4 lane HO slot car racing track on a door ! Easy to build, transport and store !
I wanted a 4 lane layout that wouldn't claim much space , looked good and that would be fun and challenging. I found a great solution with this layout that is built on a 36"×80" interior door . The layout is based on the tuckaway that you can find at
www.hoscaleracing.com .
When we move , if I have the space I will buy a 4 and routed track at least 12' in length
but for now this will be a lot of fun , easy to take to the Sr. Center and parties...one of the biggest inspirations for this track was the desire to share slot car racing with others and get them actively involved in the hobby

I got the afx super coming in the mail .. found all my old cars from when i was a kid . Gonna get my kids into it . Thanks for the ideas..
There’s something beautiful about your track! It’s simple, 4 lane, no scenery, and looks challenging. Nice job!

Thank you. Sorry for the late response, I had a brain aneurysm & then we moved.
Nice compact layout, I like the contrast of the surface color you selected, the black track and inner wall color. Well done.
Brings back great memories👍🏾👍🏾
MAN I HAD MY FIRST AFX BACK IN 72 . AND I HAD IT LEAD OUT .. then we would go to hobby shops in New York City .. not around no more .. great era for racing cars and trains sets.. .. tyco and afx …
Hello my friend, may I Just say you did a Excellent Job over all , if I must say The iner Walls you should put Some soft Pading in the inside so The Car Absorb a Crash If it may happen.
Great video. Thank you
Haha i recently found my old afx cars from the early 70s...no track though...so much fun back then!!

very nice..!!
Nice layout. I like the idea that you didn't put rails up.
Diggin’ the raceway. I have a 2 lane micro raceway with about the same total length (26’) of track. Granted, you have way more straights, so I’m sure cars on your raceway have faster lap times. Enjoy brotha 🏎️😎🤙
Just got back from my local (lol 50 min. away) hobby shop where i was running my 32's and a few HO laps too!

Enjoyed it. I have same set & would like to copy it. Did you ever do a layout? Thanks Rick
Nice track. I see you mention hoscaleracing, I believe that site went offline, I wish I had saved some of the templates as I think there were numerous layouts published. I might take yours as a starting point. I have multiple doors so the goal is to extend off one side to add a superlong straight.
very similar to the track layout i had as a kid

It's a fun layout. Great with a variable power supply to keep the power just right and allow for some fast racing but still keep cars from flying off the track frequently..especially with the kids and newbies. 😎🏁
Doy!you bet it gets cold doy!!!
Nice track and video. Inspiring also, to those of us that are tired of not having a layout. Do people screw down the track and file the rails where they meet these days? I ask because I'll be using T Jet track, and I thought some one told me to dress rails using a file on screw secured track. I haven't yet found a video with that being done though. Four lane, the way to go!

Sorry for the late response, the old Aurora lock and joiner track is usually pretty smooth. Set up a small layout and see what you think. If you use anything to clean up the rails, vacume track well and go over rails with a strong magnet to pick up any metal dust etc
Im thinking of adding a hinge mechanism to a concept like this so that it could easily be folded up and stored vertically flush with the wall. when in use, it lays flat with drop down legs. thoughts on that? watch outs? any builds?
The super international doesn't have enough track to do this layout out of the box. You had to of added additional track pieces correct?
How you keep the track on the wood and what type of door you used
With the price of wood these days, I'm going to have to wait until I win the lottery!
We’re do y get track layout with everything to run
Love your layout, Went to hoscaleracing, it said Not available. Would love to build. But I would need a diagram of all the track pieces and there. Sizes

Did you attach track to door . How.
How did you secure the track to the wood?

Use small trumpet head Phillips head screws or if you think you may want to change the layout, I have seen people use a tiny dab of silicone caulk in several places around the layout. TINY DAB ..just enough to keep track in place. If your happy with & know you want to keep the layout, you can then secure the track with screws.
Could a simple 4 lane oval fit on a 6x3?

Do the cars take much damage hitting the walls? 20FT BY 4FT AFX.

Bodies can get broken, especially F1 bodies, front spoiles/wings break easily with a good crash into the wall. Some type of foam is a good idea to help prevent damage. Some rigid foam insulation from Home Depot works well. I also really like that dense white foam like material that is often found as packing material in some electronic components.

@@slotslidershoslotcars I use clear thin flexible plastic from orange juice containers and windshield wiper packaging.

@@mortonbeard2240 yes, use that to keep the cars from leaving that section if they out. We use the foam on the boarder walls around the outside of the track table to decrease body and chassis damage. I'm sure your ideas will work well.🏁
Nice setup!! Is anyone out there looking for a AFX 4 Lane that's more than 50 ft long. I have 85-15" 2-15" terminals straights, also 9"-6"-3" straights, as well and turns from 18" down to 6" Makes a real nice road course. I have pictures.
