I am more concern that you may scratch your buddy's soft gold case by laying it bare on the hard and rough wood

@@Saints-Forever The case wasn't on the wood, the bracelet was. If you do it gently then that wood would not scratch it. The bigger concern to me would be the bracelet scratching the caseback.

My palms were getting sweaty seeing the watch perched on that ledge next to the sea ! Great vid!

A sensible commentary about an nonsensical object. To me, Rolex submariner represent the unassuming simplicity in perfect proportion that achieved grand recognition through years of unwavering adherence to its design and craftsmanship philosophy. Hypothetically speaking, even if someone somehow had acquired the foresight into the future, they wouldn't have the discipline to stick to the formula. But Rolex did, so did Coca Cola, and Apple to some extend. The hype, the marketing craze and the association with shallow vulgar snobbery and greed are the by product of human psyche when faced with something of value. Is gold evil? No, gold is just gold. Is Rolex bad? No, Rolex is just Rolex. The way people react to these objects shows more about people than the object itself.

As some KZread dude stated corretly a while ago: "We all like to talk about mechincal, luxury watches being tools. But come on, the only real utility a modern Daytona has, is to show people that you have money." I think, 1,5 year later, you can say this about almost every Rolex and that's a pretty sad story! Nevertheless, I like the new sub way more with the black dials, if it's this whitegold version, or also the steel one with the green bezel. I will never understand the use of sunray dials for "tool watches" but okay, to each his own.

Steel with green is my favorite sub I asked for one we’ll see if they ever call me

4:02 It was actually 40.2 to 40.5. they rounded down to 40 on the one and rounded up to 41 on the other. The size difference isn't that big. The bigger difference was the shape of the lugs, the fact that the bracelet is wider, and that they updated to the new 3235 movement.

I have a white gold Daytona. There's just something about the white gold thats hard to describe until you wear it, that Sub is so nice. I'd rock it.

Nice video! I REALLY like this sub and when I think about potentially getting a full precios medal watch I always tend to lean toward the white gold for the same reason you stated. It’s for the wearer not the onlooker. I like that normal people will think it is a steal watch but to me I know what it is and to the special few that KNOW will really appreciate! I also think steal and white gold look best on me. You also get the benefit of laying under the radar for thiefs that are just looking for that GOLD. Beautiful shot of the watch and I like the side by side of the BLNR to compare the blues. VERY SIMILAR. Great content

I have to say that I actually like the way the PCLs look on this Sub. I also love that fisherman’s sweater, btw.

Because I can, because its different and because I like it. These are the only 3 reasons now why I buy my watches since my last 3 purchases. Next one is bluesy due next month.

Another great video. Totally agree 100% with white gold flying under the radar. Vintage 36mm day date, white gold, stick indices makes my Mt. Rushmore of grail watches.

Bracelet stretch is almost exclusively caused by the links wearing down the pins, not the other way around. These ceramic sleeves protect the pins, not the links.

Just picked up a 20-year old gold Rolex on an Oyster bracelet. No stretch whatsoever. I think it's only really an issue on the President bracelet and gold Jubilees. But it's nice to see the ceramic sleeves included in the gold oyster bracelets (though not sure that they are doing much).

Loved the video as always. I spit up a little coffee when you dropped the "quiet affirmation to yourself that you're better than everyone else" lol I wouldn't spend $40k on a Sub, but I don't begrudge anyone who does. That's a beautiful watch and it's all about getting the watch that makes YOU happy. Great work as always!

Blue is my favorite color and for those people who say they don't like the two tone especially the blue bezel. Take a few seconds to appreciate it. Consider how much more it pops out. Consider how it makes it unique. Consider how one can showcase a unique color with the addition of the colored bezel. Stunning!

Am a Grand Seiko fan boy. But my dad has a datejust from this current gen. It’s super nice, and very well made. You can’t hate the crown. Don’t have it love it, but must respect it.

the black dial / blue bezel combo on a sub (granted it’s extremely similar to a batman) is absolutely gorgeous. if they ever make this model in stainless steel one day, i think it’ll go bananas much like the hulk

Great showcase and agreed -- you'd be crazy to pass it up. Personally, this piece just doesn't resonate. Soft gold, the high-profile of Rolex, a plain solid dial, or even dive watches as a style just don't suit me. But for somebody else it's perfect. To them I say shine on, you crazy diamond.

I have this watch and love it. It’s so low key - only watch nerds know what you’re wearing. It definitely can be easily mistaken for steel - unless you’re wearing it - in which case you can’t ignore the brick on your wrist.

Beautiful. Still prefer the blue dial Smurf over the black dial. There’s something special about that flat cool blue color, while the black dial just looks pedestrian.

I've watched this video 25 times lol. Great job pimping out my next grail piece.
