees.
