    I was experiencing hair loss from January 23 to April to the point where my tub was clogged. Went to see a dermatologist & was given injection & minoxidil. No change. Never told me to get blood work done. Thanks to videos like this I went to my doctor & had blood work done. My ferritin level was at 30. My doctor told me it was normal. I did some research & was told ferritin levels should be between 50 -70 for optimal growth. Ordered iron supplements. And today my sides & middle are growing. It's so important to do research & obtain the right information.

    Yes! It may be “normal” but normal isn’t optimal for hair growth. So glad you continued to do your research. And even happier that you are well on your way to full hair restoration 🙌🏾

    I can attest to my hair clogging my tub as well. A good iron supplement is the "raw iron" by garden of life. Liquid iron is even better.

    Yes! I did a video series out of hard water. The picture that I showed in this video where my hair grew in 3 months, I had just cut several inches because of HARD WATER DAMAGE so you are so right! I am going to do a part 2 video and discuss the damaging effects of hard water. Thanks for the tip!

    Hi Karen. I’m sure po’ folks like myself will figure out an innovative solution for hard water. Hair like my 4c(def) tends to need extra, extra care..I use old school sulfur 8. Half of the product I put in an empty sulfur 8 container and mix with water. It is amazing. The other half I divide in two parts. One part I leave as the original product. The other part I mix with JBC. The half mixed with water I use on my hair as a moisturizer and sealant. The original, on my scalp when needed. And the S8 w/ jcb I use to stimulate the crown and other thin areas. I have hard water as well. But this method with daily moisturizing (and supplements and fresh rosemary) is working so far for me. Struggle w scarves. They come off. No bonnet yet; but thanks for your videos. Your hair is gorgeous, easier to manage, and obviously not 4C. ❤

    Oh Karen! I really LOVED this video! I just got my big chop not too long ago, and some people at work tell me my hair has grown a little. Even at the bank the tellers said the same thing! Lol. I just see a small difference, but I do brush it every night, masssge my scalp in the morning, and I keep it moisturized. I've started going to the salon weekly now, because with a twa, it gets dirty faster due to product build up. Last year before my big chop, a friend took me to the doctor because I was always dizzy and my hair had stopped growing. I found out I was very low in vitamin D! So far my levels are good now, but they drop so easily. And I'm beginning to LIKE my 4B/4C hair! Some hairdressers even tell me that I have good curl definition 😊 I'm looking forward to part two of the video. I wish I could meet you in person! Lol Love ya! ♥️♥️♥️

    Just stumbled across your channel. Even though I’ve researched much of todays info, I still love to hear from a specialist and it’s a bonus when you present the info clear and concise and a triple bonus, with a soothing yet upbeat voice. I have medical issues that affect my diet. I take supplements and all but I don’t have a proper regimen and I see that that’s worse than anything towards hair growth. I start well but fatigue and laziness creep in and routines are skipped or not completed and that is my downfall for retention and optimal hair growth. But I will keep trying to focus. But just wanted to say thanks for wonderful videos. ❤

    Hello! I don't really consider twist and braid out protective styles as most of the hair is out or exposed to the ends, the ends are necessarily tucked away and they require some type of manipulation for maintenance. But they are GREAT on the edges. Unlike many protective styles, you do run the risk of tension or traction on the edges. Its your own blood that will help stimulate the hair follicles. An viable hair follicle is the key. Make you do a thorough consultations with the doctor or nurse, or whoever will do the injections though.

    Hey there Sparkleangel! And welcome to the Curl House Community! You can certainly use rosemary as it is relatively clear. Green tea, when steeped, is a pale yellow is should be ok as many of the pale yellow oils I use are ok on the hair BUT I am planning to do a video next week where I will actually dip grey hair in oils to confirm they don't discolor -- I will go ahead and add green tea to my little experiment. Hey there! Thank you so much! No you don’t. You want to give the oil time to really penetrate into the hair follicle so don’t wash it out immediately. For example, you can oil at night for bed and wash in the morning if that’s the 5th day and your wash day.

    Hello Karen. I'm new to your channel. I'm in my 40s and I have noticed that my hair texture has changed. My hair was a mix of 3c and 4a with a loose z pattern. I have been natural for 3 years since my most recent big chop and my hair has regrown with a tighter curl 4a and 4b. I'm at a loss as to why the change occurred. As soon as I detangle my hair it shrinks back up, this did not occur before. I would appreciate some insight from you. Thanks.

    Hi Liza! Welcome to the Curl House Community! Hair texture changes in the 40s is not uncommon -- my texture changed due to graying (in my 40s), but typically when there are changes in the hormones (menopause or perimenopause) that may accompany changes in texture as well. I've witnessed these hair textures challenges from my clients and ew of my close family members. Also, iron deficiency or cause the hair to feel brittle or dry but not necessary change to the texture but makes it more prone to breakage.

    hi karen, per your suggestion I got a hold of a dermatologist and even though im not very happy with how I was treated (he didnt really analyze my hair, he just took note of my symptoms and came up with a conclusion) ,I have been diagnosed with telogen effluvium. He did say it should take 18 months for my hair shedding to calm down, pretty sure I will be bald by then sporting that comb over look, gave me some nutrafol too (the plant based one), not much has changed. What now? Also omg, you're vegetarian?? do you have a cookbook? also where do you get your rosemary oil and the tea ?

  • @KarenofCurlHouse

    @KarenofCurlHouse

    Жыл бұрын

    Hello there! I'm sorry you had that experience. Have you identified what triggered the excessive shedding? This is so important because the trigger must addressed and corrected for the body to self correct itself. For example, if you are under tremendous amounts of stress, then you must manage the stress for the hair loss to stop. Are you under abnormal stress? The vitamins are a good supplement but with TE, the causation has to be addressed as well.

Then there's some that start thick, thins out, thick then thins out again - this is on one hair strand. At the tip there's no bulb so that indicates its breaking off close to the root.
