3x3 Dreidel Cube Tutorial part 1: How to design a commutator!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

By popular request, I'm pulling out the brilliantly designed dreidel cube to go over some basics. In this part, I introduce the puzzle and explain what a commutator is, what an algorithm is, and go over how to come up with these things. By the end of this, my hope is that you can design your own commutators on any puzzle!
If so desired, I can move on to future parts to actually demonstrate the solve itself.

Excellent EXCELLENT cubing theory 101!!... This is one of my fave cubes, although I like 2 call it the 'dreadful' cube... Please revisit this masterpiece.

This was really a fascinating video, man. It has helped me understand the process of actually developing commutators in a way I never really have before. Thanks!

Fantastic! I enjoyed this video a lot. From now on I will try harder to solve my new puzzles without looking for tutorials. At least I will try :)

What happens if you have a mean wife that scrambles your new puzzles before you get to come up with commutators???

SuperAntoniovivaldi the fourth emergency service!! In good news - I have just created my first commutator. A three cycle on a curvy copter. It's not much, but it's a start! Thanks. :)

Excellent video, as always your videos are not just how to do this or that but how to come up with solution to problems that can be used in other problems. Big big fan of your work and videos. Thank you. I am working on my 2x4x6 now but this puzzle in on my next buy list.

This is an awesome video for teaching. Still in the beginning but the only thing that sucks...is that I don't own a single physical puzzle... I play on my phone with an android app that has a TON of different sizes and shapes and then it has all the way from 2x to 3x to some of them having like 13x, 14x, 16x...etc etc ... some have massive numbers, like a 13x13x13 void cube lol...never seen a void cube bigger than 3x3x3 either... very interesting app to see all of these puzzles... Like all different Ghost Cube types, Dodecahedron from standard to 4 layers, Floppy(?) 1x2x3 all the way to 7x8x9, 2x2x3 to 8x8x9. Mirror(? is that there name, the app uses different names, Ghosts are called dragons for example) as standard version, Dodeca, floppy, flat, 2x2x3 type. Shapeshifting type(cuboid is what it calls them here) 2x2x4 to 11x11x13 lol... 1x3x3 to 10x12x12 and 1x3x5 to 10x12x14... There void cubes are called crystal cubes and there's the Pyramid type starting from the 2x2 all the way to 11x11x11, then the diamond(4 sided pyramid instead of 3 sided) once again starting from 2x2x2 to 11x11x11, void Dodecas from standard to a 6 layered one and standard rubik's void(sorry they're called crystals by category but they're labeled as "holey" in their names)...so the Holey Cube starts from 3x3x3 and goes to(counting in head, 5x5, 7x7, 9x9,11,13...)... 13x13x13... does all the odd numbers from 3 to 13(including). And then there are some other ones like putting your own pictures on the sides of cubes and other weird things like that.... um... I don't remember my point anymore besides saying about these crazy cubes... OOOOH RIGHT... because I sadly don't own a physical one so it makes it SOOOOOO much hard to try to think things through unless you're just following algorithms... it is so sad and annoying and sad(again...le-sigh)... You should send me even just a normal 3x3x3(would prefer a more complex one *1*

Hi, excellent video, I solve it like this, first the f2l of the 3x3 then the corners, after I solve the last level as a 3x3 finally solve to corners and using a commuter y set tree of the lithe pieces (X=DW' y CLU60 DW' CLU60' DW Y' Z= CLI120) C means corner and the other letters means the notation of witch corner also the number it's how it turns.
