Hi Roe! I am recovering from anorexia, and I have been watching you since your channel began. You are my favorite KZreadr through my recovery. You have helped make me feel not alone, and I admire you a lot. I agree with your views on recovery. I appreciate your mindset, and I am so thankful you are promoting recovery and opposing diet culture. You have helped more than you can imagine, and you continue to bring a smile to my face every time you post. I don’t know what kinds of comments you got when you told us you were challenging your vegetarianism. But I believe that by doing that, you advance a rare but important idea: that some dietary preferences could be part of an eating disorder, no matter what people tell themselves. I have watched videos by other KZreadrs in recovery while being vegan, vegetarian, and especially those that describe themselves as lactose intolerant, eating dairy alternatives instead of just lactose-free cows milk. I have long wondered if in fact these were disorder restrictions, and this has really bothered me. When I heard that you were challenging your vegetarianism and encouraging others to challenge restrictions, I was grateful and so hopeful for you and for others watching you, that maybe you would inspire them to do the same. I imagine it was very uncomfortable, or even painful, for you to challenge your vegetarianism. Especially because you were vegetarian for so long. Also, prevailing culture currently applauds eating vegetarian or vegan, avoiding dairy, avoiding carbs, avoiding gluten, avoiding fats, etc. Certainly, some people may need to eat this way because of medical needs. But it seems to me that these approaches to eating lead to a wide spread belief that these foods should be avoided because these foods themselves are “bad.” But you made my day when I heard you were challenging your beliefs about food in case they were restrictions for your eating disorder. You are amazing and strong. I am proud of you for three reasons. First, realizing that your vegetarianism may be a restriction. Second, challenging it and giving up being vegetarian by listening to yourself and acting on what you think is right for your body and your mind. Third, promoting that idea of challenging restrictions to others who may be using their dietary preferences as a restriction. You are an inspiration to me by doing that. I hope others that are recovering will follow and challenge that too. So thank you from the bottom of my heart, Roe. Remember: You are Worthy, You are Beautiful, You are Enough. 💗

In case anyone else has a terrible attention span, here is a summary of the goals. I was having a hard time keeping track/processing all of them, so hopefully this will help someone else 1. Be more present, live in the moment. 2. Read more, even just a couple pages a day at the start). 3. Talk more kindly to yourself, challenge unkind ad unhelpful thoughts. 4. Set realistic (small and achievable) goals. 5. Listen to your body in terms of rest and hunger. 6. Get fresh air every day. 7. Keep your space tidy. 8. Learn a new language. 9. Make more of your day, be conscious about how you're spending your time. 10. Less screen time. 11. Reach out for help. 12. Grow out of or donate/sell clothes that don't make you feel good. 13. Pick up a hobby, try something new. 14. Live more minimally, less things. 15. Be less judgmental. 16. Drink more water. 17. Set an amount to fundraise for charity, or just donate what you can. 18. Do more things that scare you. 19. Experiment more with cooking and food. 20. Get dressed (get out of pajamas) every day. 21. Take more pictures of the people/things you love. 22. Travel to other cities and countries (if you have the means). 23. Step outside your comfort zone. 24. Set better boundaries, its okay to say no. 25. Practice daily gratitude. 26. Stick to a sleep schedule. 27. Say nice things to other people. 28. Stop forcing yourself to exercise (for compensation/punishment). Move joyfully. 29. Take medication on time, and daily. 30. Face any rules you have around food. 31. Start the thing you've been too anxious to do. Go for it! 33. Journal your feelings. 34. Stop bodychecking. Cover mirrors if you have to. 35. Reconnect with old friends. Friendship and supportive/emotionally healthy relationships are important. 36. Forgive yourself. 37. Work toward body neutrality, especially if body positivity is unrealistic for you. You don't have to love your body. It can just be your body. 38. Go to a place you've been wanting to go to. (I think I missed one, but i don't know where, or I am terrible at counting, sorry) Prompts: 39. Set yourself one mental goal. One way that will help your brain become happier and healthier. 40. Write one physical goal (not related to manipulating your body), as in going out and volunteering, getting fresh air, etc. Thank you Ro for all of the wonderful ideas! I particularly love 36, that was important to hear. It might take me the whole year, but I will try my best.

Yay, nice to see a new video! :) You're one of my favourite KZreadrs - you're so much of a realist and it's refreshing. Taking things down to their tiniest components re: goals has really helped me get stuff done. I rarely read more than 10 pages a day, but I love the reading that I do, so when I'm struggling to find motivation I say: 'just one sentence' and usually I end up reading at least two pages! :)

My new year goals involve exercising in a way it's fun, not just for body composition. Also, I have to figure out what I want to do after my psychology bachelor, I always thought sports science was my interest, but I'm challenging that thought as it might partly be because I'm so compelled to exercise. The hard thing about letting go of my strict athlete-wannabe lifestyle is that I find so many options now and I really can't decide what to focus on😭 the decision fatigue often leads me to just go back to my gym routine and shut out all the other thoughts. And the pressure from my mom to finally decide on a career path doesn't help either... Maybe someone can relate

I'm recovering from ANOTHER flare up and oomlll Ro your videos are such a comfort. I'm exhausted and in pain, and this video just feels like a hug. Also, as a huge reader, make your goal one page a day. Say no matter what, you read one a day, and most days you'll want to read more, but others one is enough, and that';s okay! Pacing yourself and taking it slow is so important so that it doesn't get overwhelming. reading should be fun, so slowly build an attention span and don't worry, you don't have to read x amount to be a reader.

I also want to make more of my day and being on my phone never makes me happy. But I am constantly so exhausted that i can't move my body. But i also can't sleep and laying around doing nothing is too boring so i look for stimulation and the phone is the easiest way. I just wish i had the energy to do all my stuff but if rest is what i need then I'll be stuck resting for at least a couple months and that will stress me out so much that i will need even more rest and it just sucks. Sometimes i have phases were i get to menage everything and sometimes it gets really hard. I'm doing okay, i just need more energy and i hope i won't be so tired for much longer. I'm trying to give myself the time i need. I think listening to your body plays one of the biggest roles. If you're sitting in an uncomfortable position but i can't even move your leg to make you more comfortable then that is taking energy. I guess it's better to invest energy in being able to properly rest and be comfortable. Having a cup of tea or just getting a cozy blanket can work. Pressure usually takes lots of energy mentally for me, so I'll try to focus on what i need now even if that puts some other things to the side. Once I've regained some energy, i can do the other things. I hope y'all will have a good time and allow yourself to rest

I would love to see some rock climbing videos! Climbing has been a big part of my ED recovery. It helped me focus on how amazing my body is for what it CAN do, and not put all my attention into hating on my body for not looking perfect. Climbing also gave me a reason to look after my body and eat well, be strong, hydrated and HEALTHY rather than trying to force it to look a certain way. I am now working toward becoming an OT and helping other people work on their mental health through therapeutic activity. If you would like a climbing gal pal hit me up! :D

I used to get this a lot , and I promise that the only way to move on and test that theory is to try (I know , it’s a rough one, bud). Just know that however many years it was before you got ill , you were YOU . And hey for all you know your family will probably appreciate you even MORE because they’re so grateful to see you coming back to a better and happier version of you . ♥️
