    Love to see DD converted vehicles of Any size & shape, especially "classics"..... but, that is a good way to take out the rear end. What is the "box" off of... or, did you fab it yourself ? Nice build!

    2Stroke Diesel Power Thanks. Not too worried, she's built FORD TOUGH('06 chassis), with Chevy stuff, LOL. Lucky for me we have our own fab shop and the box was created with a tow body in mind.

  • @Romans--bo7br

    @Romans--bo7br

    procharged496 Thanks for the reply. I thought the box had the "tow body" look to it.... was that the intended purpose, or... is it, still ?? What are you running for a "box" (trans.) behind the 53 ? What's the rear end ratio ? What have you got the gov. set for (loaded rpms) ? Have, or... are you, going to paint it ? If so, any idea of color(s) ?? Would REALLY enjoy to hear a reply on these questions from you.... whenever your able to. Thanks. "Free-wheeling" (tire spin) the rear, is still the hardest on them, regardless of who's "name" is on the tag...... but, I certainly understand the "fun" part, also. : ) I have a fair size shop (40X70) and in it, I have an '80' Chevy 1T Dually / Crew cab with no engine and trans, but it has a Great, straight & rust free body & frame.... also have a 1994 vintage (last year of production for the 12V's) 12V71TT DD(factory rated "stock" at 655 HP & 1910 ft lbs of pure muscle........ and I'm thinking......... if I turned the engine compartment into "trunk" space, and stretched the frame approximately 6 ft at "mid-ship", "box" the frame rails for extra stength, and........ Hmmmmmm.... could be fun - not to mention the Only one like it !! I'm thinking on it...... but my wife is questioning "the sanity of it" and justifying the cost....... when we "could be putting the money into something like a nice motorhome, instead......" Women !! lol : ) You would think that after 45 yrs of trucking, 21 yrs of drag racing (included during the 45 yrs) and a few hot rods and muscle cars here & there...... she'd have the picture by now(and she enjoys all of that).... actually, she just thinks that 65 yrs "young" is too "late" to start another project like this...... but, to me..... it would be saving "the best for last" type of thing..... and something I've always wanted to build. We'll see what happens.... Take Care, and look forward to a reply on the questions at the top, when you can. Thanks again.

    2Stroke Diesel Power Yes, the box was made because I always liked that look, it would be nice to have a boom, but then again I like it how it is now. Also just shortened bed of truck and added a unique push bar, I'll have to get a walk around vid of it. Only a few things left to do, never ending it seems. The trans is a 5 speed Clark, 410's I believe, tops out at around 75, which is fine, but would like more range for in town driving so I may change the ratio, or to find a 2-3 speed auxiliary trans. would be nice.If anything I will rust the box more to match the cab, no paint in it's future! It's nice to take around and not worry about idiots touching it or letting their kids use as a playground. Procharged 496 is the engine I have in my '68 chevelle, Check my other vids for the dyno run of engine!Your 12v project would be awesome to say the least! Would give a lot of people neck problems and maybe injury's from walking into signs and poles looking for what kind of hell was coming for them. The looks you get are worth what you put into them, but it is expensive, I have 16+ into my diamond t right now and engine is still not in it. I have a 471and a 6 speed Eaton that will be a tight fit, but what the hell!Never too old to have fun, I'm 35 but want to do all I can while I still can. Till next time!

