Went for the $45 Amazon option and the pump is well built, easy to assemble and doesn't leak. Being 79 years old, this process is a little hard on my body and I had to give up with my tank on my Gamo Arrow only half filled. However, I found an electric dual voltage pump that pumps up to 4500 PSI on Amazon that was under $200, including taxes and shipping (Free). So I'll save my manual pump for a backup or when I want to see if I can use it to give myself a hernia....

Ther is no justification for this high price levels for pcp hand pumps, they are only tubes, rods, o-rings and cheap Gauges nothing much more and the production cost broberly 10£ or so and the rest costs for the overpriced company name.

Great video and thanks for your efforts. I am 75 yrs old and for something to do, I just bought a Umarex C02 to plink with. I love to squirrel hunt so I have been entertaining a mid-range break barrel. While researching guns I became aware of PCP's. I have never heard of them. That being said, I really like the idea of the PCP with a mag-type gun. My concern was the inconvenience o filling the gun. I certainly prefer not to invest in a compressor but was calculating a small tank to take to the local dive shop. I have seen the hand pumps and figured they would likely kill me. Watching you actually use one, I think I can handle it. So, your video has convinced me to go ahead and pull the trigger on an entry-level PCP I can squirrel hunt with. Thank You. I subbed BTW.

Mine arrived today.....blown away with the quality and performance. I bought another after first use. I have three BSA Ultras, a compressor, 7 litre bottle and now two pumps. My two eldest grandsons borrow a rifle each when they visit. It now means they can take a pump each and go their own way. They are light and with the folding feet, compact to slip into a back pack. Look after them and I see a lifetime of service. Serving and repair however doesn't daunt me as a I was a Siebe Gorman BA and compressor technician and instructor before I retired. I do recommend a decent oil/water trap. You can buy and inline QR one for less than £20 anywhere.

Appreciate. I’m going to get it as a backup- for that price, why not? I “ think” I stumbled into a pumping trick. Instead of doing a full travel pump motion every time, I will do maybe 3 quick, partial pumps from between about 3-8 inches( can feel pressure build up some), followed by a full travel pump. It seems to decrease the amount of full travel pumps by enough to make it worth it “ to me”. 🤷‍♂️😁 Cheers

Yea. I paid totally €46 for my chinese handpump that I ordered from aliexpress for the use to fill my Sig Sauer Virtus 13ci PCP. Has worked well for me. Spare o-rings etc even came along. I did though put the pump onto an electrical pumping machine that I built. But itbhas served me well. I do clean and lube the lower external tube of the pump quite regularly - and sometimes I strip it apart to clean the check valve at the bottom, but I considerbit as plain maintenance to keep the pump going for a long time.. But overall I do personally think that a cheap handpump works basically as well as most more expensive handpumps (which are the same in build-class). I once did find online a Diana handpump to be identical to my pump - but the price was €199(national postages still excluded) instead of €46 (free intl shipping included)..

That is one reason why the Airforce airguns and the Benjamin marauder are on my favorite list. On the Airforce the tank and gauge are the rear end of the rifles and on the Benjamin marauder the gauge is on the bottom between the trigger and foregrip. This keeps you alot safer than the having the gauge on the business end. For the people with the gauge on the dangerous end always remove the magazine and fire a shot into the dirt to make sure 100% that the barrel is clear. Airguns are potentially deadly especially in the event of an accidental discharge like a hard knock or drop. Be careful people.

You can probably just size the orings and pick them up at a local hardware store after that. Or simply buy a new hand pump since they are so cheap. A better idea is to grab a compressor since they are also very cheap nowadays and use the hand pump as a backup. I have multiple compressor reviews on the channel. • @airshootist

Waiting is not necessary but you definitely want to make sure you go all the way up and all the way down for the most efficient stroke. And don't pump it like crazy in the summer without giving it a break, these can get a bit hot and perhaps melt a seal if you really beat on them. They are best suited for guns under 150cc, even though I got away with using them to pump a 490cc Airforce tank for over 15 years 🤣 I have rebuilt the FX and the Airforce pump more times than I can remember from all the use and they still are going strong

Save some money and build a autopump: kzread.info/dash/bejne/mJp2q6ZmlNueddY.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/fqtm3MaQltS8j8Y.html I was considering to buy a PCP, but didn't know the amount how much you need to pump to get a 200-300 bars filled. That simply killed the whole idea that you can have some relaxing shooting time, as if one needs to pump 200-400 times to get to rifle going, it is not worth it, unless you are really a hunting with it and need just a few shots per day. The idea of compressor just was not worth the cost, as you pay same as for the gun. And then you need to wait 20-40 minutes to get those filled. Building a own electric pump requires 1-2 pumps and you are quickly now in the cheap air compressor price range, but you should get it still faster filled. But you don't have the space saving with it, and likely not able to run it from a 12V battery if needed. So then comes the small scuba tanks, again costly and requiring to go filling elsewhere for price. But giving 2-120 fills, they can be good option for off-grid people, again for hunting purposes as you don't shoot so much. So if wanted to do some hunting, then use the pump. It will serve better than nothing else. If wanted to do competition shooting, then it is the air compressor. And for fun shooting where you put hundreds/thousands of pellets on weekend, then it is time to get the air tank.

I wanted to see what these pumps were like because I have an experiment that calls for ~200bar and yeah ill just buy the electric one but I wanted to say something about your proposed testing methods. Number of strokes really wouldn't be an effective means of testing unless you have limiters of top and bottom stroke hitting each one everytime. Even if you did if the capacity of the pumps cylinders srte not the number of strokes is irrelevant. Last each pump is 100% efficient unless it is leaking or diverting high pressure air you made to power something. What would be good (although subjective) areas to compare is comforrt, ease of use, durability, ect. Theoretically, you could put on a respiration mask to count how much oxygen you convert into co2 while pumping and compare the bmr (bascal metabolic rate) to compare how many calories required to reach a set pressure but thats kind of over kill. Fair timed event is more practical but less precise. Thank you for uploading this even though I'm not using a manual pump you probably saved me 50-80 usd finding out its way too much effort for my needs.

Depends on the guns reservoir size. The BSA Ultra standard reservoir only takes 50 pumps from 100 bar to 220 bar but I top up after 30 shots on a hunt and that's only 30 pumps. One stroke per shot. I use my bottle at the range but wandering around woodlands the pump in my backpack is the lightweight option. Also my grandchildren borrow my rifles now and again and I might not get them back for weeks lending them a pump each is better for me as I have a mini compressor (brilliant at £134 delivered TWO years ago and still going strong) and 7 litre bottle. They aren't borrowing them, they are young enough and fit enough to use the pumps....I bought two! 😃

No way am I carting my 7 litre or even a 3 litre bottle around through rough woodland with the pump weighing so little. I get 40 shots out each of my Ultras and then top up. 45 strokes of the pump does the job. I use my compressor and bottles for use with the 4 buddy bottle PCP's I have.
