I love it!!! We need MORE 5.7 varieties. This round has so much potential! You always do such a fantastic job and you are very professional. Thank you!

Why it’s important to load your own ammo. Especially if you have 10mm, 5.7, etc. keeps you from selling yourself short or getting raped financially
I'll be frank... This is the only review I've seen on the 4.6X30

I'm genuinely upset we don't get regular bolt action or PC carbine style guns in 5.7 or 4.6 It genuinely looks like a great small varmint cartridge when you want to step up from 22mag

A solid copper would be great for this cartridge. I never looked into it that much TBH. When I first heard of 4.6, I didn't expect it to be a 5.7 contender so I didn't pay it much attention. Pretty cool still. Hopefully we'll see more loads develop and a niche will form. Would love to see it last. Thanks for sharing.

Great point
People who say “Horna-day” are completely wrong. It’s spelled HornaDY not -dey, -day, -dei, or whatever way to pronounce that “DAY” sound. Here is a brief and incomplete list of words ending in DY that aren’t pronounced the way some people pronounce Hornady wrong: study, hardy, woody, windy, ready, candy, sandy….etc

The Fiocchi 4.6 performs better and does penetrate soft armor.

4.6 for the hoods, 17 HMR for the woods
Hornadeeee
5.7 is passable for semi auto usage, but excels in full auto. 4.6 looks like it was designed for full auto only.
Thank you for this data, sir. Interested to see how the 46EXB load would perform.

Definitely the best performance I've seen from a 4.6 so far, but also the worst 😬
OMG did Hornady actually send you some Hornady black ammo? There were tons of people in the comments section a few weeks ago telling them to mail you some for independent testing.

Would you say the 5.7x28 has less or more foot pounds of energy than the 4.6x30?

That's highly dependent on the velocity and bullet weight of the round.
Nifty little thing and nice tight , good expansion and energy.
Will you please please please do a video with Sinister fire 9millimeter.

Hey guys. What do you all think about a 37gr BTHP .17 Rem @ 3400 FPS? It would get this performance at 500 yards!! Half the recoil and weight of MK262. Thoughts?

That velocity would bleed off too fast I would think and there's not enough mass there. I don't feel it would compete with MK262

@@BuffRANGE 2829fps @ 200yds. 2565fps @ 300yds. 2082fps @ 500 yds. Like getting shot at 5 yards from a VMAX MP7 @ 400-500 yards. Not bad from a short barrel. Full auto at 600 rpm would be a laser. 30-40% more velocity then MK262 and M855 at 300-600 yards
It's not Horn-a-dāy, it's Horn-a-dy.
Every time I see a 4.6 or 5.7 review I’m glad I have 300 blk

My prediction is that both 5.7 and 4.6 are underpowered.
To it's credit, the 4.6 out of that gun has a better Neck, fragmentation, expansion, and penetration then any other 5.7 V-Max I've seen you test. I know the solid Copper's do more work, but for a V-Max I haven't seen better out of 5.7. Also, 5.7 V-max can't even go through level II, the Armor test is pointless for V-Max stuff.

@@balljointfd3s It's very dependent on the material being used in the IIIA. Aramids typically fail to bullets above 1900-2000 fps, but some bullet construction is needed. When UHMWPE comes into play hardened bullet materials are needed :D

That test was BS. Watch the video by Oxide where he tests 4.6 and 5.7 vs body armor. 4.6 shoots an identical weight bullet faster from a shorter barrel and penetrates better.

All these sub 556 cartridges are just a waste of time and everyone who has ran them seriously, knows that. You can't beat a mk18 or similar if you want a small, go fast, high cap cartridge in a small'ish package with acceptable wounding performance. If you can't meet or exceed 556 wounding (you won't), then stepping up the diameter is the next best thing. That's why 9mm and 30 super carry exist.
@timewave02012

300 Blackout is 5.56 stepped up in diameter to improve short barrel performance. It's equivalent to or better than 5.56 for short barrels in every way expect ammunition weight.

@@timewave02012 Workaround or not, it does its job. Necked has its pros, but that mostly applies to QC. Bullet selection variety doesn't matter when the big names make bullets for it, like lehigh and makers, super and subsonic. The russians tried subsonic 7.62x39 and dumped it for a reason. Plenty of animals have been put down with 350L and it will do the same to humans.
