Yes - I have found steam treatments very effective and relaxing. I use the steamer instead of a hooded dryer. I typically wash/deep condition my 40/60 gray hair every 2 weeks. Thank you.
I am 59. My chemical-process free hair is about 40/60 gray and just 3" short of my waist. I do my own hair because the stylists in my area seem to be more skilled at working with artificial hair (weaves/sew-in's, chemically altered hair) and very little knowledge/experience working with Black hair longer than your neck. I was raised on Ultra Sheen (the green one for xtra dry hair) and I swear by it to this day - especially in the warmer/humid months (I live in Michigan) when any form of heat styling is a waste of time. Thanks so much for the information on gray hair. I have also used Matrix and Joico purple shampoos with great results.
Karen, do you have any style videos such as one on the 2-strand flat twist that you are wearing in one of your videos about hair accessories?
Hey Valerie! I am releasing the long form more detailed videos of the two strand style in a few weeks, but this is a quick short. The only difference is I put a styling cream in my hair in the 'hair accessories' video you saw which made my hair smoother. But here goes: kzread.infoFqMKvbVV9m0
Thank you for this video. I am 62 and been on tamoxifen, which blocks my estrogen. I'm coming to the end of taken it in 8 mos.
hi 72 as well and I have hair lost but I'm a little gray but I would like to hi light the gray my name is Genevia
Forget the hair. How can I get my teeth like that?❤❤❤
Braces for 3 years! LOL!
Hi Karen ❤ how to be with short hair. I have gray and dry hair. I need moisturizer every day. But my curls lose their shape. Galina from Russia.💋🙋🏽
Thank you so much Karen, I believe I need a miracle 4c hair moisture…
Quinoa is a good source of protein as well.
Hi, do you also have a home in Washington DC, I'm coming to visit you from Switzerland.please
Your tip was not lost on me BUT I truly laughed out loud when you said don’t use shears that you use to cut chicken. 😂 Somehow, just that quick, I envisioned it. 🤣
😂. I am so silly! I can't help myself! there is nothing like a little laughter to keep you going!
@@KarenofCurlHouse I agree. 😊
Not the chicken shears 😂😂
Hahaha! I couldn’t help myself 😝
You're talking a lot. So tell us what kind to invest in and where to buy.. Ok let us know.
Hey there! You can see the video in its entirety and check out the links in the description for recommendations: kzread.info/dash/bejne/gImhzrp6dMK7frg.html
I use sheers that came with the Whal clippers
Those are great as well!
PERFECT! Thank you for giving me MORE information on the LOC/LCO method. My issue with my hair is absorbing moisture. I use the LOC method. It works GREAT with twists. When i do a wash-n-go, my ends have the "bunny tail" effect. The products just sit on my hair. It never absorbs it. Why is this happening? HELP😢
Would you recommend a clarifying shampoo? If so do you have any recommendations?
Great video❤
Hey great video❤
Thanks a bunch! I appreciate it!
Very informative video. One question thats especially unique to my hair but might apply to others. I have at least three different textures of hair. Will the technique I use work better on different textures? What will the variable mean for the experiment results? Thank you
I use to just wash my hair condition it. Then blow dry my hair with a leave in conditioner after that put hair grease in and set it with a pony tail. Through out the week I would just add water until my next wash day. Also periodically I would just add leave in and water and reset my hair back into the pony tail until wash day.
Hey Lisa! Seems like a great low manipulation and moisture retention methods! Keep on keeping your hair healthy! 💜
Is it better to air dry the hair or blow dry the hair with cool air.
Hey there! Either one is fine actually - cool air is key 🔑
Where can i get a good wooden comb
Hey there! Here you go: 🪮 Sandalwood Comb: amzn.to/3xttu2E
This is so helpful thank you😊
You're so welcome! 💜
I just used washed my hair and used LCO method on left side and LOC on the right side.
Hey there! Fabulous! So glad you are doing the weekend challenge! Once you figure out which side makes your hair feel best then you can move on to your styles tomorrow. I know you sent another message about styles. Tomorrow you do whatever style you want …. I have videos and wash n go. Let me know if want me to send you a video. But you can re-wet your hair; or saturate it fully to do curl definition. And let me know which side feels better! 💜🙌🏾
Hello Karen, Thank you for following up!!!! My L is a leave-in conditioner that has more water in it. I can literally shake it in the bottle. I plan to transfer that to my continuous spray mist bottle. The C was also a leave-in conditioner but is heavier and is cream based. I used an oil that has six types. Is the C option okay and is a oil blend also acceptable?Thankfully I am allowed to work from home on Mondays so I'll let you know the status after it has fully dried) before I move on to styling it. ❤️
My hair takes a while to dry so I checked Monday morning. LOC and LCO tied for great shine, no broken ends and softness. I retwisted again. Will check the moisture again this afternoon. I have to style it for the office tomorrow.
@@jgrant4736 yay! Ok so as of now there is no difference between the two? This is a good thing!!! And your hair seems to be holding moisture as well.
I feel stupid for listening to the blowout professor on youtube. That man doesn't know what he talking about.
Hey! Please don’t feel stupid! We are always learning 💜
That hair DNT look real sorry
All of this gray … it’s real 😆
Excellent video .. thank you! 🙏🏾 I use Mielle Organics Pomegranate & Honey Leave in conditioner, would this product be categorized as a leave in or cream ? The reason I ask is because the consistency of it is like a milk and since it’s a thicker consistency should I still consider using a cream? Also, I have your follicle stimulating growth drops can this be used as my oil ? My hair is low porosity. Thank you Karen .. keep up the great content ! God Bless you . 🙏🏾👍🏾💝✝️
Hey there! That's a great question. It will probably be considered a cream because of its consistency. So technically the "L" is considered liquid (or water), so it can lighter weight or more 'watery' spray. Also, the growth drops are water based, and should be used on the scalp as opposed to hair. Thank you so much for the encouragement. I really appreciate it and your viewership! 🙌🏾
@@KarenofCurlHouse thank you for the quick response! 💝 I am going to experiment with jojoba oil using LCO and LOC to see which method works best for my hair. My wash day is weekly on Fridays and I workout 4-5 times a week, by Wednesday my hair is starting to look and feel dry. I’m a wash n go gal, any suggestions on a good refresher / moisturizer spray ? Will that be a product you will be offering in July ? Thanks again 🙏🏾
If I've been getting my hair done professionally in updos and don't really want to upset the style by moisturizing it every night, is that ok? I have CCCA in the crown pretty badly and thinning in the front as well so it's hard for me to style, on top of it being mostly 4b/4c and with it being so hot now. Thanks for these videos, you are such a blessing to the hair community!
Hey Banita! I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND which is why I noted in the video to minimize the use of water based products (like leave-in conditioner) on the hair, when you don't want to compromise the hair style so you right on track. Use oil instead if you need to nourish the hair. Hopefully you're CCCA is stabilized and your getting some treatment for it. Thank you so much for sharing 💜
My short hair always dry up that is Jherri Curl came. Our hair must stay damp or turns into kinky hair when it dries. I spray or rub a damp wash cloth thru my hair to let my curl pop...
Yassss! Great technique to make your curls pop!
I just subscribed to your channel. I needed to find someone my age 50 + with natural hair journey because it's a lot tougher with menopause knocking at my door! I'm going to be 51 soon and 3 months ago, I quit the wigs, the braids and it took me a lot of courage to do that! I still covering my hair in public with nurse's hat when I go to work and cute hair wraps, which I'm having a lot of fun doing, once my hair is stronger, I plan to wear it out still in protective style kind a way! But for right now, no wigs, no braids and I'm proud! So, I'm truly at the start of my natural hair journey!
CONGRATULATIONS AND WELCOME TO THE CURL HOUSE COMMUNITY! 💜 It is truly a journey! It is my hope that my channel can provide some insight to help make it fabulous! Here's a video to help: kzread.info/dash/bejne/c4tlr7apdJfQfdI.html
I needed this big time and really appreciate it. I'm doing more Wash and Go's like you recommended and back to flat twists as well. Oh, by the way, I chose the retained answer. Yay!!!! I'm so sure that everyone enjoyed this video. You rock!!!!
Hey Sunshine! Yay! I know your hair is thriving! And you are well educated since coming the course so I know you got this! 💜🙌🏾 I’m proud of your progress and excited about what’s to come. 😘
I like your up-do's❤ Please share how you do this and other hair styles❤

