u gotta merge the middle 2 dimensions into 1 dimension and look at it closely

The coolest moment for me was when I finally got it crossed right but it was still blurry since I was squinting, and then I realized I could just fully open my eyes without losing the effect

Thats absolutely insane, once you get it your eyes feel rested

Try Magic Eye puzzles. You do this and need to find an image. But usually you use the opposite of cross eyes for that, move the focal point back behind the image so instead of two eyes pointed where you are looking in the image they are more straight. It is the same feeling as when you stare into space and dont want to move your eyes and just sit there thinking.

*Tip for blurriness:* When using a hand held device like a phone or a tablet it helps to hold it in front of your face, arms straight and sitting up. Therefore it’s level with your eyes and you don’t need to squint so much if it’s slightly further away from your face. This is how I got that crystal clear 3d effect. Hope this helps someone.

I freaked out for a second. I was crossing my eyes and my vision was so blurry, and when i went back to normal vision it was still blurry. I had like 2 seconds of panic before I realized I was holding my glasses...

"Crossing" your eyes is actually incorrect. Like, plain out wrong. Try this: Look at the screen (about 30cm (sorry if you're american)) Look at the center, the line in between the two half screens Try to focus your eyes as if you were looking at something that was half the distance from your face. You can practice by putting a finger in front of your face and focusing on it, so you'll get familiar with the feeling (it's a bit uncomfortable). You can also try to focus on something that is very far away from you so you'll start to really feel the difference. Alternate between both. When you feel confident enough, try to think as if you were focusing on an imaginary finger right in front of you, but do it in front of the screen. At some point you'll see the two images starting to collide at the center, very blurry. HOLD ON that single blurry image. Your eyes will hurt and maybe tear up. Try to make it as stable as possible, your eyes will slowly adjust, and as they do it, they should hurt less. After a few seconds, the image should become more clear and you'll feel like you can actually focus on it as if your brain was perceiving it as an actual singular image, not two merged together. Once it's clear, avoid distractions and enjoy. (Don't hold it more that the 1:50 of the videos, I don't think it's good for the eyes. Anyway I doubt anyone could mantain it for more than2 minutes, it's very stressful for the eyes)

I'm glad I used to try to merge two objects like dots on paper etc since childhood and I got this 3D image in less than 5 seconds while others are saying its extremely difficult.. This 3D is amazing!!

I hope there was an fbi agent looking through my camera looking at me with a cross-eyed face going "wow, that's amazing".

just put the two circles together and ajusts everything until the middle image seems to be normal, there you don't have to keep your effort on crossing eyes as your subconscious keeps it.

I couldn’t do it for a while either. Just blur your vision, and try to get the two dots to touch each other until they look like one. Once you’ve done this, your eyes will sort of autofocus, and then you should be to see a third picture in the middle, that is 3D

I love how it just hits. It just instantly locks in.

Hmm. Then can you make the two black dots below to meet? Once it meets there is one single screen in the middle that is 3d. You might not see it at first but stay in that state for a bit and let your eye be tricked. Once it is tricked, the screen will sharpen and the middle image will become crystal clear

use the black dots as a guide, once they are very close you can move to the actual image and try to focus the image. the image is very clear once you got it.

Here is a tip for those who can't do it: Look at the tip of your nose for a while. Then look at the screen while still looking a bit at the tip of your nose. You'll eventually see the 3D animation

this is so cool. I cant get my eyes to focus all the way but when they get close I can see the 3d effect, this is awesomem!

Now to practice this for an hour a day until I can watch movies without needing glasses.

Never could get this to work, not as a kid and not now. The nice music is the only reason it lingered in my mind, but when the advancement of VR came to its peak in late 2013 and lingered onwards to the 2014s it showed that viewing the image in double up to your eyes would help create a field of depth. Watching it on my iPhone makes me overwhelmed on the overall environment when through VR I learn to focus on the little things, and I noticed that for this to work it had to be smaller to me. So I’m giving my Quest 2 a go to see firsthand whether this video was truly ahead of its time from me watching it as a kid in the wild nets.

For everyone who can't do that: try to put your finger between your eyes and the screen, focus on it and regulate the position of the finger to put two dots together. Maybe turn screen a little bit left or right if the dots aren't on the same line (for mobile devices) or your head. Once the dot in the center is clear, your brain will do the rest.

focus ont he dots as he said . make the one , then with the same "eye settings" look a bit up to the spiral . it's blurrry at first and u cant see much, stick to it for some seconds and it will get more clear

Wow that worked surprisingly well

i have a solution for all of you who cant make it work. place a finger in between your monitor and your eyes and focus on the finger while still watching the monitor. thank me later

Daniel Katzman yes place the finger halfway between the monitor and your eyes and then focus on it in your peripheral vision then transition the focus to the monitor

This has been a talent of mine since I was a kid. Being able to split your eyes to make the line in the middle split into two. Idk how to explain it but that’s the best I got. It worked for me wit no problem.

This was one of the first videos I watched as a child, wonder why it was recommended to me today:D

This is extremely difficult

I did it but it creates two separate images on the right and left, so I can see 3 screen at once. The middle one for me is the 3D one

just focus on the middle one.. it's the same principle as google cardboard, except they block the left image for the right eye, and vice versa. in the 1800's they had a very similar thing, a stereoscope. it's the middle one that is the combination of left and right perspective giving you the illusion of 3D

Yo holy crap, I actually wasn't expecting that to work! That is so sick once your eyes focus on it! This tactic works for practically any other 2 display VR videos with enough practice.
