Not really. They’re complete dogs. Imagine the same awesome reliability as a 6.0, but with two cylinders chopped off, and a funky twin turbo system that still has tons of lag like the 6.0. And the trans is the same as a F350. Thing can barely get out of its own way.

Great informative video! I have a 2005 f350 6.0 & broke my engine top fuel filter cap. I wish I had that Matco socket! I broke 2 sides of the “nut” on the cap. Because I had tighten the cap a little more than the 14 nm! I ended up heating up a flat blade screwdriver & 5# sledgehammer to chiseled 2 out 3 sections off before I could use the screwdriver & hammer to turn the cap off. Then methodically cleaned the bowl out of all the little bits of plastic. I couldn’t get the banjo bolt off the fuel line. Lesson learned!

I prefer “placeholder plug”. “Dummy plug” gives the poor thing a complex and they give up and leak. I always huff gasoline on a rag when I start these after HPOP draining repairs. Not me, but the engine. It’ll halfway run on those vapors and shortens crank time and starter load. I did the same back in the IDI 6.9/7.3 days. That line bleeding crap on the mechanical injection engines is BS.

I have a 2008 LCF with about 115k. We seem to constantly "lose" coolant (with no apparent leaks) and get occasional plumes of white smoke after breifly idling at red lights. Wondered if you had any thoughts on that

😂 That's where I bought it from! Haha. It lives in Virginia now. Man the drive down from Michigan was a rough one. Michigan is nice and flat compared to The Appalachian Mountains where I live. My LCF barley gets to 30mph going up hill, and it has a Governor on it, so going downhill it wouldn't get over 65 due to that. If you wouldn't mind, could you give me a Ballpark for this work done at a shop? You made this look easy with the right tools of course, but I think I'd rather have a professional take care of this.

@@ridingwiththereids I think it was the 6.0 that was supposed to get used for European international trucks but was scrapped until emissions kicked in and Ford requested they needed a new diesel quick as the 7.3 wasn't approved and dug out the VT365 as it's actually known. Really all the nightmares can be traced all the way to International Navistar as the Maxxforce Series was also a garbage motor which basically destroyed their reputation. The 6.4 was a Maxxforce 7 engine. Though the 6.4 used a Sequential Turbo the Maxxforce 7 had a single VGT so I don't think it had the same turbo issues as the 6.4. Same with the 4.5 you see there it uses a Sequential twin Turbo like the 6.4 instead of a single one like the bigger 6.0

You're only doing half of the job. Did you know about the fuel tank delamination that causes that?. Did you replace the tank and flush everything? If not, you just threw a ton of money away and caused the customer a great disservice..... When it comes back and it will, clean or replace the fuel tank, filter and flush everything. Good luck!
