A few yrs ago while I was studying the Bible, I was curious about the Passover meal, and Jesus was Jewish so he ate the Passover meal with his disciples. That yr with my son, daughter in law and 3 grandchildren we sat at our first Easter/Passover meal, Jewish style. I read to my grandchildren about the tradition of that meal and what everything on theirs plate meant. We talked about Jesus, about the greatest sacrifice He made for us by dying for our sins, we prayed together and had a wonderful meal. Since then I have been traveling to theirs house every year and we celebrate Easter/ Passover together. We also watch an animated video I got for them about different stories of the Bible. I cherish that time of year. Thank you for your great videos Amber. Have a wonderful week 💙🕊🙏✝️🙏🕊💙

We go to church every Sunday, so Easter is no different. I make the same meal every year and keep it fairly simple. Ham, German potato salad, asparagus, rolls, and a bunny cake or other dessert. Our daughter and her family come for dinner.

We do too! But we usually have family/friends over after church on Easter! I love asparagus. That's a good Easter one too.
Our Easter dinner this year will be all crockpot recipes thankfully I have 8 in all different sizes. I am recovering from knee replacement surgery so it will be easier on me.

I take Easter dinner to my In laws. We do ham, twice baked sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, cream cheese stuffed black olives, deviled eggs, green beans, garlic cheese bread and carrot cake roll.

Here in NE Wisconsin we've had 33(+/-) inches of snow since the weather bureau started keeping track in July. It's been mostly rain and not very much. I hope we don't end up with a drought like the one in 1871. Living conditions are somewhat different nowadays but the possibility of fire is still present. Easter, it's just another Sunday since it's just me and my cat Lightfoot. I read the gospels during holy week and watch some of the life of Jesus videos. Hope you all have a wonderful Easter and God bless.

For several years I've been making shepherds pie with beef and lamb, the day before without baking. Ill serve with a salad.

love to cook my corn beef in a crock pot too...thought I would add that I add about 1 quart apple juice to crock + water to cover. You don't taste the apple, it just adds a sweetness to the meat and is wonderful. Also add carrots, potatoes and quartered cabbage the last hour of cooking. Love this meal especially for St. Patty's Day and we aren't even Irish!

That's how we do it here! It's real life.
We have it with just the three of us (my husband, adult son, and I). However, it is a little hard to get everything done since after church on Sunday we pick up a weeks of day old bakery goods and deliver it to a mission. However, we have gotten to a point where we make a smaller meal with ham, carrots in honey sauce, and usual some type of potato side but this year we will have spatzel, and Japanese milk rolls. If there is a dish we remember from our childhood, we make on another night that week just to enjoy it.

Most of my kids, grandkids, and greats come to our house. There will be about 30 of us. The in-laws bring their parents if they don't have other plans. We are having baked ham and brisket, baked potatoes with all the toppings, green beans, a good green salad, cole slaw, corn pudding, relish plate, deviled eggs, and I don't know what all people are bringing. We will have pies, cakes, and cobblers for dessert. The rest of the day we will crunch on chips and dips, and appetizers. The little ones will hunt Easter Eggs with prizes and candy. We go to to Easter Vigil Mass together on Saturday night and this year we are going to have Easter on Saturday also. It's a change, but some of our kids want to go to a different church on Sunday morning. Sunday will be a day of rest and left overs for hubs and I. Since we are both in our 80s, we will be ready to have a day of rest.

There are a few things that I cook in the CP without liquid. Corned beef is one and if I want the potatoes to be more of a roasted texture I won't add liquid. It all depends on the food you're cooking and the moisture/fat content in the food.

Easter is always dressing up for church and then lunch at the house (pretty much all of our holiday meals are lunchtime). It's always ham. Typically cheese grits or scalloped potatoes or macaroni and cheese. Deviled eggs definitely. Rolls. And the other sides may vary slightly.

Not a ham fan ,but yes to corned beef,Brussels sprouts and potatoes. In my laziness,I had been splurging on the ready prepared mashed until I read that they are made with dried potato flakes which are sooo cheap and light weight. Even I can mix 1 for 1 flakes and liquid according to box directions. I cooked up some ground lamb in my fancy multi cooker and added frozen peas, corn and onions. I'm going to transfer to a casserole dish, top with reconStittuted mash and finish in the oven. Hopefully the result will be passable shepherd's pie.

In an aha moment a couple of years ago, knowing that white granulated sugar is sugar cane with the molasses processed out,I switched to less processed sugar Florida brand or the Domino version. I keep a squeeze bottle filled with molasses on my baking shelf next to my homemade vanilla extract. If I want browner sugar than the less processed sugar (which measures 1 for one with either brown or white),I squirt in molasses until I am happy with the color. No more boxes of brown brick sugar. Saves shelf and aggrava space and aggravation. The. Less processed sugar doesn't clump as much.

@@FeedingtheByrds Thanks!!
Vinegar lasts almost forever as it is a preservative. Those use by/sell by dates are guidelines, not written in stone. You could use that balsamic vinegar for another couple years and y’all will be fine. ❤
