High Torque 6 Speed Transmission. If your S197 Mustang is producing more power than the stock transmission can effectively handle, you need the Ford Performance TREMEC Magnum XL T56 6-Speed Transmission. This kit is applicable to the 2005-2014 Mustang GT and has a torque capacity of 700 foot-pounds. This transmission kit is ideal for tuned naturally-aspirated or forced-induction Mustangs and comes with pre-configured gear ratios to deliver outstanding acceleration and performance. The transmission is a genuine Ford Racing part and is also equipped with a 26-spline shaft. This kit is the perfect replacement for your Mustangs old MT-82 or TR-3650 manual transmission.
Superior Design and Quality. The Ford Performance TREMEX Magnum XL T56 Transmission is designed with an extended length tail section and a solid mount direct shift design. This will eliminate the shifting issues associated with the OEM semi-remote shifter. You get a faster, smoother, and more direct shifting action so you can burn the tarmac without missing your shift points. The solid steel bell housing is SFI-approved and is engineered for racing or high-performance applications. The gear ratios of this transmission are as follows: 1st 2.97, 2nd 2.10, 3rd 1.46, 4th 1.00, 5th 0.80, 6th 0.63, and Reverse 2.90.
Professional Installation. Replacing the stock transmission assembly in your 2005 to 2014 Mustang GT will require a host of specialized equipment and hand tools. Professional installation is strictly recommended. This kit is ideal for the S197 Mustang GT equipped with the 4.6-liter SOHC V8 or 5.0-lter TiVCT V8 motor.

    In the 05 - 09 can this be installed without tilting the front of the motor way up because of the seperate bellhousing ?

    Would be fun to put one of these in a Mustang some day and do the rear differential gears and other stuff. Now to find the Mustang worthy of such a project.

    under 4grand doesn't sound too shabby to me,,plus what ever the install fees would be,,,not to mention the price of the clutch also and or rear gears,,,all 3 together installed I would assume around 10grand

    Ford should offer 05' and 14' Mustang owners the option of swapping their junk mt82 for the TREMEC Magnum XL T56, all costs covered by Ford. S550 owners should also be offered their Tremec swap option on Ford. I am a poor dude and do not have the money to purchase both a 20k dollar "newer" car and spend this kind of money on a tranny. Not a Chevy dude, but a 2010 - 2013 Camaro SS already has a Tremec, and goes for the same price as a Mustang GT, similar miles, condition, similarly equipped, of course.

    1-2 days install? At the factory it takes us 54 seconds to install the trans.

    So on the 3v you can put this transmission and pretty much convert it from 5speed to 6speed with still the stock 4.6?

    Why not just do a 1200.00 upgrade on a T-56 that can handle well over 1000 hp ? Then there's stage 4 and 5 for a bit more cash and you'll be able to throw 1500 + hp at it !

    No, it requires a custom made one piece DS. The OEM two piece won't fit for multiple reasons (length, different mounting ie: slip-yoke style vs flange-yoke, different balancing, etc...)

    Yup but I would look online to see what else is needed to get it working on the 18+. I want to get an S550 and do the same in the future

    Shifting issues are mostly clutch if its lockout. Replace the clutch asap regardless of miles on it. MGW shifter also for the win

    Yes. The XL variant is made to fit the s550 and s197, due to the extension of the shifter mount, basically allowing you to have a shifter directly mounted to the trans and replacing the remote-shift mounting system that is OEM On the s550.
