440. Oh The Drama! Big Bloom Blowout Turned Into Mixed Media Art! /fluid art

Hi all! Until I get my lighting situation sorted in my studio, the next couple of videos are filmed in my doggie pool on the floor in the corner to prevent glare so you can actually see what I'm doing LOL. This is the second video on a 20x20 Level 2 gallery wrapped canvas. I was pretty happy with the end results, but because I did 8 (!!!) paintings in this color palette, I decided to modify it by adding some dot work along the edges and the middle. I love the look on the edges; not too sure about the middle but it gave me a lot of ideas on how to do this on other types of pours--especially a dutch pour, so be on the lookout for a video on that too! I'm using a new to me pouring medium recipe too and omitting varnish altogether--check out the recipe below! Colors/Brands/Pouring Medium:
House Paint-base aka puddle for the substrate:
PPG Multi-Pro in Eggshell.
Pouring Medium aka PM Recipe: mix with all colors EXCEPT the cell activator:
Behr 8300 Untinted Deep Base Paint (Home Depot); and Valspar Ultra Base C Untinted base. 50/50. Mix well. NO varnish added!
Brands/Colors mixed:
Golden Fluid Acrylics in Iridescent Bright Gold, and Quinacridone Nickel Azo Gold. This Little Piggy pigments in Waterfall and Lagoon; Da Vinci Fluid Acrylics in Indigo.
Golden, Atelier, and Da Vinci Fluid Acrylics: I put about 2-2 1/2 ounces of the pouring medium into a 3 ounce cup, then squirt in color until I reach my desired shade. Mix well.
For tube paint, I added an ounce of paint (heaping tablespoon) to a 3 ounce cup, then added 2 ounces of pouring medium. If still thick then I'll add a teaspoon of varnish/water to thin. (I make a bottle of "Jo-Wa" by adding 1/3 JoSonja Gloss Varnish and the rest water, and keep it in a squeeze bottle and use as my "water.")
All pigments are 1/8th tsp. pre-disbursed with a small amount of JoSonja Varnish to wet it (stir really well), then add into a 3 oz. cup of Pouring Medium; stir well.
Cell Activator Color:
Australian Floetrol + Amsterdam Lamp Black and Amsterdam Grayish Blue. Approximately 3:1 ratio Floetrol to paint.

Hi Karen Install a dimmer switch, and they have overhead filters for recessed lighting. There are also non-glare bulbs. My son is a contractor, and uses them for some of us clients.

Like the first one you did! LOVE the second one! Without the dots, it was just gorgeous and I could see them both as a set. With the dots, breaks the set but sure does look fine! Can't decide if I love it better before or after the dots, but I do love watching artists grow and stretch themselves with their art! That's what I enjoy most about this video! And love hearing your commentary so you just keep being you, Karen! I still love the piece I got from you! It's in my office where I can see and enjoy it every day!

I been watching your videos nonstop for about 6 months now. Artists are perfectionists and our own worst critic as you point out the areas you feel are imperfections in some little cells here and there...I only hope that someday I can achieve paintings as beautiful as you Karen!
