    Do you notice any piston slap with 2618 pistons on cold starts? I want to do something similar on my 3v supercharged with a Paxton blower. Need help in deciding on 2618 or 4032 forgings? Thanks

    Looking at this piston and rod setup for a turbo build. Looking to push 900 wheel. Definitely upgrading the valvetrain too. Do you think I would have to worry about the heads or the stock valves holding up with that kind of boost?

    I think you should upgrade your valves. I don’t know what your rpm goals are but I think anything over 6 k you should think to do it. This motor will most likely never see more than 6500 and no more than 650 hp. Really consider traction concerns. with that kind of power. I have destroyed several 1000 hp coyotes twin setups with my 1300 hp 6000 # turbo Silverado. If you can get 650 to hook you would destroy my truck.

    I have a 3v and I do want to build it in the future when I can actually afford to. When I first got the car, I always wanted to coyote swap it in the future since, let’s be honest, the coyote is just a better motor. But after owning the car for 4 years I’ve changed my mind and really want to build the 4.6 because that motor gets a lot of hate and I want to own something that not many other people would build. My goal would be around 550-600 hp to the wheels, nothing too insanely crazy but definitely enough to gap any coyote I come across.

    im with that! Fuckin good luck bro! i felt the exact same way wen i got my 07 shelby gt 4 years ago... well like a year or two into owning it i did. thought coyote swap. now im on a journey to hit 800rwhp! dropped a stage 2 roush sc and single driveshaft in it a year ago and making about 420rwhp, almost 500 hp

    @@WONDERBREAD89 hell yeah man! I just put a set of cams in my 3 valve not too long ago, just got back from mustang week in Myrtle beach, SC and had a blast with the car. Next up are a set of wheels and some more cosmetic mods, then I’ll set my eyes on either internals or boost.

    @@WONDERBREAD89 I went with the hot rod cams from Ford. I did an absolute assload of research on those, the Detroit Rockers, and comp cams. Out of those 3, the hot rod cams are the ones that had the most positive reviews with the least amount of negative reviews. After that I had the car re tuned by Lito, if you’ve never heard of him he’s a guy who specifically tunes the 3v motors, he’s been doing it for many years and has gotten really good at it. The car feels a lot faster especially in the higher rpms and sounds really good at idle. I think with some long tube headers I could push it near 400, and with some 4.10 gears I think it’ll be a pretty mean ride, maybe even able to keep up with the coyote cars. I’m sure it will still have nothing on yours tho lol

    @@CG_Element Those are the best sounding cam no doubt! Detroit's super charger grind cam have no low end tq loss. From wat I've found and wat they(brenspeed) tell me. Same almost cud be said about the HRC but I do believe they say minimal tq loss. Right? But ur 410s and the boss man Manuel's litto tune fixed that right up I bet! Sounds like a legendary ride my friend! I do wish I had more in person mustang friends than over the inner webs lol Cheers man👊

    So generally speaking, Is it a better idea to buy an MMR short block and rebuild from there or tear down the motor and fit it with forged internals from Summit racing? The MMR short block is almost 5K and the Summit Racing forged internals are about $1800.

    Money is easy to find, time is something you can't buy. engine swaps take a lot of time. Why not get the 5.3L MODULAR STROKER SHORTBLOCK from ford performance and just move the heads and everything over? Sure it's $7300, but it's ready to go. I'd like to see what 12lbs of boost could make on a 5.3 with 3v heads.

    How much horsepower gain would all of this be on a stock motor ?

  • @Brainstangs

    @Brainstangs

    4 жыл бұрын

    not much of a hp gain at all. just making the bottom end forged. I kept the same factory compression ratio. You could add a little with bumping up the compression ratio with different pistons. The way i built this motor it should handle 900 boosted hp to the wheels all day long provided you got a clean tune, good fuel, and a lot of boost. it would need 25 psi about to make that power number.

    LS came out in 97 the 4.6 came out in late 1990-1991. Why post a video full of inaccuracies? In all honesty I, in my own opinion, wish that you closet Chevy lovers would just stop messing with Fords if you don't know what you're doing. the most you would have to change is the rods and the Pistons the three valve heads flow exceptionally well. If anything you raise the compression ratio when you swap the Pistons the same way you would do if you were to take the 2v pi heads and place them on a prior to 2000 short block. It's not rocket science. it's just a bunch of you people who don't know what you're doing and because YOU think a Chevy engine is easier to build you speak down on Fords overhead cam engines. Ffs there's information all over the web that shows compression ratios and flow rates for the 3v heads and you cross reference that or superimpose it on the data from the new coyote and you will see that you actually have a monster on your hands if you're smart. That is all have a good day

    wow. someone got there feelings hurt. Im a mechanic every day. I work on every type of engine. Any statements I make are because I have had many fords. Truth is they work fine. They are expensive to make go fast. mod motors have there advantages, but ls motors have many more. There is a reason you dont see many people swaping 5.4 and 4.6 motors into anything. Ford made 10 gazilion of these things and most are rotting in a yard somewhere. Gm 4.8,5.3,5.7,6.0,6.2 are being swapped into everything. You can hate it and hate on chevy and call us dumb because we think its easier to work on ls motors, well the truth is....it is easier, cheaper, smaller than that fat ass 4.6, and make way more power on stock stuff. Parts all swap, no cleavland/windsor plant crap that wont mix. Shut your mouth. You assume I dont know anything about fords. I cant tell you how many lame ass 5.4 3 valves I had to lock out cam phasers this last year on 100,000 mile motors because the cam wore the head and it cant keep control of the phasers. You can keep your fords. Spend more to go fast. Im fine with that. Next time your at the track, look at every foxbody there... 70 percent or more are ls swapped
