45 RPM: Johnny Moore - You're My Queen

You're My Queen
written by Luther Dixon
performed by Johnny Moore
promo only issued as Sue 726, circa March 1960
Here is one of the joys of record collecting.
In 1959, Johnny Moore, lead of the Drifters from mid 1955 to late 1957, was been discharged from the army. He tried a solo career but, since The Three Blazers' Johnny Moore was still known, he felt he couldn't use his real name. Darrow was taken from Clarence Darrow, a lawyer Moore saw featured in Ebony magazine. That is how Moore told it, anyway.
However, here is a promo for his first release on Juggy Murray's Sue label under the name Johnny Moore, "Why Do You Treat Me This Way" backed with "You're My Queen." For some reason, "Queen" was replaced with different Lloyd Price - Harold Logan published tune, "Hand In Hand," and Moore became Darrow. To my knowledge, "You're My Queen" was otherwise unreleased and is only found on the first promo.

I keep checking to see if you’ve added anything! It has been a long long wait. Thanks again.
