    Hey north, plus here. Crisscross apple sauce spoons in the bowl must be just an American thing. We tell it to little kids who cant sit still and keep their hands in to them selves (sit with your legs crossed (bowl) and keep your hands (spoons) in your lap. I’ve lived in four states and have heard it said in each state lol Edit: I also just want to say that your little side tangents are the best part of hobby nightmares so don’t listen to the others lol

    I have a trio of Warmahordes cyborg things with Not-Powerfists that I'm using for Techmarine Servitors. I've also got some G.I. Joe quad-mortars (forget the name) that I'm going to rivet up and use as Wyverns, to say nothing of my Orksprey-pattern Chinork that I made from a Not-Lego Osprey and plasticard (which will never see a tabletop thanks to Chinorks getting killed). My FLGS group has zero problem with this, and anybody outside of a Games Workshop shouldn't either.

    That bit about asking directions reminds me of the first time i was going to Warhammer World. I wanted to make sure i was getting the right tram from the train station. Asked an old man there if it was the right direction for Lenton Lane, and how many stops. He told me "you need to get off by where Ritchies Telly Shop used to be. Where it 'used' to be. The most useless directions i've ever been given in my life.

    There's a place in my town where if I'm ever giving directions I tell people it's "near to Charlie Brown's". Charlie Brown's was a car garage which closed in the 70s, long before I was even born. But that's what my dad's always said so now I know it as Charlie Brown's despite not even being alive when Charlie Brown's existed.

    When I was playing a tournament as a double empire army faction where my ally was empire as well they would always put me up against George and he knew to take bolt throwers with his high elf army and his ally was an undead and basically he shot up my empire knights on round 1 and did not get to do anything even took the ruby chalice which calls for if your unit takes a wound then all shots at it are a minus 2 to shoot at and minus 1 to hit in hand to hand combat so basically I wish I did not show up that day since I was going to lose anyways this was back when 5th edition of fantasy was around

    Criss Cross Applesauce is funny, someone else covered what it means. My favorite American colloquialism is "Mad Minute" which in firearms culture is when everyone there shooting at the range fires as many rounds down range at the targets as they can for a whole minute.

  • @MattyRlufc

    @MattyRlufc

    18 күн бұрын

    The "Mad minute" comes from a 1909 British Rifle drill which required a rifleman to fire 15 rounds in 1 minute at a 48" target. That's one round every 4 seconds from a bolt action rifle. This was famously used at the Battle of Mons where the weight of fire from the BEF led to Germans reporting they were facing entire machine gun batteries.

    I disagree with your take on proxies north. A toy truck can be a wonderful base model for an ork trukk, I have 3 such trukks, 1 Bonebreaka and 1 kannonwagon myself, and I have properly converted and greebled so they look the part and are also wysiwyg. I much prefer my custom toybashed wagons than having the standard gw trukk that the vast majority of ork players use. Mine are unique looking as ork vehicles should look.

    Hi North, some constructive feedback from a fellow tea drinker - this idea of separating the pictures/videos that people send you and not showing them until the end of the week; it stinks. It brings a real sense of "missing out" to your daily uploads, breaks the flow of the story and actively ruins some of them if the pictures are relevant to the story like in this one.

    “It doesn’t hurt me so I don’t care” is a dangerous attitude. I’m nonbinary, I wish to upend everything you previously thought was real and true. “This doesn’t hurt me physically, you do you!” This is weak and cowardly. Stand up for what is right BEFORE physical harm occurs.