    procharged496 Thanks Again for your reply !!....... haha.. seems like we're both into "burning both ends of the candle".... at this hour. When I was your age, I would be in my shop working on my rail (dragster) at this hour... if I wasn't on the road, trucking...... which is the reason I got into trucking.... to finance my drag racing ! : ) Ahhhhh.... I figured the "496" for Chevy power..... (I through in the "or, whatever brand" just to cover the bases, because one never knows what's "out there" these days)....... anyway, and procharged in a 68 Chevelle... VERY Nice !! Will have to have a look, see & drool... of your other videos. What kind of boost are you putting into your big block ? Will go watch your dyno video(s). SO !...... YOU, have Diamond T !???!?!.... and a 4-71(T?).... THAT is Probably what I should Really do for a project... I "LOVE" Diamond T's.....have "drooled" over many that I've seen "done" and have thought of, and drawn out many plans for a "build" and Always with either a 4-71T or, a 6V53..... but, realistically... the inline makes more sense... although the weight is fairly close.... and 3,500 rpms is Very doable for either.... though, the 6V53's have the Best "performance to weight & cubic inch" ratio of Any of the DD's..... 800++hp is Very attainable with the 6V53. Do a search on YT for the "Lady Butterfly Pull truck"...... it belongs to an "ole" O/O (Owner Operator) friend of mine, going back to the early-mid 70's..... we had near identical 1974 Extended hood KW's with 12V71T's... and both of ours were "built" and both putting between 8 & 900hp to the ground... his had a Spicer 5x4.... mine had a Spicer dbl Over(drive) 6X4, 3:90 rears and 2,850 (loaded) rpms. Anyway.... look for the "Lady Butterfly"..... I did the tuning on it, and some of the maintenance... It's not pulling anymore... because of Johns health and back issues, and also, with the stupid NTPA's ridiculous class set up...(as in, Everybody in "Pro-Semis" pulls the same weight, regardless of 2 or 4 cycle, or displacement.. it's Ridiculous!!) and with all the "Big Inch" cummins QSX's and E9 Mack V8's.... it's hard to compete against 980 - 1150 ci engines that are putting out 4000+ hp and upwards of 5,000 ft lbs of torque... with 852ci of 2 cycle with only 5" of stroke length (total... 3.8" Usable) and 4.25" of bore. We could kill them on the "soft" tracks (non points).... such as at county fairs, and some "invitationals".... because we could apply the power and rpms without "overpowering the track".... but, on the NTPA & ECPA points "hard tracks" (watered & packed, clay / dirt mix) they could overpower us with lugging ability of their longer stroke engines... and sheer power. I/we, managed to get about 2,500 hp out the 12V71 turning it at 4,200 r's, a really "trick" (re: home grown)secondary fuel system and some Really "BIG" injectors (re: fuel faucets :) and approximately 3 - 3,300 ft lbs of torque and the trusty Allison HD750 behind it..... -vs- "sticks" behind the 4 strokes. If nothing else... she sounded really sweet.... especially once over 2,500 and up ! How did I get on This, rabbit trail ?? Hmmmmmm... now you've got me rethinking my "wish list" to do" projects.... perhaps, sell the 12V..... and I know where there is a 1938 "T" in pretty nice shape, body wise.... or, there's a good chance I can "swap" my 12V for several "smaller" Detroits !....... now I'm getting excited about THAT possibility !!...... I better sleep on that..... and talk to my wife about it in the mornin..... a definite possibility, there...... and "She" likes old classic cars & trucks better than the "newer" stuff, anyway !! : ) Dang !!.... it's 1:40am (Mtn).... better catch some shut eye !....... and yes !.... do what your able to Now, while your able to..... believe me, my friend.... once you reach your 30's, it "seems" like time just "rockets" from there... On, and the next thing you know.... your in your 60's... like me...... then, you all of a sudden realize.... that life isn't so "long" afterall...... and your priorities and what's Really important to you.... can drastically change, Very quickly... especially if your health starts going "south" fairly early......... fortunately, for my wife & myself... we've been blessed with good health..... not like some of our friends, already.... it's really sad..... how fast and how much of "life" can go by, sometimes..... before we realize it. Take good care..... enjoy those who are the closest and mean the most to you... to the fullest, while you can, and you & they... are not only able to... but while they & you.. can appreciate it and eachother the most..... we're all "only young... Once". As you say..... "Til next time"

    never shut down an engine after running it hard like that untill you idle it 3 minutes min. to allow it to cool down. Also never spin your rear like that as it will become so hot to cause damage because the spider gears are spining at a horrific rate to make one whel spin. and the sudden grab of bare pavement can snap a u joint
