Simms is slow to catch on, like some others- Brock is a lock at the second ranked qb in the nfl and he might challenge for the top spot in time. These naysayers just don’t know how to evaluate Purdy’s skill set, that’s on them.

@Paul-tp9yh He is not a lock as the 2nd best QB in the league, he had maybe the best statistical year of any QB but that doesn't make him the best QB, Brees had some insane years but I don't think anyone ever ranked him over Manning or Brady...To be top tier you need to do it consistently, it's why having Stroud and Love so high is just dumb, they did well but it was their first year starting...having Dak that high is a fucking joke, the choke artist is a top QB? Trevor Lawrence has played half a season of decent football and he is ranked above Purdy gtfo.... this list is a troll meant to generate clicks

@Paul-tp9yh Don't get me wrong I Love Purdy. I think he is the truth, unlike Kaep, who flamed out after a couple of good seasons, Purdys skill set translates much better to longterm success I just think it's too early to say he is a top 5 QB, is he playing like a top 5 QB, he sure was last year but to be top 5 you gotta do it for a few years in a row not just 1.5.

He didn’t outplay Josh Allen. That’s just a lie. Josh had 3 TD no picks, 76 rushing yards and scored more points in regulation with a worse team and worse coaches than Brock had. This is what gets me with fellow 49er fans, Brock is awesome but we got people pretending he’s better than Josh Allen and is a top 5 elite QB. Simms is over stating the amount of wide open throws Purdy is making. I've seen a bunch of times where the play breaks down and Purdy extends the play with his legs and makes an off base throw to create for his team. Kyle Shanahan is great but he isn't the greatest coach to ever call a game where he's just scheming up guys wide open every single play.

He earned the right to be called top 5, there's no evidence to the contrary except your feelings. He's MVP caliber and noone can take that away from him until he does something different than being top 3 in all the relevant QB stats on the field cause he's been nothing but top 5 since he first walked on the field. I think you have to look at Purdy as a sum of his parts. His only real “weakness” is not having a killer arm but he’s good to very good at almost every other trait. He just has no other real weakness. Smart. Accurate. Throws on time. Throws on target. Even keeled. Etc. etc. But if you look at his numbers it pretty much proves he’s really good. High-60s completion percentage. Three on a TD-2-INT ratio. Over 100 on his passer rating. Crazy win-loss percentage. One Super Bowl appearance and maybe would’ve been two outside a freak injury. I just think he’s highly underrated and I usually root for strong-armed quick-release guys too.

You mean the guys who's made a Conference Championship as a rookie and then lost a SuperBowl in OT and he's not even 25 yet shouldn't be revered by that team's fanbase. Simms is just mad because he is Kyle Shanahan's buddy and everyone with sense and objectivity who watched the playoffs and SB58 came out with the same opinion. Purdy is clearly special and Shanahan's bad coaching is what's holding SF back. Shanahan doesn't deserve the genius reputation he gets.He has a good scheme but he's.yet to prove he can avoid fucking up big games.

Purdy, in one and a quarter seasons, has a regular season record of 18 - 4 and a playoff record of 4 - 1 in games he started and finished. Purdy's passer rating for those five games is 111.4. Below are six QBs that Simms ranked higher than Purdy. Their playoff records and stats, in games they started and finished, have a combined record of 6 - 11, and the six QBs have an average passer rating of 77.6. Additionally, their average number of years in the league is 5 and a half. The stat that matters most for a QB is wins in the playoffs. Not only does Purdy stack those wins, but he also plays at a level in the playoffs that none of the below even come close to. But lets be real, if you were building a team and can take any QB, there are at least 10-15 QBs you'd take above Purdy. There's nothing wrong with that. He still deserves a big payday and he can still win a Superbowl.

This is Sims trolling. His ranking, coming out with 17th. If you notice what he is saying is all unprovable so he can say it with no recourse. I like the packers but to think that Love could run Shanahan’s offense is a joke. He couldn’t run the Packers offense for the first half of the year. Love is good, he might even put up similar numbers as Purdy if he was in SF. Sims misses the point. Purdy outshined Love in every aspect of the game except probably rushing yards. He did so coming off of surgery with no offseason and Kyle limiting the playbook in the first 5 games. Chris wants viewers and this is how he gets it. There is no reasonable reason why anybody doesn’t have Purdy in the top 10 until he is not worthy of it. Every team has the same budget and most spend a huge chunk on the QB. The Niners didn’t and boy did they get lucky!

You want to talk about a game manger for the 9ers? That's Jimmy G. Dude didn't have a long ball and could not throw it outside the hashes. Purdy gets all the blame and none of the credit.