Does grapeseed oil clog your scalp what is its rating?
Hey Verna! It has a rating of 1 🙌🏾. So it won't clog the pores so it s a go!
I keep my hair contained in twist. I do the LCO method which works good for me. Remoisturize at least 2-3 times out of the week before I wash. Great video 😀
Fabulous!! That sounds like the perfect schedule! And I know your hair is thriving! 🙌🏾💜
I use the LCO method as well. I use Shea Butter to twist it.
Hi Karen! My comments got lost so I have to retype! Lol. Thank you for another great video! I think when my twa grows out more I want to do contained hairstyles to retain moisture, length, and protect my ends. And I'd love to send you pics of my progress but I'm still having trouble. I'm going to ask some friends to help me! ♥️♥️♥️😘😘😘
Hey Ms Luwanna! Yes -- there are so many styles you can do to maintain moisture and length retention! Please get someone to help you! I really want to see and monitor our progress!

My hair isn't long enough to put it in just two sections 🤣
Hahahaha! Well in the last week’s video I said you can put it in 4 sections … you can improvise and get it done 🙌🏾
Thanks for sharing 🙏🏾☺️🎉❤
Hey there! I think you asked me a question on last week video … still getting caught up but will reply 💜
@@KarenofCurlHouse Wanted to let you know I got a tortoise detangling comb without seams in the teeth and it's the BOMB diggity 😁. And it cost me about a dollar and some change at a beauty supply store ☺️ Thanks for your reply. "Waiting patiently"-Isaiah 30:18 🙏🏾💜💐😀

Hello! If you have locs and have high porosity hair and have to use a water based products not creamy products . What do you recommend?

I had to watch this video at least 4x's because I was so focused on your two simple twists. Our hair color, texture, length is close to identical and I've been wondering how I to fix my hair in a simple style that looks cute. God is so awesome. Thank you sis!!!!!!
You are very welcome! I’ve gotten so many compliments on this hair style! We certainly do a video on how to achieve this look in minutes 💜🙌🏾
