I love water sprite in a tank either planted or floating. I used to give excess back to my pet store, it also makes good compost for your home garden because it sucks up nitrates.

My plants are as important to me as my fish, maybe more so. I agree with you on your 10 "easy" plants, except I have never figured out why I could not grow any Sag 40 years ago. Due to constant moves, I left the hobby. I come back and I've got dwarf sag trying to climb out of my tanks looking for more water (almost). The rest of your 10 "easy" plants, I totally agree.

They also are great plants for experts trying to fill out large tanks that might have fish that are nibblers. So many of the new small scale plants will be eaten by minnows-Angelfish. Just picked to death. The ones you list are great tough leafed plants. Maybe add Italian Val to the list.

Water Sprite and Water Wysteria, though they look similar, are different plants. Water Sprite is a true fern, producing new plants on the end of old leaves, like Java Fern. Water Wisteria doesn't product new plants on the leaves. I haven't seen true Water Sprite in 25 years around here anywhere but I have lots of wisteria in my tanks! Thanks for your informative videos!

after I disassembled my tank I left the aquarium substrate in a bucket with some water outside and I saw the anubias grow out of the water and flowered with a single stalk and small white flowers on the bulb on the tip, I guess its a semi aquatic plant suited for ponds which will look cool during flowering.

Fellow mass guy here just set up the aqueon 29 gallon tank kit and i had a couple questions for you if you could maybe help me out, I just set the tank up today and added some chlorine remover and threw a little food in and an alge wafer in there to start the nitrogen cycle, question one is will the wafer help with this at all? I also plan yo have live plants in the tank, how long should i wait before adding the plants into the tank? And do the live plants help with the nitrogen cycle at all? Thank you for the videos!!

I know the anubias, the java fern and the java moss are good choice, but is their others that i could succesfully try?

Hello, I love your KZread channel and thought that you may be able to answer this question I have, and haven't been able to figure out. So I have a 55 gallon tank with a Coralife T5 HO quad fixture, with a Co2 system! I bought a few bunches on Rotala Rotundifolia at my LFS about a year ago and it has grown quite large and spread. But it has turned from a beautiful Reddish Orange, to totally green. I've been dosing 5ml of Iron once a week, but that hasn't really been helping, so just wasn't sure what you would do to fix that problem!! I would really appreciate the help. -Matthew Dyer

2nd, Got some new jungle val about 2 months ago. I run a low tech 75 and usually do pretty well with plants and val in general. My issue is the value I have now is propagating like crazy but I'm not seeing much vertical growth. I'm thinking lighting might be my issue, I have twin flora suns in there right now but that's only 64 total watts. Any ideas?

  • @brendanbrieaddy9877

Actually I'll just ask point blank, what type of light hood would you recommend for a low tech 75? I basically only have ever kept your 10 easy plants so I don't need any "high light" set up or anything fancy. I'm trying not to break the bank either, (famous last words). I saw the review on the ST International 48 in quad t5 setup, that looks cool but I'm scared of what the price tag was...

Fish are settled, even had fry appear, (which i'm taking to be a good sign??) momentarily,i say momentarily as the other Platys ate them!
