This is a much needed video for me, I don't like putting a lot of products in my hair fine strands so it weighs my hair down. Thank you for the creativity you put in using your hair partner. Your presentation was on point, I have a better understanding of how all these different styling options can work and why. Thank you

Yes! This was a HUGE help to me! Thank you! One thing I learned about my hair and skin, it doesn’t like anything with coconut oil in it. It sits like grease on my skin without absorbing and makes my hair very frizzy and crunchy like I have protein overload. So I try to stay away from it. However, almost every product I look at has this oil in it! That’s the tough part for me! I have to read the ingredient list on everything before purchasing and my list so far is very short. Thanks for sharing your extremely helpful tips!

Thank you so much! And that's the thing with coconut oil --- some people love it and some people don't. 🤗. Its certainly one of my favorites but its is also high on the comedegenic scale so its also pore clogging so I wouldn't recommend it for your scalp. So you would like products WITHOUT coconut oil right? I'm always looking for new video content. LOL!

Very helpful although I only do wash and goes. I like my style to last at least 4days if I put the moisturizer under my gel I don’t get much definition and hold so I put it over my gel but after watching this I think I’ll just go lighter on moisturizer and use more gel on top of it.

Hi Ms. Ossie! Yes. Too much moisturizer will soften the hold of the gel -- of course depending on the gel. Like you, I am a wash n go girl too -- and I only use gels --- but I actually tried mousse this week for the first time -- talk about no hold -- video coming soon!

I just tried mousse about a week ago and you’re right no hold, maybe 2 days. I did retry my moisturizer under gel and I just used less moisturizer than gel and that worked. Anyway love your videos.

Hi Mayonie! Try Joie Naturals My Gel. A little goes a long way. You get the best results when you sit under a hooded dryer for about 20 minutes or so, then you can let air dry.

Great video!!! Can you tell me where a custard lies in the spectrum? As a former DIYer, I’m curious if custards, gels, or creams, will give me a similar look as my shea butter concoction. Thank you so much! Love your personality💕💕💕

  • @KarenofCurlHouse

Hi Erica! Thank you so much! I love this stuff! Custards are styling gellies -- Kinky Curly Curling Custard, Design Essentials Curling Custard -- the consistency would be similar to like EcoGel. So if you are shea butter type person -- custards have a heavy concentration of water so they have give a very defined, and 'tighter' look than a butter based product. I would go for a cream/butter based to replicate your look. Try Camille Rose Almond Jai Twisting Butter...I think that may work.

So would you recommend we use 2 products? I liked the way the curl cream and curl gel looked, so should I use both together? I like my hair to be moisturized but I also want a good hold.
