Great! Ty! Asking friends to harvest their ponds and lakes! I thought I could but wasn’t sure thanks for mentioning that. I’ll do more research to make sure I harvest quarantine and transfer/ransplant correctly.
That's some nice looking plant's you have there I'm working on getting what I have going in a 75 gal aquarium so when they get big enough I can transfer the cuttings from them to a 110 gal stock tank to start growing in it to sell.
Great video and very informative.

We used to call Hornwort "Foxtail" decades ago. I now have some small Salvinia plants, some Elodea sprigs, along with a bunch of hornwort, some Bacopa caroliniana stems, and an Amazon sword. The latter two are planted in beakers with some black plant substrate. My local store is going to get some more plants around the first of the year, as there are a couple more I want to get. Not to mention some fishes. Take care.

So much information nad so clearly given. Thanks
Thank you so much for this list! At least I know which ones to buy now as I prefer everything modular inside the aquarium so I can clean it easily. I already have some of the plants in your list but I plan to add more. Greetings from the Philippines 🇵🇭...

Top tier content.
Thanks for the video. I'm raising Ghost/glass/grass (different names, same species) Shrimp and thinking about Guppy Grass for them. I am hoping "guppy grass" is my solution for water snails and glass shrimp in a glass bottom aquarium. I also have wild caught Ramshorn Snails, Bladder Snails, Copepods, Detritus Worms, and some store-cultivated Duckweed + Water Sprite (I think is what it is). Apparently the shrimp and/or snails MIGHT nibble on guppy grass, which would be great, but the purpose is to provide some place for the shrimp to feel comfortable releasing the babies. I know it isn't the best thing for that purpose, but I want something free and edible, if possible and something that will grow on the bottom. Also, I want some "padding" of some kind at the bottom, so that I can put the big Ramshorn snails in a glass aquarium. All snails species I've raised (land and water) seem to intentionally climb up things, then fall down and just hope for the best. Unfortunately, this means land snails can't have rocks or glass or other hard things to fall on, because they can break their shell and die. I also do not want to have gravel or sand or anything else on the bottom, so that I can siphon clean the bottom without it being a huge chore. I currently use plastic containers, and the plastic works great, but the size and shape of my containers give me other difficulties. I tried asking on a discord server and got ignored. If you have a personal suggestion(s), let me know. I'm really going for the least effort, most prolific, most invasive type stuff, that tolerates the worst conditions. I admire species that are super prolific like this, as long as they aren't things like fire ants, mosquitos, etc. I suppose if it is one i would have to buy, maybe I can reach out to people and see if I can get a piece for free. I may also go see what I can get with a net from the local ponds. I really want to keep as many plants and animals as I can, from the wild (either native or established invasive), rather than non-native species. I would rather have everything be wild, but wild aquatic creatures are the primary focus and I would be okay with some non-wild plants, if they really fit the need.
Very informative video. Although, something i didn't hear you mention was lighting. What type of lighting do these plant require and thrive in? Im looking to start my low maintenance planted tank. Thank you

The tiger lotus is a heavy root feeder as most lilies are, it will at first grow some leaves from the bulb but it will also send roots into the substrate which will eventually be used as the main source of feeding and if the substrate is not rich enough the plant will never do well, it will most probably die.
@Aquafinity

Very true, thanks for sharing! I've also found that liquid fertilizer makes them grow faster, probably because of the minerals they add to the water column.

Yea goldfish will eat plant's more than the food so I don't put any plant's in their stock tank unless I can make a way to divide the tank for them, I've tried that & that didn't even work so that's out.

My tiger lotus is hard to keep from floating. How do you hold it down without substrate?
@Aquafinity
Жыл бұрын
You could try using rocks or other plants to anchor them, and after a while their roots would grow over the thing they’re attached to.
are these plants okay to be together in a tank and are they safe for turtles?
@Aquafinity
5 күн бұрын
they could all be kept together fine but I wouldn’t trust turtles. turtles could eat any aquarium plant as long as theyre hungry enough.

Get a master water test kit, it comes with instructions on how to test for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, etc. there’s a lot of good videos on KZread that’ll give you all the information you need. When I was new to the hobby it took one single video explaining the nitrogen cycle for me to finally understand and get my first tank going. Educate yourself, and your fish will thrive.
