I've been natural for over 20 years (locs are now to my hips). I wish I'd known about steam treatments years ago. I now swear by my Q-Redew steamer. Thank you, Ms. Karen!

Yes - I have found steam treatments very effective and relaxing. I use the steamer instead of a hooded dryer. I typically wash/deep condition my 40/60 gray hair every 2 weeks. Thank you.

Hi Karen, I love streaming my curls. I just did a video on my channel showing how I stream my curls before shampooing. I like to stream once or twice a month and I have high porosity hair. Thank you for sharing this video.

I didn’t know that you steam your hair prior to shampooing! I was steaming after shampooing then applied conditioner prior to steaming. Thank you for this important info

I agree; however, just with any other treatment, too much isn't good. I definitely need to use the steamer prior to shampooing. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Karen, Thank you for your video. How do I steam before shampooing; put nothing on my hair then sit under for 20-25mins; then shampoo as normal and then deep condition with my hooded dryer (I have high porosity hair)?

I really enjoy your streams. They are so informative and concise. May I ask how long should you sit under the steamer? It seems like my salon treatments were 15-20 minutes for my thin, low porosity hair. I have a hooded steamer but never sure of the time to set.

Steam treatments while in the shower is a good alternative as well. Thanks for sharing. What are your thoughts on that because of the pattern and texture of natural curly kinky hair that it can't be low porosity because the cuticles don't lay flat?

I have a RedPro table top steamer that I purchased on Amazon a few years ago. It also comes with a facial steaming attachment. I've also used the facial steaming attachment on my hair. I've definitely gotten my use out of it.

  • @KarenofCurlHouse

Hey there! Steam goes directly to the hair. When you sit under a hooded dryer use a shower cap (which will then create the steam)
